Former UFC bantamweight champion, Julianna Pena, targets Mayra Bueno Silva in latest verbal tirade.

Recently, Pena has significantly ramped up her trash-talking and promotional attempts, and whether you like it or not she is getting the attention she is wanting. This time, she has targeted Silva, who recently gained the best win of her career this past weekend over Holly Holm.

Julianna Peña addresses trash talk

Appearing on The MMA Hour, Pena addressed Silva’s recent trash talk, and would continue with her recent shtick and would trash Silva, but not before boasting of her own accomplishments.

“I’m the first mom champ. I’m the first to beat somebody who hadn’t been beaten in seven years and finish them,” said Pena. “I finished everybody on The Ultimate Fighter. She’s saying that I don’t have any good fights. I literally beat everybody on The Ultimate Fighter. So after that, then I fought more, and then I had that devastating knee injury. So at that point, I think I was 7-0, and then I fought Valentina.

So dropped one fight, 7-1, had a baby, came back, and then was able to win a world title. And she says that I only have two good fights. I mean, literally, I’m the baddest mother of all-time, and Myra is my biggest fan and [Amanda Nunes’] tampon holder. That’s the reality of the situation.”

“I thought I recognized her,” Pena continued. “I said, ‘Isn’t that curtain-jerker from the APEX like a few years ago?’ But yeah, then I remembered that she fought two 41-year-olds and then started talking bad about me, and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I for sure know who this chick is.’

Pena has stated that she is a sure thing to be one half of the fight for the vacant bantamweight championship, following Amanda Nunes‘ retirement.

Despite recent confirmation that inaugural bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey is not currently weighing up a rumored return to the UFC, the Riverside native has been urged to consider an Octagon comeback, by the outspoken former gold holder, Julianna Peña.

Peña, the current number one ranked bantamweight contender, has yet to return to the Octagon since she headlined a UFC 277 pay-per-view event last July in Texas, suffering a one-sided unanimous decision loss to two-time foe and common-opponent, Amanda Nunes in the pair’s title rematch.

Also last featuring in the Octagon against the retired former two-weight champion, Nunes, Californian veteran, Rousey, who has since turned her talents to professional wrestling under the WWE banner, suffered a 48-second TKO loss to the Brazilian back in 2016.

And in recent weeks, the inaugural UFC bantamweight champion has been linked with a return to the Octagon, as he informed the WWE of her plans to end her spell in the professional wrestling outfit before WrestleMania in April of next year.

Julianna Peña urges Ronda Rousey to consider a UFC return

As far as Washington native, Peña is concerned, Ronda Rousey, who has since been confirmed as not currently considering a return to mixed martial arts, should firmly consider a comeback to the UFC.

“I was hopeful, I hope Ronda (Rousey) comes back,” Julianna Peña told MMA Fighting. “She’s another who’s had an ass-whooping coming to her for ten years, same as Raquel (Pennington). So, let’s go. Sometimes [she watches Ronda Rousey in professional wrestling], but I don’t pay for cable, so i don’t follow it that closely.”

Herself expected to feature in an upcoming vacant bantamweight title fight, The Ultimate Fighter victor, Peña has been linked to fights against either the aforenoted Raquel Pennington, as well as recent winner, Mayra Bueno Silva, who is fresh from a second round guillotine win against former champion, Holly Holm just last weekend.

Mayra Bueno Silva warning to Julianna Peña oh shut up I'll smash you

Off the back of last night’s high-profile victory over former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm in her inaugural headlining clash under the UFC banner, Mayra Bueno Silva has vowed to “smash” former division queen, Julianna Peña – with the weight class still without a champion.

Turning in a blistering win over veteran former bantamweight champion, Holm in her first main event slot inside the Octagon, Minas Gerais native, Silva locked up an inverted standing guillotine choke on the Albuquerque native at the fence in the second round, forcing a tap on the feet.

The win came as Silva, the current number 10 ranked bantamweight contender’s fourth consecutively since her return to the bantamweight limit, following prior wins over Wu Yanan, and submission stoppages of Stephanie Egger, and Lina Lansberg.

In response to Mayra Bueno Silva’s stunning win over former champion, Holm, another former bantamweight titleholder, the aforenoted, Peña – who has been linked with a vacant title clash against Raquel Pennington, claimed she would defeat both the latter and Silva on the same night.

“Did I hear someone say the name of the #PeoplesChamp?” Julianna Peña tweeted. “Perfetc, get in line. I’ll do you and Raquel (Pennington) in the same night. Who else wants a beating?”

Urging the outspoken Washington native to bite her tongue in response, surging grappling talent, Silva claimed she would “smash” Peña if the duo share the Octagon in the future.

“She’s scared,” Mayra Bueno Silva told assembled media following UFC Vegas 77. “She’s funny. I love you, Julianna (Peña). But I will smash you. Look ay my fight, look at your fight. Oh, Julianna, shut up.”

Hitting her stride inside the Octagon in the wake of her bantamweight division rebirth, over the course of her professional career, the now 11-2-1 Silva has landed a whopping eight separate submission stoppages, landing victories over the likes of Gillian Robertson, and Mara Romero Borella before her current winning streak.

Mayra Bueno Silva

Julianna Pena wasted no time taking aim at the bantamweight division’s newest contender, Mayra Bueno Silva.

Bueno Silva scored an incredible second-round standing guillotine submission against former 135-pound champ Holly Holm at UFC Vegas 77 on Saturday night. With the win, ‘Sheetara’ will see herself skyrocket toward the top of the division, lining her up for a potential title opportunity in the near future.

With the bantamweight title currently vacant following ex-champ Amanda Nunes‘ retirement from the sport last month, every woman in the division has been jockeying for position, including ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ who was quick to call out Bueno Silva following her impressive finish inside The APEX.

“Did I hear someone say the name of the #peopleschamp? Perfect,” Pena tweeted. “Get in line. I’ll do you and Raquel in the same night. Who else wants a beating?”

It didn’t take long for Pena’s tweet to get back to Mayra Bueno Silva who responded during her post-fight interview. “She’s scared. She’s funny. I love you Julianna, but I will smash you,” Bueno Silva said with a laugh. “Look at my fight, look at your fight. Oh, Julianna. Shut up.”

Should Mayra Bueno Silva Jump The Line Following Her Win Against Holly Holm?

Things are most certainly looking a little jam-packed at the top of the bantamweight division. As a former titleholder, Julianna Pena sits as the No. 1 ranked contender while division veteran Racquel Pennington is seated in the No. 2 spot thanks to a career resurgence that has seen her score five straight wins inside the Octagon.

Mayra Bueno Silva has now entered the chat, likely taking over the No. 3 spot that Holly Holm previously occupied. ‘Sheetara’ has won four straight bouts with her last three coming by way of submission. In comparison, Pena and Pennington have only three finishes between them in their last 10 fights combined. That is something that should most certainly be taken into consideration when booking the inevitable bantamweight title fight to crown a new queen of the division.

Do you think Mayra Bueno Silva deserves a bantamweight title fight following her shocking victory against Holly Holm or does ‘Sheetara’ need another win before earning herself a title opportunity?

Holly Holm claims Amanda Nunes is not scared of Julianna Peña retirement UFC

Ahead of her own return tonight in the main event of UFC Vegas 77, former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm has stressed that former foe and former two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes has no fear toward former gold holder, Julianna Peña – in the wake of her retirement last month.

Holm, a former undisputed bantamweight champion, returns to the Octagon for the second time this year, headlining against surging Brazilian grappler, Mayra Bueno Silva – attempting to land her second consecutive victory following a unanimous decision win over Russian veteran, Yana Santos at UFC Fight Night San Antonio back in March.

As for Nunes, the Bahia native headlined UFC 288 back in June against common-foe, Irene Aldana, defeating the Mexican in a one-sided unanimous decision win to defend her bantamweight crown – before announcing her retirement from competition with immediate effect.

And in the aftermath of Nunes’ decision to walk away from the sport, Washington native, Peña claimed that the Brazilian was fearful of defeat against her, claiming she skirted a championship trilogy rubber match.

Holly Holm defends Amanda Nunes’ decision to retire following UFC 288

However, as far as Albuquerque veteran, Holly Holm is concerned, Nunes’ decision to retire was not influenced by an apparent fear of ex-champion, Peña.

“(Amanda) Nunes didn’t retire because she’s scared of (Julianna) Peña,” Holly Holm told MMA Fighting ahead of UFC Vegas 77. “We all know that. But Peña beat Nunes fair and square. Who knows what was going on. I’m not trying to take away from Peña at all. She went in and she won that night, so I take nothing away from that, but Nunes is not scared of Peña.”

15-6 as a professional, Holm, the current number three ranked bantamweight contender, became just the second bantamweight champion in the history of the UFC back in December 2015, knocking out inaugural champion, Ronda Rousey with a brutal second round high-kick KO in Australia

Julianna Peña claims Amanda Nunes rematch was closer than people give her credit for UFC

Despite suffering a unanimous decision loss to former two-weight UFC champion, Amanda Nunes back in July of last year in the pair’s championship rematch, former bantamweight titleholder, Julianna Peña has claimed that her unsuccessful re-run wasn’t particularly one-sided as its made out to be.

Peña, the current number one ranked bantamweight contender and former undisputed division champion, has been sidelined since headlining UFC 277 back in July of last year, suffering a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44- 50-43) loss to the former two-division gold holder.

Julianna Peña claims Amanda Nunes took the easy way out with retirement

Suffering multiple knockdowns and lacerations in her title defense rematch with Nunes, Peña, who recently went on a tirade against the Brazilian following her retirement from mixed martial arts back in June, claimed their rematch last year wasn’t as one-sided as it appeared.

“I’ll always want to fight her (Amanda Nunes) if she decides to return, absolutely,” Julianna Peña told ESPN during a recent interview. “There’s fights that are on my bucket list of things that I want to get back, things that I want to do, and she’s absolutely one of them. I definitely think she knows that because all they’re looking at is probably highlights.”

“What I would encourage fans to do is go back and watch that fight and actually take into account, without the commentary or anything, just watch the fight,” Julianna Peña explained. “You’ll see that it was a lot closer than people want to give me credit for. They see the drops, they see me getting knocked down and yeah, it absolutely happened. But I let her take the time to go make those adjustments and revamp her entire style. I felt like it was kind of a snub for her to not let me have the same opportunity.”
