Conor McGregor offered a brief retort to former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who argued McGregor will be overmatched in the ring when he faces off with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Aug. 26.

That’s nice Mike, but you’re looking at the new Don King here, son,” McGregor tweeted Tuesday. “Money is mine.”

Speaking with Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast, Tyson said McGregor will “get killed boxing” against Mayweather (via SI.com’s Chris Chavez):

“I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: Can the boxer beat the MMA guy? McConor put his dumba— in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby. McConor can’t kick and grab and stuff so he won’t stand much of a chance.

“McGregor took the biggest sucker rules in the history of boxing.”

Tyson is certainly in the majority of fans who view McGregor as a decided underdog when he faces off with the unbeaten Mayweather. According to OddsShark, Mayweather is a 2-11 favorite.

McGregor has often been praised for his striking ability, but that’s within the realm of mixed martial arts. Being a good striker for an MMA fighter isn’t the same as being a skilled boxer.

On June 29, McGregor and Mayweather shared clips from their pre-fight training, and the difference in skill between the two stars was readily apparent:

Mayweather is 40 years old and hasn’t fought professionally since his victory over Andre Berto in September 2015. However, that doesn’t change the fact he’s one of the greatest defensive boxers in the sport’s history.

No matter how hard he trains, McGregor is facing an almost impossible race to catch up to somebody who’s among the most technically gifted boxers ever.

The highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor will be shown live in movie theaters around the United States on Aug. 26.

On Tuesday, Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reported that the event, which will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will air in select movie theaters. That broadcast will be identical to the Showtime pay-per-view telecast. Tickets to theater showings will range from about $15 to $25 compared to the $99.95 price for the high-definition pay-per-view feed.

The special viewing experience stems from an agreement between Fathom Events and Mayweather Promotions, which have teamed up to provide similar opportunities for Money’s prior bouts.

“The buzz that my fight against Conor McGregor is getting has been great already, so what better way to watch this larger-than-life event than on the big screen?” Mayweather said. “We brought boxing back to movie theaters eight years ago, and it was a huge success. But this event is on a different level, and I’m so glad we are giving fans another way to see all the action. Grab your popcorn because this is a fight no one will want to miss.”

Mayweather, a 49-0 five-division boxing champion, and McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion, recently completed a week-long worldwide media tour to promote the fight.

Though it’s unclear how the MMA star will perform outside the confines of the Octagon, the hype surrounding the cross-sport battle has continued to grow.

The fight is projected to rake in $606.1 million in revenue, just shy of the $623.5 million made by Mayweather’s underwhelming May 2015 superfight with Manny Pacquiao, per Darren Rovell of ESPN.com.

Much of the buildup to the fight has played out like a movie script, as a relative unknown from Ireland who quickly rose through the combat ranks has earned a massive payday against one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport who’ll be looking for a milestone 50th victory.

So, perhaps it’s fitting their clash will be shown in theaters next month.

If you want to see Floyd Mayweather take on Conor McGregor in person on Aug. 26, you better be prepared to fork over a lot of money.

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, official tickets went on sale Monday for people who have a Ticketmaster code. Those codes alone have sold for up to $200 on eBay, just giving someone the ability to purchase a ticket.

Rovell also noted how much a fan has already paid for a pair of decent tickets:

Before fees, tickets range from $500 just to get into the door to $10,000 for ringside, per Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes. There is also a limit of two per household.

According to Rovell, tickets for the 2015 bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao featured a price range of $1,500 to $10,000, although there were fewer seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena than the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where the upcoming bout will take place.

Meanwhile, prices are expected to be much higher on the second-hand market with ringside tickets potentially reaching six figures. Considering how much some are spending just for codes, it’s difficult to project the upcoming costs.

For those not able to get out to Vegas, it will cost $99.95 to see the fight on pay-per-view in high definition, the same price as Mayweather vs. Pacquaio.

Mike Tyson does not believe Conor McGregor stands a chance against Floyd Mayweather.

The former boxer revealed in an interview with podcast Pardon My Take that he believes McGregor made a serious mistake agreeing to boxing rules for the fight (h/t Chris Chavez of SI.com):

“McGregor is going to get killed boxing. I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: Can the boxer beat the MMA guy? McConor [sic] put his dumba*** in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby. McConor [sic] can’t kick and grab and stuff so he won’t stand much of a chance.”

“McGregor took the biggest sucker rules in the history of boxing.”

Tyson also said he would have allowed MMA rules if he had ever fought McGregor.

Frankly, Tyson has a point here. McGregor is at a pronounced disadvantage against Mayweather by fighting him using boxing rules. While Mayweather has boxed his entire life and has never lost in his professional career, going 49-0, McGregor has fought using completely different rules in the UFC.

Put another way: There are very few, if any, professional boxers near Mayweather’s weight division who would be favored against him.

Now, this isn’t to say that McGregor can’t pull off the upset. He has the combination of power and speed to give any fighter issues. Seven of his nine wins in the UFC have come by either TKO or KO by punches. There’s no question that McGregor can take a beating and keep pressing forward.

If McGregor can get into Mayweather’s guard and consistently pressure him and wear him down, he can use his superior power to potentially win the fight. But that’s been the game plan for many boxers before him, none of whom succeeded against Mayweather’s speed, precision and boxing IQ.

And Tyson, at least, doesn’t believe an MMA-fighter-turned-boxer will be the first to pull off the feat.

Abi Clarke, the girlfriend of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., has reportedly been harassed by fans of Conor McGregor ahead of the pair’s fight next month.

According to Ed Gleave of the Daily Star Sunday, Clarke on Thursday had a brick thrown through her window at her home in Essex, England. It had a note attached to it that read “F–k the Mayweathers,” which is “often chanted by McGregor fans.”

Per Gleave, Clarke and Mayweather have “secretly been dating for months” and she was targeted “within hours of the news breaking” that Mayweather and McGregor were going to fight Aug. 26.

In addition, Clarke is said to have been confronted by three individuals in the street and verbally abused. “You’re loose,” the trio in question are alleged to have said. “Mayweather’s gonna die.”

A source quoted in the report said Clarke, who was a regular on the cast of reality television show The Only Way Is Essex, is “worried about her safety.”

“It was horrific,” said a friend quoted in the report. “Abi was understandably shaken by what happened.

“When neighbours went round to offer support, she was having a panic attack.”

Clarke posted the following snap of herself alongside Mayweather on Instagram in August 2016:

According to the report, Clarke will be in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena to back Mayweather when he takes on McGregor in a bout said to be worth £500 million.

Mayweather has not been in a professional boxing ring for nearly two years but has come out of retirement to take on the UFC sensation in a much-anticipated contest. The man known as Money boasts a perfect 49-0 record and is considered by many to be the finest boxer of his generation.

McGregor, by contrast, made his millions in MMA. The Irishman is the current UFC lightweight champion, though the bout with Mayweather will be his first in professional boxing.

Draymond Green Tells Conor McGregor to Take off Warriors Jersey on Instagram

Draymond Green is not a Conor McGregor fan.

The Golden State Warriors forward responded to a photo of McGregor in a Warriors jersey by writing on Instagram, “We rocking with Floyd bro not you…take that off bruh.”

McGregor responded to Green in the comments, saying of the No. 23 jersey: “That’s C.J Watson mate. I don’t know who the f–k you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school.”

He added: “Now ask yourself why I’m rocking C.J. when I don’t know or give a f–k about basketball. I dribble heads off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here kid.”

So why wear a Watson jersey? From USA Today‘s Martin Rogers:

“Back in January, back when the fight still seemed improbable, McGregor took aim at his opponent’s ugly domestic violence record. Mayweather spent time in prison for battering Josie Harris, mother to three of his children, in September 2010.

Having split with Harris, she says he entered her home in the middle of the night and was infuriated to find messages from NBA player C.J. Watson on her phone. Mayweather’s son, Koraun, then 10, told the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that he had seen his father on top of Harris—hitting and kicking her.”

McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are set to face off Aug. 26 in one of the more intriguing fights in recent memory. That’s due to McGregor’s background as an MMA fighter, not a boxer, and Mayweather’s perfect 49-0 record on the line.

The buildup to the fight has been controversial, however, with many decrying the amount of racial insensitivity on display.

As Khaled A. Beydoun of The Undefeated wrote:

“Boxing’s checkered history of capitalizing on racial and ethnic rivalries to sell bouts has taken a turn for the worse with this unprecedented megafight, with racist taunts and bigoted trash talk showcased, loudly and vividly, throughout the four-city press tour that concluded in London on July 14.”

Among other comments, McGregor told Mayweather to “dance for me, boy” during the press tour. Mayweather has hardly been an angel, however, using misogynistic and homophobic language during the lead-up to the fight.

It’s unclear if McGregor’s behavior during the press tour is the reason Green is pulling for Mayweather or if he is simply a fan of the undefeated boxer. But if two of the loudest men in sports, Green and McGregor, are about to exchange a war of words online, things could heat up quickly.
