Jorge Masvidal has, arguably, the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career coming up.

Masvidal will take on Nate Diaz in the main event of the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden on November 2. Diaz called Masvidal out after his UFC 241 win over Anthony “Showtime” Pettis in California. He also proclaimed himself the UFC’s “Baddest Mother F*cker Champion,” and said he’ll defend his title against Masvidal next.

UFC President Dana White said he’s actually going to get a BMF belt made for the matchup, and award it to the winner. However, it won’t be defended again, as the title will simply be a one-off. Masvidal is obviously extremely confident he’ll leave MSG as the BMF Champion. He also might have a fellow Miami native in the house cheering him on in The Rock.

The former WWE star and Hollywood megastar recently noted he might have to show up to watch Masvidal vs. Diaz in person. Responding to The Rock’s comments on Twitter, Masvidal said, if The Rock is in the building, and he emerges victorious, “Gamebred” wants The Rock to wrap the BMF belt around his waist.

What do you think about Masvidal wanting The Rock to put the BMF belt around his waist at UFC 244?

Dustin Poirier is not impressed whatsoever by Colby Covington’s recent antics.

On Saturday, Poirier lost in his attempt to become the undisputed lightweight champion when Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted him in the third round of their UFC 242 headliner in Abu Dhabi.

After the fight, Poirier was asked if he had any interest in fighting the winner of the recently announced Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal fight. However, Poirier didn’t seem too open to the idea as Masvidal is an American Top Team teammate. He did, however, mention Covington:

“Jorge is a buddy of mine,” Poirier said at the post-fight press conference. “I don’t sell out like f*cking Colby Covington and talk bad about people who I roll with.

Jorge is a buddy of mine, I won’t fight him. He’s a training partner, he’s a good guy. If anything, I’ll go out to Florida and help him for that fight [vs. Diaz].”

Poirier is referring to Covington’s recent barb at Masvidal on Twitter where he labeled his former roommate as a “journeyman” among other things. Leading up to UFC 242, Covington also took a shot at Poirier when announcing his betting pick of the week.

It was all the more surprising because Covington trains closely with Poirier, at least in recent times. However, Masvidal had a response for Poirier, calling him a “real one”:

What do you think of Covington’s remarks towards Poirier and Masvidal?

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was one of many to have been excited with the news that Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will be colliding.

It was announced earlier today that the pair would headline UFC 244 which takes place in New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 2. UFC president Dana White even claimed a one-off “BMF” belt would be made for the bout.

Rogan reacted to that as well as the fight announcement later on in a Fight Companion video for UFC 242:

“Nate says it’s the ‘baddest motherf*cker in the game belt,’” Rogan reacted laughing. “He can’t say that, are you going to say that on TV? ESPN, you can’t say that.

“…Dude, I got so hyped,” he continued. “When I saw it on my Instagram feed this morning, I threw my arms up like someone got knocked out.”

Rogan still wants to see Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington face each other for the welterweight title. However, he can’t complain about the UFC 244 headliner as he went on to compliment both fighters, with particular praise for “Gamebred”:

“He’s [Masvidal] so clever [referencing the ‘three piece and a soda’ line]. That’s one of the best things to say about Masvidal,” Rogan added. “The thing is people don’t necessarily associate him with knockout power for some reason. But the guy knocked out Yves Edwards with a head kick, Darren Till, Cowboy Cerrone, Ben Askren, put him in another dimension with a flying knee, world record fastest knockout.

I mean, it’s weird people don’t associate Masvidal as a knockout artist. He doesn’t necessarily have the most power but he’s so good.”

Nate Diaz was serious about keeping active now that he’s back inside the Octagon.

It was announced this morning that Diaz will headline UFC 244 on pay-per-view (PPV) against Jorge Masvidal from Madison Square Garden on November 2. Diaz called Masvidal out last month after his UFC 241 victory over Anthony “Showtime” Pettis in California. After the callout, the mixed martial arts (MMA) world went crazy for the matchup, thus forcing the UFC to put it together.

Now, the Las Vegas-based promotion has released a promo for the November showdown. Check it out here:

Both Diaz and Masvidal have been in peak form as of late. Diaz ended a three-year layoff last month when he outclassed Pettis at UFC 241. As for Masvidal, he’s on a two-fight knockout streak. He finished Darren Till in devastating fashion in London earlier this year. “Gamebred” followed that up with the fastest knockout in UFC history, sending Ben Askren into the shadow realm in five seconds at UFC 239.

Now, two of MMA’s hottest stars at the moment will main event one of the UFC’s biggest shows of the year from Madison Square Garden.
