Only a few short days after the combat sports world lost one of its greatest personalities when boing legend Muhammad Ali unfortunately passed in Arizona, Bellator MMA top draw Kimbo Slice has reportedly been hospitalized in Florida and is in a reported ‘dire’ situation.

The report surfaced from TMZ tonight (Mon. June , 2016) and said that Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, was admitted to a hospital near Coral Springs, Florida, earlier today, and multiple sources had informed them that Slice was in a dangerous position with few details known. Local law enforcement informed TMZ of Slice’s admittance into the hospital, and officers remain at Slice’s home attempting to gain pertinent information on his condition.

MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani was able to confirm that Slice had been admitted to a hospital and the situaton sadly did not look good:

Details of his injury and conditions are sparse at this time.

Slice recently made headlines by defeating fellow Internet brawler DaDa 5000 via TKO in an almost universally panned bout in the co-main event of Bellator 149, a result that was later changed to a no contest after Slice tested positive or a banned steroid and was given a small suspension and fine by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation.

He also gamed fame by beat Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138 last year June. The former UFC and EliteC veteran had taken over as President Scott Coker’s biggest draw during his short tenure in the promotion.

Our hearts go out to Slice and his family during this trying time.

Outside of their brief story, not a lot is known regarding what happened to Slice, why he is hospitalized and specifically what his condition is, past the point that it’s clearly something serious.

Bellator sent out the following to their media list a few minutes ago to update everyone n the condition of Dhafir Harris, better known as Dada 5000, after his loss, seemingly via exhaustion, to Kimbo Slice last night at Bellator 149:

The Harris Family would like to inform Dada’s friends and fans that Dada is ok and resting comfortably in a Houston area Hospital under the care of an incredible staff of doctors and nurses.

The doctors have now informed us that Dada had accumulated extremely high levels of potassium in his blood which led to severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure. The high potassium levels were likely caused by his 40lbs weight loss in preparation for the fight.

Thanks to the EMTs and doctors, Dada is now recovering nicely.

Dada showed the heart of a lion in the cage- not backing down throughout. He worked extremely hard preparing for the fight and stepped forward for 3 rounds against a tough veteran. He kept digging through the adversity- leaving it all in the cage for his fans and supporters. You can never take that away from him.

We’d like to thank all those who have supported Dada as well as express our sincere appreciation to Scott Coker, and the good people at BELLATOR and Spike who have been on-site to visit Dada and support the family.

We ask for the public and media to respect Dada’s privacy as he recovers.

[VIDEO] Kimbo Slice Crushes ANOTHER Can, Improves to 5-0 as Professional Boxer

Speaking of things that happened last night that were laughably predictable, Kimbo Slice is still earning his bread as a professional boxer. Well, perhaps “earning” is the wrong word. Earning implies that he is making it by winning competitive matches against reasonably credible opponents. Really, $kala is just giving Kimbo his bread at this point. Or, if you’re cheesy enough to go there, Shaw is just feeding the guy.

I will say this much: At least last night’s fight wasn’t the (potentially-worked) shitstorm that was his last fight against Brian Green. After watching Kimbo get saved by the bell against a fitness instructor making his professional boxing debut on one day’s notice followed by his aforementioned bout with Brian Green, Shaw was taking absolutely no chances when searching for an opponent this time around.

After watching Kimbo get saved by the bell against a fitness instructor making his professional boxing debut on one day’s notice followed by his aforementioned bout with Brian Green, Shaw was taking absolutely no chances when searching for an opponent this time around.

His opponent last night was a Lamar, Arkansas pugilist named Jesse Porter*, who entered the bout with a 3-4 professional boxing record. Porter had never gone the distance in his boxing career, with all seven fights ending by knockout. Furthermore, he was coming off of a knockout loss to Lee Bagan forty two seconds into the second round of their bout, which marked the longest that Porter had lasted in a fight he lost.

Sorry, spoiler alert.

Props: Zombie Prophet

Kimbo Slice is now 5-0 as a professional boxer, while Jesse Porter gets to drift back into obscurity where he belongs. But look on the bright side: It was a quick fight that delivered a knockout, and both fighters got paid more for this bout than I got paid to mock it. There’s (something resembling) dignity in knowing that.

* There’s actually some confusion as to who the hapless can was. A lot of sites are reporting that 1-0 boxer Richard Dawson was his opponent last night instead of Jesse Porter. AllTheBestFights.com’s review of the bout sums up the confusion with the unintentionally hilarious ”at the moment we don’t know exactly who is his opponent”. In a way, that’s probably for the best.

[VIDEO] Kimbo Slice Knocks the Bread Out of Brian Green in Dramatic Last-Second KO

(Chill dawg, the video’s after the jump.)

The trail of bodies left in the wake of street-certified pugilist Kimbo Slice led us to Springfield, Missouri, last night, where the fighter formerly known as Kevin Ferguson looked to extend his professional boxing career to a perfect 4-0. Slice, you may recall, was originally slated to face Mike Glenn, but Camp Kimbo pulled out of the bout after not receiving any training footage of the 0-0 boxer. Fortunately for us all, they found an undersized opponent with no pro-boxing experience to fill in at the last-minute.

Brian Green, who competes in MMA as a Middleweight, weighed in some 22lbs lighter than Slice according to the scales at WalMart. In light of Green’s considerable MMA background and Kimbo’s relative inexperience in the world of Marquess of Queensberry, this bout actually ended up being far more competitive than Icy Mike would have preferred.

Round 4 (via: YouTube/CrazyCNote13)

Green used a combination of speed and actual boxing skill to batter Kimbo’s beard in the first three rounds. The crowd chanted for the ‘underdog’ throughout the fight, though it’s quite possible they were die-hard Afropuff fans thirsty for revenge. Green had noticeably fatigued by the fourth and final frame—that kind of thing can happen when you take a bout on a few days notice—but still dutifully swung them thangs as he looked to put Slice away. Unquestionably behind on the scorecards three rounds to nil, Kimbo charged his opponent as the clock ticked down, capping off a three-punch combination with a short uppercut that dropped Green cold with three seconds left in the match. Done Da-Da.

With the dramatic come from behind knockout, Kimbo extends his pro-boxing record to a flawless 4-0, with three wins coming via KO. Whatever $kala touches turns to gold.

Video Proof That Kimbo Slice Knows Which Side His Bread is Buttered On

When SPIKE TV announced that it had hired onetime backyard brawler-turned UFC fighter Kimbo Slice to host the first instalment of its The Ultimate Fighter recap show, which will air opposite FX’s new live incarnation of the show, it looked like they may have briefly gotten the upper hand in the battle against their ex partners at Zuffa.

Leave it to Dana White and Co. to one-up the competition by trying to fuck them worse than they’ve ever been fucked before.

Somehow (okay, it was probably dollar signs and decimal points) FX convinced the gold grill-wearing Ultimate Fighter alumnus to cut a promo for TUF Live, convincing viewers to watch the new series, — a somewhat odd request, considering it runs at the same time as Kimbo’s “The Ultimate Fighter Fridays” premiere. In his defense, he could have filmed the spot before SPIKE hired him, but you would think he would have mentioned it to them beforehand to avoid looking like a fool, you know, more than he did bobbing all over shadowboxing while doing the promo.

But if Kimbo says we should avoid his show and watch the new TUF, who are we to argue? The man is a mage.

You can bet the powers that be at SPIKE are pissed they decided to go with Kimbo over James Toney and Dana likely can’t stop smiling long enough to eat his Pinkberry before it melts. Glad we don’t have their problems. Being rich and vengeful seems like a hassle, doesn’t it?
