Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will have their first press conference at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on July 11 for their highly anticipated fight.

Tickets for the press conference will go on sale Friday at 3 p.m. ET.

Mayweather and McGregor are set to battle Aug. 26 in Paradise, Nevada.

The duo will have a long publicity tour for the bout, including a trip to London for a press conference in Wembley Stadium, per Richard Conway of BBC Sport.

Fans can expect a lot of this type of promotion with the matchup expected to be one of the biggest boxing events in history. According to Keith Idec of Boxing Scene, Mayweather is expecting to take home at least $100 million in the bout, with McGregor getting at least $75 million.

Mayweather is undefeated in 49 bouts in his boxing career and is coming out of retirement for this matchup, which would represent a big enough draw regardless of opponent. However, McGregor adds to the intrigue as one of the biggest stars in the UFC. And he’s attempting to make the conversion to boxing against one of the best fighters in the history of the sport.

The bout itself should be memorable, but the press conferences will be fun as well with the way each competitor likes to trash-talk.

According to OddsShark, Mayweather is listed as a -650 favorite with McGregor coming in as a +425 underdog.

Former UFC superstar Chuck Liddell expressed his belief Wednesday that Floyd Mayweather Jr. needs to score an early knockout of Conor McGregor in their Aug. 26 fight to make a statement.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Liddell also said he doesn’t anticipate Mayweather pressing the issue: “I don’t think Floyd will come after him. Floyd will be happy making the money and running around.”

The 47-year-old Liddell had a career MMA record of 21-8, and he is a former UFC light heavyweight champion.

He also has some level of experience when it comes to McGregor’s transition from MMA to boxing, as Liddell was a kickboxer who went 20-2 in 22 professional bouts.

McGregor is set to face arguably one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the history of the sport, however, and a man who owns a perfect 49-0 record.

To Liddell’s point, Mayweather has largely relied on winning by decision in recent years, as his last knockout victory came over Victor Ortiz in 2011.

Due to his quickness and defensive ability, Mayweather’s best strategy against McGregor may be to simply avoid big power punches and pick the Irishman apart with counters.

Per OddsShark, Mayweather is a 7-50 favorite, while McGregor is listed as a 5-1 underdog.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Sponsor Asking Price Reportedly $10m

WME-IMG, owners of the UFC, have put a $10 million price tag on the rights to be the title sponsor of the Aug. 26 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com.

WME-IMG, owners of the UFC, have put a $10 million price tag on the rights to be the title sponsor of the Aug. 26 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com.

Per Rovell, “The $10 million would nearly double boxing’s largest single-fight sponsorship, the $5.6 million that Tecate paid for Mayweather-Pacquiao in May 2015.”

Rovell continued, “The sponsoring company would get its logo at the center of the ring at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, its branding on ring girls, on two of the ropes and in the two nonfighter corners of the ring. The deal also includes sponsorship of the first minute of every round on the broadcast and $500,000 in tickets.”

Sponsorship opportunities are also being offered in each corner of the ring, on both Mayweather and McGregor’s sides. If the fight ultimately sells those sponsorships at those price points, Rovell reported it would be the largest sponsorship package ever sold at a fight.

Certainly, it’s hard to imagine a fight with more intrigue than Mayweather vs. McGregor. Mayweather is returning from retirement and seeking the 50th win of his career. He has never lost a boxing match. McGregor, meanwhile, is transitioning from the UFC Octagon—where he has won championships in the lightweight and featherweight division—to the boxing ring for the fight.

Plus, both Mayweather and McGregor are the biggest personalities in their respective sports. The storylines for the fight, then, are both clear and easily marketable. Will Mayweather be in top form after retiring? Can McGregor put up any sort of a challenge fighting a totally different style? If the fight is compelling and closely contested, will future UFC-boxing crossover fights offer similar appeal?

Add it all up, and it isn’t surprising the asking price for sponsors is so high. One storyline that has never been subtle in regards to this fight: It’s all about the money.

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury believes Conor McGregor will take just 35 seconds to knock out Floyd Mayweather when the two men meet on August 26.

Mayweather is the big favourite to prevail when the pair go head-to-head in what promises to be an intriguing tussle. However, despite his unfamiliarity with the sweet science, Fury told iFL TV McGregor can get the job done quickly:

“I think McGregor will knock him out in the first 35 seconds, like he done to Jose Aldo” Fury said. “I think McGregor will do him inside one round. Come on McGregor!”

The boxer then said he was planning to call out Hulk Hogan in his next bout, suggesting his answers may well have been tongue in cheek.

Ahead of their highly anticipated Aug. 26 fight, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor received invitations to appear on WWE Raw from Superstar Triple H on Tuesday.

In an interview with Sky Sports (h/t Luke Brown of the Independent), The Game praised both competitors and expressed his belief that they could benefit from showing up on Raw:

“One thing Floyd Mayweather is, is entertaining. One thing Conor McGregor is, is entertaining, and it’s funny that you say it’s sports entertainment. I’d invite both guys to showcase what they do on Monday Night Raw because there is no bigger platform that they can have to show the world, and tell the world, who they are and why they’re the man.”

Mayweather has a significant advantage entering the fight since he is a perfect 49-0 as a boxer, while McGregor has never had a professional boxing match, but the Cerebral Assassin fully understands the appeal of the showdown:

“All sports is entertainment, the news is entertainment today, it’s just the way of the world. This is what people do with their time. It’s no different. I think there is an interest level there. Can a world-class boxer, probably the best ever, can he stand in the ring with an MMA guy, and can that MMA guy bring his striking skills up to the level of someone, like say, a Floyd Mayweather? The one thing it will be, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is entertaining.”

While Mayweather and McGregor are both known for their athletic excellence in their respective sports, they reached prominence due in large part to their ability to talk trash and promote themselves.

That makes them ideal fits for the world of professional wrestling.

McGregor ruffled some feathers last year when he spoke ill of WWE and its performers when asked on a conference call if he would ever consider signing with the company:

“I have thought about [WWE]. For the most part, I think these guys are p—ies, to be honest. They’re messed-up p—ies if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar]; he got in and fought, but at the end of the day, he was juiced up to the f–king eyeballs. How can I respect that?”

As for Mayweather, he already has experience with WWE, as he faced and defeated Big Show in 2008 at WrestleMania 24 in Orlando, Florida.

Raw could be an ideal venue for a face-to-face altercation between Mayweather and McGregor, while WWE’s flagship show would certainly receive a massive ratings boost under those circumstances.
