UFC superstar Conor McGregor has welcomed Kim Kardashian to the family after learning he is a distant relative of the American socialite. The Daily Record reported earlier this month that Kardashian can trace her family lineage back to the famous cattle thief Rob Roy. Through that, she also has a link to Scottish royalty in the first King of Scots Kenneth MacAlpin via his brother Gregor, founder of the MacGregor clan. ‘Notorious’ comes from a line of Irish MacGregors who originate from the Scottish clan.

McGregor reacted to the news by tweeting, “welcome to the family”. Kardashian also seemed happy with the news posting a link to the story, alongside three crowns to her followers.

Scottish journalist and researcher Craig Williams first looked into the Kardashian family history due to the fact one of the Kardashian sisters had named their child Penelope Scotland Disick. The middle name was believed to be a homage to her mother’s family history.

McGregor has always been aware of his family’s rich history. In 2015 he talked about how his family had come from the Scottish Highlands, he said.

“My family originated from the Scottish Highlands, they fought for their independence. It’s something that runs in my family’s history, I’ve become obsessed with that a little bit. It reiterates to me that I am on the correct path my family was on before me.

“We are not in fields anymore, we are in the Octagon, we are in arenas filled with thousands of people with millions of people viewing. It gives me added motivation to fight. It’s something that is in me, it is something that my ancestors have done before me and I am simply carrying my family’s name with pride.”

Wild Rumor of the Day: Kimbo Slice Is Signing With Bellator

(I only chose this photo to enrage you further. / Props: hiphopnews24-7)

Twitter erupted today with spontaneous, unsubstantiated rumors that Kimbo Slice — yes, the former King of the Web Brawlers and occasional boxer — is in the process of signing with Bellator. Until we hear anything from a reputable source, you should only treat this as wishful thinking from a bored fanbase, like those “CM Punk to UFC” rumors that also made our tongues wag for a week.

All I can say right now is that I hope it happens. Between Bellator’s madcap pay-per-view card and that incredibawful Thompson vs. Prindle promo, Bellator has been establishing itself as North America’s premier destination for high-profile freak show MMA. Why not Kimbo? A Bellator card headlined by Kimbo Slice vs. Rampage Jackson or Kimbo Slice vs. Tito Ortiz (or Slice/Thomson 2 for that matter) would have a damn good shot at out-selling UFC 174, and it would be worth doing it just for that reason. Let’s not get precious with ourselves, okay? Bellator needs stars, and Kimbo is one of the biggest stars in MMA history. YES HE IS YES HE IS SHUT UP. Also:

Damn Saccaro, that is diabolical. And this:

AskMen.com Declares Ronda Rousey the 43rd Most Desirable Woman of 2013

(This is the last known image of #42.)

Not that it matters — because in ten days, Zorp the Surveyor will arrive to burn off our flesh with his volcano mouth and use our melted faces as fuel (Ed note: All hail Zorp) — but popular men’s interest website AskMen.com recently tallied over 2.4 million votes to determine the top 99 most desirable women of 2013, as determined by you, the people. And wouldn’t you know it, none other than inaugural UFC Rondaweight champion Ronda Rousey placed an astonishing 43rd on said list. I guess this WMMA thing is catching on after all.

Beating out rival Kim Kardashian (#98), as well as such top-shelf hotties as Heidi Klum (#61), Olivia Wilde (#54), and Scarlett Johansson (#45) and falling just ten spots behind first lady Michelle Obama, it was an impressive showing for the women’s champ to say the least. Based on all of our recent Rousey-related posts, I’m guessing most of your reactions are going to be something along the lines of “WTF is this shit?! I find hotter women scrubbing the cobblestone sidewalks at night whilst travelling from my vacation home to my second vacation home!” but does anyone honestly feel she deserves her ranking on the list, if not a higher one? And what the fuck is a Jenna Marbles (#90)?

Personally, I’m just upset that Tina Fey (#80) landed some 73 spots behind Kristen Stewart (#7), whose pouty, suicidal-girl-next-door routine couldn’t arouse me if I had a fistful of Viagra, a fifth of Jack, and six minutes left on this earth. Also, I wish Michelle Jenneke was less a track star and more a sex slave chained to a pipe in my basement, but I digress.

You can check out the list in its entirety here. But before I go, I must ask, where would you have placed Sofia Vergara between #1 and whatever is better than #1?

Ronda Rousey Says "Kim Kardashian Should Sell Lube, Not Shoes," Kim Responds

Ronda Rousey finally got Kim Kardashian‘s attention, but it wasn’t the response she was expecting.

The Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion made headlines for her anti-Kardashian rant on the red carpet at the wrap party for ESPN The Magazine’s “The Body Issue” on Wednesday night.

When asked what celebrity she disliked most, Rousey immediately went after Kardashian and the legitimacy of her celebrity status.

“You know what? I would beat the crap out of Kim Kardashian actually. Any girl who is famous and idolized because she made a sex video with some guy and that’s all that you’re known for, ‘Oh, I got my fame for [expletive],’ I think it’s pretty stupid, sorry, but it’s true.”

The red carpet interview was only the tip of the iceberg.

Rousey continued to blast Kardashian during an interview with TMZ on Thursday. She believes Kardashian is an unfit role model for teenage girls, especially her younger sister Julia.

“I think, one of the reasons why [Kim Kardashian] bothers me so much is because there’s plenty of pornstars out there that do the same thing for a living, but she’s like a glorified pornstar that’s been taken and somehow pushed to be some sort of role model. She’s selling Skechers to little kids in ads all over the place, and what kind of example does that set?

Why my little sister is watching this stuff, and thinking, ‘Wow, if I perform,’ sorry, I was a little too blatant on the red carpet when I talked. ‘If perform felacio on a C-list celebrity, I suddenly have fame and stuff.’ I mean, I don’t know. It’s wrong in every way, and if I had a chance, if I had to pick anyone, yeah of course, I would beat her up.

…This girl should be selling lube or something like that instead. Why is she selling shoes?”

In the middle of Rousey’s interview, Mike, a TMZ crew member, announced that Kardashian had responded to Rousey’s statements. According to him, Kardashian wasn’t upset at all by the comments. In fact, she thinks Rousey is “really pretty,” and she doesn’t want to say anything mean about her.

Rousey believes Kardashian made a wise choice to avoid any further confrontation.

“That’s what she said? Okay. I like her reaction. It’s alright, but I mean, what is she going to say? What could she say? I think the best move for her is to not piss me off more.”

Rousey is expected to defend her Strikeforce title for the first time against Sarah Kaufman on August 18. It’s interesting that she has spent more time talking about a non-athletic celebrity than her upcoming opponent.

Kaufman is a former Strikeforce champion, and she should provide a dangerous test for Rousey.

With that said, Rousey’s beef with Kardashian is great publicity for the growing market of women’s MMA. Kaufman is a relatively quiet personality, and everything will fall on Rousey’s shoulders to hype the fight.

Whether people tune in to see her win or lose, people want to see Rousey fought.

MMA may have finally found its female version of Chael Sonnen.
