We are officially less than four days away from UFC 131 in Vancouver, and yet even the heavily stacked card is not immune to losing a potentially monumental clash either it seems.

While the details are unknown, MMA Weekly reports that a UFC 131 preliminary bout in the light heavyweight division will be put on hold, as Igor Pokrajac has been forced to withdraw from his bout against Krzysztof Soszynski.

Again, the details are unknown, although possible visa issues are rumored to be the most likely candidate for a form of logic behind the scratching of Pokrajac from the fight.

In any event, in for Pokrajac is the returning Mike Massenzio, who has posted up an April win over Nate Kittredge prior to his return to the Octagon, where he went 1-2-0 as a middleweight.

Massenzio has returned with hopes of creating a successful stint at light heavyweight, but to do so, he’ll have to take on the unenviable task of taking on The Ultimate Fighter 8 veteran on roughly four days notice.

Likewise, Soszynski will go from facing a tough Croatian in Pokrajac to taking on a triple-threat—a wrestler, Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt and Muay Thai expert in the otherwise unknown Massenzio—in order to capitalize on the success he had against one Goran Reljic at UFC 122.

Mike Massenzio has agreed to step in on less than one week’s notice against Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 131, officials announced late Monday night.

The opportunity presented itself for Massenzio, who was released from the organization in August after losing his second fight in a row, after Igor Pokrajac was withdrew from his fight against Soszynski due to an undisclosed injury.

This marks the third opponent Soszynski has been forced to prepare for, as he was originally scheduled to meet Anthony Perosh before an injury sidelined the Australian.

Massenzio, who usually fights at middleweight, has agreed to meet Soszynski at light heavyweight. The New Jersey-native is 1-0 since leaving the UFC.

Soszynski (25-11-1) is 2-2 in his last four fights.

UFC 131, headlined by Junior dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin, airs live on pay-per-view this Saturday night from Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.

Riding an impressive four-fight win streak over some tough opponents, it might now be time for Kingsbury to be bumped up to fight some bigger name guys.

Although he has earned that chance, Kingsbury did not exactly look like a world beater and should not be thrown all the way into the deep end.

He needs some opponents that can build his name but can challenge him in the right places and make him better.

Here are the top four fights Kyle Kingsbury should take next.

Stephan Bonnar seems to be the US Representative of the UFC as he is now set to fight Karlos Vemola, a Czechoslovakian fighter who won a TKO victory over Seth Petruzelli at UFC 122 back in November. This will be Bonnar’s third match-up against a European fighter (fourth if you include the back-to-back Krzysztof Soszynski fights). Bonnar tweeted about the upcoming UFC on Versus 5 tilt from his TrashTalkinKids account today:

“Who is karlos vermola? That’s ez, Bonnar’s next fight! Just released @Jon_anik and @ngaugeinc are the first 2 know. yeah dewd!!!”

We always appreciate Bonnar’s sense of humor and his inference that he doesn’t know who the f*@# Karlos Vemola is either. It’s good to see Bonnar’s have-fun-with-it attitude at this point in his career. I mean, what the hell, right? It’s a fight!

According to Stephan Bonnar, there comes a point in every training camp where it becomes so miserable it’s almost fun.

“Every day you go through hell,” said Bonnar. “Pretty soon you’re like, I’m so sick of this. Then you settle in and it just starts growing on you. You kind of accept that the fun’s over. It’s probably kind of like being locked up in jail: the first month or so it sucks and you can’t wait to get out, but then you kind of get used to it and you forget how the good life is.”

Fortunately for Bonnar, he has a parole date in sight. Saturday night he faces Igor Pokrajac at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, which means, if nothing else, that his suffering is about to come to an end. For now, anyway.
