UFC commentator Joe Rogan reacts to the brawl that broke out following the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and john Gotti III fight.

This past weekend, the eight round boxing exhibition between Mayweather and Gotti turned bad when referee Kenny Bayless called an end to the contest, chaos erupted. Citing abusive language, Bayless waved it off in front of Gotti, instead of returning to his corner or going to embrace his opponent, the grandson of famed New York City crime boss, John Gotti, charged at Mayweather – swinging wildly.

Mayweather would rock Gotti as the exchanged past the bell, then members of both teams jumped into the ring and a melee began. The violent nature of the evening spilled out into the stands, audience members brawled backstage with clips going viral.

“It became a melee,” Rogan began. “So then there’s fights in the ring and there’s fights outside the ring and there’s all this cell phone footage of people brawling and sucker punching each other – crazy. I don’t know why he [John Gotti III] didn’t listen, I don’t know if they were just talking shit to each other, but Kenny said that’s it, that’s a wrap and then everybody went crazy.”

“What’s interesting is Floyd is making more money than anybody and he’s boxing people who have no chance of beating him and he’s doing it as an exhibition. It doesn’t even hurt his record.”

Joe Rogan set to miss UFC 289 commentary gig as details revealed

Veteran color-commentator, Joe Rogan is slated to miss out on a return to the commentary-booth this weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada this weekend for UFC 289 – with the long-time staple replaced in the booth by former lightweight contender, Paul Felder.

Rogan, who has taken an exclusive schedule on pay-per-view events in the United States in recent years, will continue that trend this weekend – with the New Jersey native missing out on the promotion’s return to Canada.

Most recently featuring alongside the duo of play-by-play lead, Jon Anik and former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier at UFC 288 last month, Joe Rogan called bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling’s return to the Octagon against former two-weight champion and Olympic gold medalist, Herny Cejudo.

However, ahead of UFC 289 this weekend, MMA Junkie confirmed how Anik and Cormier will be joined in a three-man commentary booth by the aforenoted, Felder.

Taking main event honors in the promotion’s flagship return to ‘The Great White North’, two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes looks to defend her bantamweight crown as she tackles short-notice opponent, Mexican challenger, Irene Aldana.

In the night’s co-main event, former undisputed lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira features for the first time since October of last year, taking on the surging, Beneil Dariush in an expected lightweight title-eliminator.

Megan Olivi will also return to action as a roving reporter at UFC 289, conducting both post-fight and pre-fight interviews with fighters and athletes, as well as providing real-time updates throughout the pay-per-view event. Veteran Octagon announcer, Bruce Buffer also features at UFC 289 this weekend.

While yet to be confirmed by the organization, with UFC 290 slated to take place next month in Las Vegas, Nevada during International Fight Week – one can expect Joe Rogan to return to commentary duty.

That event will feature a featherweight championship unification clash between champions, Alexander Volkanovski, and Yair Rodríguez.

Joe Rogan is a big fan of Conor McGregor’s expert-level sh*t talking toward future opponent Michael Chandler on The Ultimate Fighter.

The 31st edition of the UFC’s long-running reality series debuted on Tuesday night much to the delight of Conor McGregor fans around the world. With the camera once again focused on him, and occasionally on Michael Chandler, the Irishman was in full ‘Notorious’ mode as he delivered what Joe Rogan dubbed ‘perfect sh*t-talking’.

“They also cast that show as a reality show, it’s a very cleverly done show,” Rogan said during a recent episode of his popular podcast. “It’s smart the way they do it, they, like, even what they’re doing now with Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, it’s great but perfect, perfect sh*t-talking when Conor tells him ‘You’ll do as you’re told’.

It’s amazing, okay, I hope that fight takes place, but it’s such a show, right, so it’s not just an athletic competition, it’s also- they want to make sure the people are fun” (h/t MMA News).

Conor McGregor’s Team is 0-1 Thus Far on The Ultimate Fighter

While Conor McGregor is expected to take center stage throughout the season, and understandably so, Team McGregor took a hit in the first episode with Team Chandler’s Roosevelt Roberts handing Team McGregor’s Nate Jennerman a knockout loss just eight seconds into the contest.

No matter how things turn out in this season of The Ultimate Fighter, it’s certain to add to the anticipation of McGregor’s inevitable return to the Octagon for a high-stakes clash with his opposing coach, Michael Chandler. The pair are expected to scrap toward the end of the year with December looking like the likeliest scenario given McGregor’s recent re-entry into the USADA testing pool. McGregor, Chandler, and UFC President Dana White have all insisted that the bout will indeed go down before the clock runs out on 2023, though some fans and fighters remain skeptical given the Irishman’s latest antics at the Monaco Grand Prix where he was seen dancing, eating, and drinking.

Pretty much everything aside from training for a fight.

Yair Rodríguez heralded wildest motherf*cker of all time Joe Rogan ahead of UFC 290

Ahead of his incoming featherweight title unification clash with fellow gold holder, Alexander Volkanovski, interim division gold holder, Yair Rodríguez has been heralded as one of the “wildest” fighters and most dynamic strikers in the Octagon has ever hosted, by long-time color-commentating staple, Joe Rogan.

Rodríguez, the current interim featherweight champion, is slated to take main event honors at UFC 290 next month during International Fight Week, taking on fellow division champion, Volkanovski in a main event title unifcation clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Securing interim divisional gold at UFC 284 back in February, featherweight staple, Rodríguez turned in a dominant win over incoming UFC Fight Night Jacksonville headliner, Josh Emmett, submitting the veteran knockout artist with a second round triangle choke – displaying his often overlooked grappling ability.

The victory came as Rodriguez’s second on the bounce in the last year, following a TKO win over former title challenger, Brian Ortega in the main event of UFC Fight Night Long Island – forcing a stoppage in the opening round after the common-foe suffered a dislocated shoulder as Rodriguez attempted a submission from his back.

Joe Rogan heaps praise on interim featherweight champion, Yair Rodríguez

And ahead of his title unification clash with New South Wales technician, Volkanovski, Rodríguez has been showered with praise by the aforenoted, Rogan – who is slated to return to the commentary booth to call the night’s action at UFC 290.

“Have you seen Yair Rodríguez fight?” Joe Rogan asked his guest during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. “Yair Rodríguez is one of the wildest motherf*ckers that’s ever fougt in MMA. Yair has some of the craziest kciks. He’s got his taekwondo background but he does all this wild sh*t. He hit B.J. Penn with a 360 roundhouse kick. He f*cked B.J. Penn up.”

“Look at this motherf*cker,” Rogan continued. “He kicked him with the righht, and then in the air hits him with the left. He’s a beast. He’s so dynamic, his striking and on the ground. He finished Josh Emmett with a triangle in his last fight. On the ground he’s nasty. He’s f*cking wicked. He’s wicked, and he’s really hard to figure out because everything he does is different – f*cking genius.”

Joe Rogan described as our generation's Larry King by Bill Maher UFC

Longtime comedian and political commentator Bill Maher suggested that Joe Rogan is a modern-day version of legendary TV show and radio host Larry King.

King, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 87, conducted over 50,000 interviews over the span of his 50+ year career and never shied away from controversial guests or awkward conversations. During his iconic run, he spoke with some of the biggest names in entertainment and political history, including Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, The Beatles, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Putin. Maher, an icon of American comedy in his own right, was a regular guest on Larry King Live and recently suggested that Joe Rogan was the best example of a modern-day Larry King in a world that is becoming more “woke” by the minute.

“I would argue that Joe Rogan is not like Larry King, but every generation has its own iteration of that,” Maher said on the Club Random podcast. “And certainly there are differences, but huge audience. Bigger than Larry King ever was. He’s not looking for a fight and he’s willing to open the mic to people, even ones that the establishment of some kind or another says, ‘How dare you let that person speak!’ I would say he’s our generation’s Larry King, in the same way there was Carson and then Letterman, Leno, then it moved to Fallon.”

Bill Maher Commends Joe Rogan for Lending His Mic to Those with Differing Views

Bill Maher continued to commend Joe Rogan for opening his studio up to practically anyone, no matter their beliefs whether they be political, religious, or otherwise.

“For what Joe does, he kind of opens that mic like Larry did,” Maher continued. “Elon Musk will do that show, and like, the biggest people in the world because they know of the reach. I just think also Joe earned that. This is just a regular guy smarter than the average bear, but is not gonna be intimidated first of all, by you saying, ‘don’t platform this guy or don’t listen to this.’ And will let anybody speak and usually has a common sense view of it, of his own. You know, he’s a little to the right of where I am on things.”

With radio slowly becoming a thing of the past, on-demand entertainment like podcasts are seeing a continued increase in popularity and nobody does it better than Joe Rogan based on the numbers. The long-time UFC commentator averages a stunning 11 million listeners per episode, more than any other podcast in the world. In 13 years, The Joe Rogan Experience has delivered more than 2,000 podcasts with nearly 6,000 hours of content, and more than 1,000 guests.

Elon Musk’s appearance on the show in 2018 is, to this day, the most-watched episode, generating 67 million viewers according to JRELibrary.com.

Joe Rogan has seemingly kicked off an unexpected rivalry between heavyweight combat sports icons Jon Jones and Tyson Fury.

It all started during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience when the popular podcaster suggested that if the two men were locked in a room, Jon Jones would make quick work of the WBC heavyweight champion. “You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet?” Rogan asked. “If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.”

It didn’t take long for Tyson Fury to snap back at Rogan in a profanity-laced rant where he called the longtime UFC commentator a “little f*cking bald-headed midget.” That then prompted Jon Jones to enter the chat, suggesting that if ‘The Gypsy King’ ever wants to test his skills inside the Octagon, just give Uncle Dana a call.

If you ever want to put some of those questions you got going on to rest, give Dana a call. I’ll help you out,” Jones tweeted.

Tyson Fury Invited Jon Jones into the Squared Circle Where He Runs the Show

Unsurprisingly, Tyson Fury chimed in once again, responding to Jon Jones’ response. Fury, like Jones, showed respect for the skills of his target and admitted that he is not a cage fighter, squashing any misguided hopes of seeing the two scrap inside the Octagon. However, if Jon Jones is ever looking to test his skill set in the sweet science, there’s only one man ‘Bones’ needs to call.

“I see Jon Jones has piped up,” Fury said. “Jon, you talk about being in a cage, I’m not a cage fighter, mate. I’m a boxer — the best boxer, actually. So if you want to come into a boxing ring and fight me, be my guest. Let me know. You don’t have to call anybody else, you call me because it’s a boxing fight and I’m the boss in this game.

“You’re a great fighter, Jon, but you’re no boxer, that’s for sure. All the best, good luck.”

Jon Jones found Fury’s response nothing short of humorous after his “no man born from a mother” comment seemingly went out the window upon the suggestion of their meeting inside the Octagon.

“Yesterday, Tyson says, “no man born from a mother can beat me”, today he says “Jon can never beat me in a boxing ring”. Yeah I’m glad we got that clarified. You just switched your beat up faster than Travis Barker, impressive.”
