UFC 200 is right around the corner, and the highly-anticipated return of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar looms over the heads of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans worldwide.

Lesnar will step into the Octagon with Australian knockout artist Mark Hunt, in the main event of what has the potential to be the biggest card in UFC history.

Lesnar is known for his vicious wrestling ability while Hunt is known as one of the hardest hitting men the world has ever bared witness too, citing this bout as the old-fashioned ‘Wrestler vs Striker’ matchup we’ve come to know throughout the years.

Hunt recently spoke with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour this past Monday, courtesy of MMA Fighting, and claimed that he initially found out about the matchup the same way everyone else did:

“I heard about it the same time as everybody else did, pretty much,” Hunt said. “… I actually guessed it was probably Brock a long time ago. I guessed it was him, but I was just told to stay ready for UFC 200.

I didn’t realize it was Brock Lesnar until someone actually mentioned it, and I was like, oh wow. But I pretty much found out it was confirmed at the same time as everyone else did.”

Brock and Hunt‘The KFC King’ also stated that he believes Lesnar has been preparing for an MMA return longer than people are giving him credit for:

“I think [Lesnar] has been training a lot longer than people seem to presume he’s been training,” Hunt said. “He probably knew a long time ago about this match.

I’ve got a good couple weeks to get into it and then it’s fight week, so my guys are just coming into town now and looking forward to getting their work done.”

Since the announcement of the thunderous heavyweight clash many MMA analysts have critiqued Lesnar for ‘not liking to get hit’ in a sport where hitting and getting hit is the main objective.

While Hunt doesn’t really necessarily share an opinion on these criticisms, he did claim the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star better ‘get used to it’ because he’s not pulling any punches come July 9th:

“I don’t know, to be honest. I don’t know what the deal is with that. I mean, if you don’t like to be hit, you’re in the wrong sport,” Hunt said.

“He’s had four years off since his (last) fight, so I’m just looking forward to the match-up. It’s going to be a great fight and I’m not looking past Brock.

He’s going to be a tough fight. He’s probably been training for ages. But, I mean, getting hit in the face and everywhere, the body, is part of what we’re used to.

He should get used to it because I’m going to try to do a lot of that in the fight.”

Free-shipping-new-2014-Death-Clutch-Brock-Lesnar-Fight-Pro-Series-Short-MMA-Fight-Short-LHunt openly criticized the the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) decision to pardon Lesnar from the four month testing period for retired fighters who re-join the UFC, however, Hunt admitted he believed the decision was for Lesnar to not be tested until after UFC 200, a belief that was later cleared up:

“He’s getting tested now, so I think that’s the main thing,” Hunt said. “In the end, I think everyone should be treated fairly. If you’re getting tested, everyone should be tested.

But like you probably said, he wasn’t part of us when USADA came. But I still think he should be tested. I mean, he’s probably being tested now, but I think everyone should have the same playing field.”

Lesnar and Hunt will take center stage in the co-main event of the evening come July 9th, and the ‘Super Samoan’ is hoping that his counterpart comes in like a ‘crazy man’ so he can send him crashing to the canvas for an early nap:

“I don’t know, to be honest,” Hunt said. “I mean, I’m hoping he comes in like a crazy man and then I put him to sleep. That’s basically what I hope is going to happen.

But I don’t think he’s that stupid. I think he’s going to be a bit smarter and test the waters first, but we’ll see what happens on the night.”

UFC 200 takes place live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 9, 2016.

Ahead of their Octagon meeting in the co-main event of the landmark UFC 200 pay-per-view event scheduled for next Saturday in Las Vegas, Mark Hunt continues to make the media rounds to promote his highly-anticipated showdown with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.

Hunt recently appeared as a guest on Ariel Helwani’s “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com and spoke about Lesnar receiving an exemption from USADA that allowed him to bypass the same rules that any other retired fighter would have had to go through. As Hunt points out, however, he feels it’s good that Lesnar is at least being tested leading up to their fight.

“He’s getting tested now, so I think that’s the main thing. In the end, I think everyone should be treated fairly. If you’re getting tested, everyone should be tested. But like you probably said, he wasn’t part of us when USADA came. But I still think he should be tested. I mean, he’s probably being tested now, but I think everyone should have the same playing field.”

When asked about the actual game plan for his bout with Lesnar, “The Super Samoan” made it clear that he would like to score a knockout.

The Hunt-Lesnar bout serves as the co-main event underneath Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones 2 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. UFC 200 takes place on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar may have been out of the Octagon for four-and-half-years, but that doesn’t mean age has made him any less outspoken or polarizing.

Heading into his monumental return fight against No. 8-ranked heavyweight Mark Hunt in the co-man event of July 9’s UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) from Las Vegas, the WWE superstar has hoarded many of MMA’s biggest headlines to himself, a true testament to his massive drawing star power. He’ll always be a controversial figure, and it was surprising the WWE lent him to the UFC for this proposed “one-off” bout.

It’s even more surprising considering the recent words of WWE’s chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon, who told Business Insider the company was not “supporting” Lesnar’s return to MMA despite the fact that they obviously worked out some kind of agreement with the UFC to have him fight at UFC 200.

True to form, Lesnar responded in classic fashion during yesterday’s UFC 200 media call (via MMA Junkie), portraying his views in short, simple, and succinct fashion:

“I really don’t give a s***. I don’t know, I don’t care what she says. I really haven’t given it much thought, I really haven’t,” Lesnar said. “Nothing’s going to change really. I’m looking forward to just stepping in the cage again. I’m waiting for that moment for the door to shut. Ask me after the fight. I don’t what the hell is going to happen.”

The polarizing behemoth isn’t looking to hide his true feelings as always, and given his almost legendary ability to make people pay to watch his fights, it’d be hard to envision either the UFC or WWE actually caring.

It’s part of what makes Lesnar so popular, and that attitude is no doubt going to lend to some huge pay-per-view (PPV) numbers for UFC 200 when it’s all settled.

As for whether or not he goes back to a WWE ring with his tail between his legs afterward, well, that’s up to “The Super Samoan.”

Quote: Brock Lesnar Was Just An ‘Effective’ Wrestler

Not surprisingly, the vast majority of the MMA world is anxiously awaiting the return of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, who will return to the Octagon to face power striker Mark Hunt in the co-main event of July 9’s blockbuster UFC 200 from Las Vegas.

You can count former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen among those people.

Never one to miss an opportunity to let his opinion on MMA’s hottest topics be known, ‘Uncle Chael’ sat down with Submission Radio this week to discuss Lesnar’s return and the massive attention it brings:

“He’s a once-in-a-lifetime attraction. If Brock’s fighting, you don’t want to miss it. And this truly will be his last fight. Any time there’s speculation ‘is this gonna be the guy’s last fight?,’ that helps to draw, that helps make you go ‘I don’t wanna miss it.’ For sure this is Brock’s last fight. So yeah man, people want to see it. I’m one of those people.”

Yet even though he’s excited to see Lesnar back in the UFC, he proclaimed a cautionary warning that the hulking WWE superstar, who has been out of action since UFC 141 almost five years ago, was going to get ‘wrecked’ by Hunt, and it was more than obvious:

“You gotta understand, Brock hasn’t been in the ring in five years, Hunt was the number one contender within the last calendar year. So no, you don’t have to be exactly an MMA expert to be able to see how this fight goes. Hunt’s gonna wreck him.”

Continuing about his reasoning for the prediction that many agree with, Sonnen noted that Lesnar held a massive size advantage when he won an NCAA Division I national championship in wrestling, the skillset which most believe he will have to utilize in order to have a shot at beating ‘The Super Samoan’:

“I’ll put this in perspective for you. In the NCAA when he won his national title, he was 265 pounds, which was the limit. In the finals, he had a guy that was 220 pounds and he had to go into double overtime with him. There’s not very many wrestlers alive, if any, that if they had a 45-pound weight advantage couldn’t put that guy away in about 30 seconds.”

National title or not, however, Sonnen thinks Lesnar was an effective, albeit not especially technical, wrestler, who used his size to maintain position and get the win. That said, Sonnen predicted a similar strategy might not work against Hunt at UFC 200:

“So he was an effective wrestler, but you know, he had some size and he had a lot of other things to help him get his hand raised. It wasn’t skill and technique. He kept good position, he was a good competitor and he achieved some really great things. So I don’t think that a guy as short as Hunt is just gonna get bum-rushed and taken down.”

No. 8-ranked UFC heavyweight Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt is without question one of the heaviest hitters in the sport of mixed martial arts. If there is one thing we’ve learned in the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) short partnership with the UFC, it’s that they don’t play around when it comes to testing it’s athletes.

USADA has reportedly tested former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar five times since he was added to the program two weeks ago, according to the agency’s website, and MMAFighting later confirmed the news with UFC vice president of health and performance Jeff Novitzky.

While we await on Lesnar’s test results to be released, Novitzky stated he wouldn’t be surprised if ‘The Beast’ was tested a few more times before stepping into the Octagon at UFC 200 this July:

“I’d expect there are even more to come as well before UFC 200,” Novitzky said.

Lesnar (5-3) is a former UFC heavyweight champion who hasn’t seen Octagon action since his disappointing showing against current title challenger Alistair Overeem, in their main event bout at UFC 141 in December of 2011.

The current World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar has been granted a ‘one-off’ UFC appearance by Vince McMahon, to step inside the Octagon at the blockbuster UFC 200 event this July.

Lesnar will collide with Australian knockout artist Mark Hunt in the co-main event of the colossal card in ‘Sin City’.

UFC 200 takes place live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 9, 2016.
