Donald Trump bails on Colby Covington

Colby Covington dedicated most of his post-fight speech to his beloved former U.S. President, Donald Trump. Unfortunately, ol’ 45 didn’t stick around to hear it.

With his hero sitting cageside, Covington stepped into the Octagon at UFC 296 determined to finally break through and claim his first world championship. Instead, ‘Chaos’ was once again put in his place courtesy of reigning and defending welterweight titleholder Leon Edwards. ‘Rocky’ delivered a dominant performance, walking away with a 49-46 score on all three judge’s cards.

Taking a page out of Trump’s book of excuses, Covington claimed that bias had stolen the win from him in Sin City. He then proceeded to praise the Mastermind of MAGA for the next couple of minutes… Just as Trump was leaving the building.

It was a burn so severe that Covington’s most heated rival, Jorge Masvidal, had to share it on social media.

‘Gamebred’ Predicted that Covington would ‘Fumble the Bag’ in front of Trump

The rivalry between Covington and Masvidal is the stuff of MMA legend. The two welterweight stars stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 272 for a grudge match that ultimately saw ‘Chaos’ emerge as the winner via a grinding five-round decision. However, the fight was far from done for Masvidal.

Weeks later, ‘Gamebred’ sneak-attacked Covington outside of a Miami steakhouse, fracturing his tooth in the process. Masvidal has since pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge and was sentenced to time served.

Weeks before Covington vs. Edwards went down at UFC 296, ‘Gamebred’ predicted that ‘Chaos’ would “fumble the bag” in front of Trump and the free world. Masvidal also made it clear that his business with Covington is still far from over.

“I’m going to beat his ass again somewhere at some point, somewhere…at some point yeah, I’m going to train my — and beat the living brakes out of that little b*tch,” he said (h/t Brobible).

BKFC Brawler Mike Perry Calls for a bare-Knuckle Clash with Jorge Masvidal: ‘It would be an honor’

BKFC star ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has his sights set on a scrap with a man who knows something about bare-knuckle brawling; Jorge Masvidal.

The newly crowned ‘King of Violence’ is riding high following his fourth-straight win inside the squared circle at BKFC 56. Once again stepping under the main event spotlight, Perry scored a second-round TKO over former Bellator and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. After two high-octane rounds of action, ‘The Underground King’ could not continue after his eye had swelled shut.

Following the contest, ‘Platinum’ called for clashes with both Irish megastar Conor McGregor and another former lightweight titleholder, Anthony Pettis. However, on social media, Perry had another big name he’d love to toe the line with.

“A definite tough fight, the toughest out there, would be the original bare knuckle boxer, I watched him on kimbofights on YouTube in high school, I know calling him out could open a whole new world between us but man to man for the prize of a lifetime it would be an honor to bare knuckle fight @GamebredFighter,” Perry wrote on X.

Could We See ‘Gamebred’ make his BKFC debut?

Jorge Masvidal famously competed in backyard bare-knuckle fights alongside YouTube legend Kimbo Slice before working his way to the UFC where he competed for the welterweight world title on two separate occasions. Gamebred’ also holds the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history, dispatching Ben Askren with a flying knee just four seconds into the bout.

Earlier this year, Masvidal retired from MMA following his fourth-straight loss inside the Octagon. ‘Gamebred’ hasn’t ruled out a potential return, but for now, he is focused on building his Gamebred Boxing and Gamebred Bare Knuckle MMA promotions.

With Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship coming off one of the most successful nights in company history, BKFC founder David Feldman may look to flex his cash flow a bit and make an enticing offer to Masvidal for a one-off with Mike Perry.

Who knew that a rivalry between Chael Sonnen and Jorge Masvidal could be so entertaining?

On Monday, Masvidal, appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani a few hours removed from pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from his March 2022 altercation with Colby Covington in Miami. During his conversation with Helwani, ‘Gamebred’ couldn’t help, but bring up the host’s heated back-and-forth with former three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen and Helwani got into a spirited debate over Francis Ngannou’s fight with Tyson Fury that ultimately resulted in ‘The American Gangster’ abruptly ending the segment.

Sharing his take on the situation, Masvidal called Sonnen a “b*tch” among other things while siding with Helwani.

Reacting to Masvidal’s comments, Chael Sonnen went on an absolute tear, shredding the two-time title challenger in a series of scathing responses on social media.

Jorge if you wanna scrap You hafta beat one of my students first Colby Cov… ” Chael Sonnen wrote, in a series of posts on X aimed at Masvidal. “Ummmm Scratch that Let’s stick to things that are possible…. -Are you allowed to kick with the leg that’s wearing the house-arrest ankle monitor?…

MASVIDAL- I do “want some” just trying to be clear on a few regulatory matters… Is your corner going to give you a prison juice-box instead of water?… -No “Man-Bun”… George- Can you travel out of state without Air Marshals shackling you to a hand-dolly like Hannibal Lecter ?”

Sonnen continued, “Am I the last person you turned on, or just the latest?… How many of your texts to me asking for help because you’re dull and unfunny should I release?.. Is a dozen enough?… Did you go to a Miami Car Shop to have them pull the dent Kamaru Usman put in your face out… On a related note-shouldn’t they just have replaced your entire face?…

Lastly, A word of advice Don’t be two-faced, It means the next time you fight, you’re gonna have FOUR black eyes instead of the usual TWO.”

Masvidal Responds and Continues to Get Torched by Chael Sonnen

It didn’t take long for ‘Gamebred’ to react to the online onslaught, questioning whether or not Chael Sonnen would have the stones to say any of the above to his face.“You juice head, I bet you won’t say this stuff in person,” Masvidal responded. “@ChaelSonnen just keep the same energy when you see me.”

Of course, Sonnen was far from done. “Since I don’t spend much time in county jails, homeless shelters, methadone centers, or dodgy, unlicensed, outdoor barber-shops, it’s unlikely we’ll see each other in person anytime soon,” Sonnen quipped.

…But if we DO meet in person some advice -DON’T pretend to fight w/your benefactors (“ME”) to try to get heat for yout failing fight promotion. It’s doomed, the $ is gone, wasted. NO “Man-Bun” Seriously Bruh. Go get a haircut where you’re not sitting on a folding beach-chair & the floor is dirt.

Sonnen added, “DO -Go see a Therapist. Point to the spot(s) where Colby hurt you. Have a good cry, punch the pillow, repeat every 2 weeks.”

Jorge Masvidal issues stark warning to colby covington: ‘I’m gonna knock the rest of his teeth out’

Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal doesn’t know where or when, but he believes he and Colby Covington will cross paths once again.

On Monday, Masvidal pled guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge as part of a plea deal stemming from an altercation with Covington outside of a Miami steakhouse in March 2022. ‘Gamebred’ was sentenced to time served and he’ll be responsible for paying court fees attached to the case. He will not serve any time behind bars.

The ruling brings an end to the drama that began at UFC 272 well over a year ago when Covington earned a unanimous decision victory over Masvidal in their main event grudge match. Weeks removed from the bout, Masvidal reportedly sneak-attacked Covington outside of a Miami restaurant, fracturing his tooth in the process.

Finally able to talk about the alleged incident, Jorge Masvidal shared his take on the situation during an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour mere hours removed from his court appearance.

“This little b*tch Colby was trying to hit me for three felonies and a misdemeanor after he had declared numerous times that if he had seen me in the street, he was literally gonna kill me,” Masvidal said. “He said the weirdest f*cking sh*t. I couldn’t talk about this before, but now I can. He also said that I had attacked him with four or five other individuals. Where the f*ck were all these co-defendants? They would have been on trial as well. You can’t just attack people with a mob of people. That would have been a hate crime on his flakey a**.

“So where the f*ck are the rest of the people? Again, he’s a f*cking liar. It was just me and him. I f*cking confronted him after he had just dropped that sh*t and what did he do? He hid and called the f*cking cops. Calling 911, ‘I’m in fear for my life. This guy’s trying to kick my a**.’ You f*cking p*ssy a** b*tch. Eight months I’ve been dealing with this sh*t. All types of money spent. All types of bullish*t.”

As for how he expects things to go should the two welterweights ever come across one another in the future, ‘Gamebred’ said:

“I don’t know when, but me and Colby are gonna see each other at some point, whether it’s in a f*cking cage or I don’t know where the f*ck it’s gonna be, but we’re gonna see each other,” Masvidal continued. “For him lying on my name, for him pressing charges… For everything he’s f*cking done, we are going to see each other and it’s gonna be fun, man. It’s gonna be interesting.

“I’m gonna knock the rest of his f*cking teeth out.”

Jorge Masvidal

Retired UFC welterweight fan favorite Jorge Masvidal pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge following a March 2022 attack on Colby Covington outside of a Miami steakhouse. As part of the agreement, a pair of felony charges will be dropped, ensuring that ‘Gamebred’ doesn’t spend the foreseeable future behind bars.

Masvidal, 38, was sentenced to time already served plus court costs, according to a report from MMA Junkie.

I think the case probably should have been dismissed, it was a fight between two fighters,” said Masvidal’s attorney, Bradley Cohen. “I think it was resolved efficiently.”

Colby Covington Gears Up For Another Title Opportunity While Jorge Masvidal Settles into Retirement

Colby Covington is currently gearing up for his third welterweight title opportunity on December 16 when he once again steps into the main event spotlight for a showdown with reigning 170-pound champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296.

‘Chaos’ did not appear in court.

The ruling will (hopefully) bring an end to the pair’s longstanding rivalry that should have ended at UFC 272 when the two men stepped inside the Octagon to settle their differences inside the T-Mobile Arena. On that night, Covington left with a unanimous decision victory. Roughly two weeks later, Masvidal reportedly sneak-attacked Covington outside of a Miami restaurant. Covington suffered a fractured tooth and a wrist abrasion.

Following a four-fight losing streak that included his lopsided loss to Covington, ‘Gamebred’ walked away from the sport. He now focuses on promoting fights under his Gamebred MMA and Gamebred Boxing banners.
