UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville provided quite a bit of action and quite a few interesting results.

Artem Lobov proved many doubters wrong by hanging with one of the featherweight elite for 25 minutes. It was a losing effort, but Lobov’s stock undoubtedly rose after the performance.

What’s next for Conor McGregor’s training partner? What about Cub Swanson, who failed to put away an unranked fighter in a main event spot?

Al Iaquinta knocked Diego Sanchez out in the first round of their co-main event contest. Iaquinta’s return from a two-year absence thrust him right back into the hunt at 155 pounds. Sanchez now has to come to grips with his inability to compete with the top lightweights in the world.

Twenty-six fighters in total hit the cage Saturday, but what’s next?

Here’s your look at the matches the UFC should book for the winners and losers after UFC Fight Night 108.

Next up on tonight’s (April 22, 2017) UFC card from Nashville is a lightweight clash between UFC veteran Joe Lauzon and Stevie Ray.

Round One:

Ray immediately took Octagon control but had a front kick caught by Lauzon, who landed a knee to Ray’s face. The two clinched up against the cage and exchanged controlling position, before Lauzon again got the takedown. Lauzon took Ray’s back immediately but was unable to get his second leg hooked.

Lauzon went for the rear-naked choke but then transitioned to top mount. Lauzon let a few elbows reign down and Ray was able to get back into half guard. Again Lauzon got top control and continued his onslaught of elbows.

Ray was finally able to close his guard, but that lasted only momentarily as Lauzon was able to again advance to half guard and continue landing elbows to end the round.

Round Two:

Lauzon took Octagon control this time and avoided Ray’s stand-up attack. Ray continued to throw offense Lauzon’s way, but it was mostly blocked as Lauzon continued to walk him down and search for his opening for the takedown.

A caught kick almost landed Lauzon the takedown but Ray was able to scramble out after clinching up against the cage. Ray begun to pack a lot more behind his strikes and Lauzon looked spent before bursting out with a huge takedown. An elbow landed for Lauzon, who was able to advance to half guard.

After a scramble Ray attempted another ankle lock on Lauzon to close out the round.

Round Three:

Ray opened the third round with some elbow strikes of his own. He then threw a high-kick that didn’t land before continuing to throw elbows in the pocket. Lauzon shot in on Ray’s leg but the attempt was unsuccessful. Lauzon landed a nice straight left, followed by a right hook, then Lauzon got in on a takedown.

Ray responded by throwing a plethora of elbows to Lauzon’s head, but Lauzon was finally able to get Ray down. Ray landed a nice series of elbows to Lauzon’s head from bottom, and Lauzon was slow to respond with only a few strikes from top. Ray scrambled to his feet and pressured Lauzon against the cage as they locked up.

After establishing the thai clinch Ray landed some nice knees and then a body kick. Ray then uncorked some nasty offense that had Lauzon rocked badly on the feet. Ray ended the round unloading on Lauzon, who was very visibly shaken.

Official Result: Stevie Ray def. Joe Lauzon via Majority Decision (28-27, 29-27, 28-28)

The UFC heads to Nashville, Tennessee, with a decent Fight Night offering on Fox Sports 1 this Saturday, April 22. In the main event, longtime featherweight contender Cub Swanson draws Conor McGregor’s friend and training partner Artem Lobov in a bizarre but potentially entertaining main event.

That main event sums up a card mostly devoid of relevance to larger storylines or even to the title picture in any division, but it’s full of fun matchups.

The co-main event features a lightweight scrap between Al Iaquinta and the legendary Diego Sanchez, a fight that promises fireworks. Action fighter Joe Lauzon draws Scotland’s Stevie Ray in a fun bout, while Jake Ellenberger and Mike Perry will likely fight until one man is unconscious in the main-card opener.

The best fight on the card is a bantamweight matchup between John Dodson and Eddie Wineland, a fantastic meeting of two grizzled and talented veterans.

The prelims aren’t must-watch, but keep an eye on the flyweight bout between Brandon Moreno and Dustin Ortiz.

Let’s take a look at each matchup.

A proven ability to finish fights is undoubtedly one of the most desirable attributes any fighter could ever wish to possess to become a success in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Whether it’s by knockout or submission, fans want to see fights being finished, and so fighters who repeatedly demonstrate that killer instinct in the cage can quickly become valuable assets to a major organization like the UFC, and are more likely to become stars than their counterparts who leave their fate in the hands of the judges.

In this article we’ll seek to establish who the best of all-time are at finishing fights in the UFC, but before we begin, let’s quickly explain the methodology behind our rankings. First up, to provide somewhat of an even playing field we’re only taking into consideration fights that took place in the UFC, since some fighters records are padded out with finishes against low-level competition on the regional circuit.

The most important criteria is simply the number of finishes the fighter has aquired in the Octagon, but if there’s a tie, then we’ll separate them by comparing the number of finishes they have to their overall winning record in the UFC. If there’s still a deadlock, then we’ll move on to establishing who finishes their fights the quickest.

With that in mind, honorable mentions go out to four fan favorites: Randy Couture, Andrei Arlovski, Nate Diaz and Matt Brown, who all have 11 finishes on their records and only narrowly missed out on a spot in the Top 10 based on our criteria.
