Former WSOF Champion Marlon Moraes has officially agreed to fight Jimmie Rivera at an upcoming UFC event.

The bantamweight contender shared a photo of the signed contract this weekend on his official Twitter account.

In the post, it was revealed that the fight would be against Rivera at UFC on FOX 28.

Moraes noted in the post on social media that he is willing to fight in March in case Rivera doesn’t want to fight next month. He wrote the following:

“Here you go @JimmieRivera135 I signed my bout agreement. @ufc on fox. I also agreed to fight you on march 3rd choose what day you want me to beat your ass B-I-T-C-H @seanshelby @danawhite @AliAbdelaziz00.”

Rivera issued the following statement to BloodyElbow.com:

“Monday I will be making (an) official statement on everything in the past weeks. The last time my manager spoke to (UFC matchmaker) Sean (Shelby) it was about the possibility of fighting Cody (Garbrandt), since he says he is healthy and ready to fight.”

If you recall, just last month, Moraes offered face Rivera on short notice at UFC 219 after John Lineker was forced out of the bout with an injury. At the end of the day, both fighters couldn’t come together to make a deal, and thus, Rivera was pulled from the card.

UFC on FOX 27 is set to take place on February 24, 2018, at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

The main card will air on FOX while the preliminary card will be split broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Punches Angela Magana At UFC Athlete Retreat

The UFC Athlete Retreat in Las Vegas in May was supposed to be an opportunity for fighters to relax, have fun and network, but instead, it turned into a battleground between two bitter rivals.

For several months beforehand, strawweight fighter Angela Magana had been waging an unprovoked cyberbullying campaign against the featherweight star, making fun of her appearance in a series of unflattering memes and messages.

Angered by the insults, ‘Cyborg’ took it upon herself to confront her foe face-to-face at the retreat, but Magana remained defiant and made it clear she had no intention of apologizing, leading to the Brazilian star punching her in the face.

In the aftermath of the incident ‘Cyborg’ received support from fans and other UFC fighters for confronting her tormentor, but Magana ignored the backlash and reported the incident to the police, claimed to have been treated in hospital for a cut lip and ‘cervical strain’ and threatened to file a lawsuit against her rival.

’Cyborg’ was later charged with misdemeanor battery by the Las Vegas Police Department.

Commission Recommends Four UFC Fighters Move Up In Weight

The California State Athletic Commission has recommended four UFC fighters to move up a weight class following UFC Fresno earlier this last month.

Marlon Moraes, Iuri Alcantara, Davi Ramos and Luke Sanders, all of whom competed on the Fresno card, were all told to move up a division, as all four men fought at more than 10 percent of the contracted fight weight.

The UFC and necessary governing bodies have implemented such plans due to recent issues with dehydration and drastic weight cuts, which inevitably affects fighters’ stamina and overall performance.

The CSAC says they will no longer grant licenses to the above-stated fighters to fight at the weight classes they are cutting so much weight to get to, meaning said fighters will either have to go up a weight class or diet and manage their weight better to stay within the 10 percent limit.

Moraes scores an emphatic knockout over Aljamain Sterling in just over a minute into their bantamweight encounter, a victory that would have put the Brazilian in title contention prior to this revelation. Now, Moraes will have to consider moving up to featherweight in order to be properly licensed to fight.

The CSAC says they will not grant these men licenses at their current weight classes “without extensive medical documentation from a licensed physician certifying the weight class is appropriate and verified by CSAC physicians.”

Moraes gained over 14 percent back following weigh-ins, coming in 155 pounds for a 135 pound contest. Alcantara and Sanders also gained nearly 20 pounds from weigh-ins to fight day. Meanwhile, Ramos went from 155.8 pounds to a whopping 179, a 15 percent increase in weight from weigh-ins to fight night.

It’s been well documented that Jimmie Rivera was scheduled to take on former champion Dominick Cruz at this weekend’s UFC 219 event. Once Cruz suffered an injury, John Lineker stepped up to accept the fight against Rivera.

Just last week, it was reported that Lineker has also suffered an injury that has forced him off the card as well.

Now, Rivera is saying he’d be willing to fight in a 138-pound catchweight contest to make it happen against top prospect and former WSOF Champion Marlon Moraes.

“Marlon, let’s do the fight at 140,” Rivera said in a video posted on Twitter. “You said you wanted the fight. Got to be professional. I’m giving you four pounds. 140. Let me know.”

Moraes’ manager, Ali Abdelaziz, then made his feelings known on the 138-pound offer quite clear on Twitter by writing the following:

Unfortunately, It seems negotiations aren’t exactly heading in the right direction.

“Merry Christmas everybody! @JimmieRivera135 now you fight on my terms. You turn down fight with me two times now I’m ready to fight you buddy on my terms not your terms I’m going to remind you of old memories you know what I’m sayin @danawhite @seanshelby @Mickmaynard2.”
