Keyboard Warriors: No Suit For Tito

Happy Monday, Nation. We hope you had a good weekend. No, really, we hope you’re in a good mood, since we’re presenting the second installment of Keyboard Warrior. Hopefully everyone had naked funtime last night, slept like a baby, and had a great breakfast this morning. Otherwise, we imagine there will be lots of very not-nice things in the comments.

We’ve changed up the appearance of KBW, making it look more like a typical MMA forum, complete with the kind of critical information any Keyboard Warrior should have for important discussion, like join date and number of posts. Maybe now it won’t seem like we’re blatantly ripping off other peoples’ ideas.

You can read the first episode here (all two pages of it), check out number two, and then you’re welcome to leave suggestions, ideas, and odes to our greatness below.

Thanks again to WithLeather and @MrBrandonStroud for letting us blatantly rip off their ideas.

Mixed martial artist Dan Lauzon suffered a non-life threatening stab wound during a late night fight in a Bridgewater, Mass. pub parking lot, according to a published report from local paper The Enterprise.

The newspaper’s website originally named the 22-year-old in its report before removing his name. A source close to Lauzon confirmed to MMA Fighting that the original report was accurate and that Lauzon needed stitches to close a cut.

His brother, UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon, wrote a blog post that indirectly addressed the situation, writing, “Luckily everything was okay and it wasn’t a big deal as was originally thought.”

Here’s what we know: BJ Penn and George Sotiropoulos already have dates at UFC 127 in Australia. Karo Parisyan has been fired (again), and Matt Brown will surely be let go as well after suffering his third-consecutive submission loss. (Tyson Griffin also lost his third-straight on Saturday, but will remain in the promotion, as the judges’ decision in his fight against Nik Lentz was utter horseshit.) So where do UFC 123‘s other winners and losers go from here? As usual, we have a few suggestions…

Quinton Jackson: This one’s fairly obvious, assuming that nobody really wants to see an immediate rematch between Jackson and Machida. Rampage should get the winner of Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader at UFC 126. The winner of that fight gets a title shot. Bada-bing, bada-boom.

Lyoto Machida: Once an unstoppable force in the light-heavyweight division, it’s now been a year and a half since the Dragon has put on a dominant performance against anybody. At this point, the UFC needs to re-build Machida against a mid-level contender. Give him Matt Hamill, who deserves a step up after handling Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz. Alternately, you could throw Machida in against Randy Couture, and see if the Natural’s gift for game-planning can carry him through against the Dragon. Of course, that matchup might not be pointless enough for Randy, so don’t get your hopes up.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – UFC president Dana White believes that BJ Penn is such a proud man that if he had lost at UFC 123, a defeat that would have marked three straight losses, he would have retired.

It’s safe to say Penn isn’t calling it quits anytime soon.

Instead, the Hawaiian mixed martial arts legend provided a rejuvenating jolt to his already-storied career, knocking out former two-time welterweight champion Matt Hughes in just 21 seconds before 16,404 fans at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

“I honestly don’t want to sit here and beat my chest over beating Matt,” Penn told MMA Fighting after capturing the rubber match of the trilogy. “He’s just another guy like me who’s been around the sport a long time. I’m very fortunate things went the way they did tonight. Besides that, I don’t want to harp on anything else.”

George Sotiropoulos showed once again on Saturday night that he’s one of the best ground fighters in the lightweight division in mixed martial arts, submitting Joe Lauzon with a second-round kimura at UFC 123.

“I want to face the best, I want to earn what I get, I want to make a case for the belt,” Sotiropoulos said after the win, which improved his record to 14-2. “I’m going to keep making that case.”

Sotiropoulos is making the case that he deserves a lightweight title shot, and he’ll get that shot in 2011 if he keeps winning.
