Joe Rogan Describes Why Weight Cutting Is Worse Cheating Than Steroids

Joe Rogan thinks that extreme weight cutting is worse than using ********.

The topic of extreme weight cutting continues to place a black eye on the sport of MMA. With high-profile fights affected by extreme cuts on a seemingly weekly basis, octagon commentator Joe Rogan has become one of the most prominent critics of the practice.

Rogan recently sounded off on weight cutting during his Joe Rogan Experience Podcast (via MMA Fighting), claiming that the draining cuts fighters are putting themselves through is cheating on a level above even that of ********:

“It is stupid,” Rogan said. “What it is is sanctioned cheating. It’s sanctioned cheating and it’s cheating at a much higher scale even than PEDs.

“If you get two people and they both weigh 135 [pounds] but they’re both totally hydrated and one of them has been doing ******** and one of them hasn’t been doing ********, the difference will be far less than if one person weighs in at 135 [pounds] but then balloons up to 160 [pounds] and then gets into that octagon at 160 [pounds] but there’s no PEDs involved. That’s a much greater advantage than someone whose doing some sort of testosterone thing or something. They’re compromised but the benefit of being so much larger might outweigh being compromised.

“Dude, if I was running s**t, I’d fix that first. That would be the first thing I would fix.”

The solution to such a sport-wide problem isn’t easy, but Rogan pointed to Asia’s ONE Championship, who experienced the death of flyweight Yang Jian Bing due to an extreme cut. Afterward, they implemented a system where fighters are weighed and tested for hydration levels every day leading up to a fight. It may be a stringent program, but fighters lives are on the line so Rogan believes every promotion should follow the path:

“People push it, they do push it,” Rogan said. “If you give them more time, they are gonna push it. If they know that they can rehydrate longer – which is the idea, that it’s safer because you can rehydrate from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. instead of from 4 p.m. on. I just think give them all the time they need. ONE FC has laid out the ground work. Look at what they did with their hydration tests and implement that.”

The problem of extreme weight cuts has been instilling itself in the UFC at a level more than ever right now, and a solution does not appear imminent. Perhaps attempting a system similar to that of ONE would go far in terms of solving the dangerous health threat it provides to fighters, who seem to always be willing to put their short and long-term health on the line for any advantage in a fight.

That lead to the death of a fighter in ONE, who changed their weigh-in practices in a huge way as a result.

But the UFC has not. Will it take the death of one of their fighters for them to finally fix the biggest threat to their athletes’ health?

Joe Rogan Believes Stipe Miocic Should Get Daniel Cormier Rematch

Joe Rogan has pitched his case.

The post Joe Rogan Believes Stipe Miocic Should Get Daniel Cormier Rematch appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Despite how the first fight ended, there are some fight fans that believe that Stipe Miocic should get his rematch against Daniel Cormier and now we can add the name of longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan into that party.

As seen in the main event of the UFC 226 pay-per-view event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cormier scored a KO win over Miocic to win the UFC heavyweight title, which marks history as Cormier is now a two-division champion.

Cormier is expected to wait until January to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar with the UFC heavyweight title being on the line which would set up for an interesting few months for Miocic if he doesn’t accept any other fight offered to him by the promotion as he has gone on record by stating that he’s not interested in any other fights at this time. Rogan agrees that Miocic has accomplished so much in the division and thus he deserves a rematch with Cormier.

“He should [get a rematch],” Rogan said to Bryan Callen and Brendan Schaub on MMA Show podcast (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). “People are thinking, the guy wins more UFC title defenses than anybody on the history of the sport and becomes the most accomplished heavyweight of all time. Think about what he’s done.

Think about the fact that he knocks out Fabricio Werdum to win the title, he knocks out Alistair Overeem to defend the title, he knocks out Junior dos Santos, beats Francis when everybody is terrified of Francis.

He became the most accomplished heavyweight of all time. Then he gets knocked out by a crazy, perfect punch by Daniel Cormier in a perfect strategy. The fight is Brock but the question is, can Brock pass tests?”

Most fight fans would think that due to how the first fight went down and the way that DC finished Miocic, the promotion will not book a rematch right away but rather historically, would wait for the fighter who got KO’d to pick up a few wins before making the fight happen again and this will likely happen in this situation.

The conclusion to the UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) this past weekend (Sat., July 7, 2018) left a lot of fight fans with their jaws on the floor.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic in the first round to capture the heavyweight title. He’s now the second man in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously for the promotion.

As always, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan was cageside to call the action – and his reaction to the Cormier victory was absolutely priceless. Rogan’s eyes grow wide while he puts both hands on his head, unable to speak another word for several seconds after seeing Miocic get knocked out.

You can see Rogan’s reaction in the opening seconds of the UFC’s “UFC 226: The Thrill and the Agony – Sneak Peak” YouTube video right here:

Rogan later met up with Cormier backstage after the event to congratulate him. The footage also features some comments from “DC’s” next expected heavyweight opponent, Brock Lesnar.

Shortly after Cormier’s victory, Lesnar came inside the Octagon and engaged in a shoving match with the new “Champ Champ.” They exchanged words before UFC President Dana White announced later that night that Cormier vs. Lesnar will be the next UFC heavyweight title fight.

Seven Potential Replacements For Dana White

Check out seven possible replacements the UFC could hire for Dana White:

The post Seven Potential Replacements For Dana White appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Nothing lasts forever, and even the mighty Dana White will one day step down as the president and face of the UFC.

Love him or hate him, White has been at the helm of the combat sports giant since Zuffa purchased it back in January of 2001. Under White’s leadership, the UFC has grown into a multi-billion dollar, global phenomenon, and the unquestioned leader of mixed martial arts (MMA).

That’s not to say White hasn’t ruffled a few feathers along the way, a career that spans more than 15 years is bound to challenge the status quo. Brash and unapologetic at times, and at other times brutally honest, inconsistency has been the only constant in White’s run as UFC president.

When Zuffa sold the Ultimate Fighting Championship to the William Morris Endeavor in 2016 for $4.2 billion, many people questioned whether White would also part ways with the company he helped build. He obviously has not; however, as of late people have started to notice that White seems increasingly disinterested and at times flippant.

With that in mind, we explored the MMA universe to bring you seven possible replacements for White. Enjoy.

CombatPress

Chael Sonnen

If you saw this one coming, give yourself a pat on the back because you, my friend, have a keen MMA eye. Sonnen is perhaps the most obvious choice to fill White’s shoes, and maybe best suited to follow such an act.

If “The American Gangster” did have ambitions of reigning over the UFC, he would first need to be released from his existing Bellator contract, which most likely would not be an issue considering the kinship between himself and Scott Coker.

The more practical sticking point may be the incredible freedom the Viacom owned promotion bestows on Chael. Would he really want to trade his relatively light workload with big bucks, for a back-breaking work schedule with comparable pay?
