Bellator’s roster of talent continues to expand, but last night we saw the welterweight division shaken up. UFC, Strikeforce and Cage Rage veteran Paul Daley was back, and he left a trail of destruction in the co-main event. Facing the dangerous ‘Irish Bad Boy’ Brennan Ward, ‘Semtex’ put on a striking clinic. After a spinning elbow to separate the clinch, Daley unleashed a flying knee with devastating intentions. Once it landed, Ward fell flat to the canvas, later being carried out by stretcher.

Having signed Rory MacDonald in 2016, BMMA has a lot of interesting fights to make now. Already a force at welterweight is English striker Michael ‘Venom’ Page, and Daley’s highlight reel knockout adds to the intrigue. Following his first round win at Bellator 170, Daley quickly challenged MacDonald to fight him.

Where You At, Rory?

Claiming he’d KO his fellow UFC veteran, ‘Semtex’ spurred a response from MacDonald. Since signing with Bellator in August last year, ‘Red King’ has been without an opponent. Possibly taking some time to recover from his bloody UFC wars, MacDonald has been making media appearances for BMMA. Here’s what ‘The Canadian Psycho’ said in response to Daley:

Venom Also Reacts

Keeping with the 170-pound Bellator picture, Michael Page also had something to say about Paul Daley. Seeing the similarities between Daley’s KO of Ward, and his own against Cyborg, ‘Venom’ had the following to say:

Fights To Make

It’s time for Bellator to continue making big fights, Daley vs. Ward was a good start for the welterweight category. The ‘circus era’ of Bellator needs to become a thing of the past if they want to get up there with the UFC. Ironically it’s some of the UFC’s former stars who have been, and could well make that a reality. Fights to make for Paul Daley? Page or MacDonald, but given recent trends, the Canadian is more likely, even though he hasn’t fought in six months.

Video: Michael “Venom” Page Trolls Ronda Rousey Again

Bellator star Page has mocked the nature of Ronda Rousey’s loss to Amanda Nunes.

Earlier this week, Bellator’s own “MVP” trolled the former champ with a video entitled “Do the Ronda Rousey”, following her stunning loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

This was far from well received by Rousey’s team, and most notably her partner [UFC Heavyweight] Travis Browne.  Browne, who is also trained by Edmond Tarverdyan,  took to Twitter to make his feelings known to Page. The tweet below was later deleted:

Now, in what appears to be further goading, Page uploaded another video to Instagram titled “When you get coached by your FRIENDS”.

Rousey’s loss to Nunes has raised questions regarding her abilities to compete in the UFC. Following a career in which she systematically dominated her opponents prior to her loss to Holly Holm in Melbourne, Australia at UFC 193. The internet has been awash with memes and videos poking fun at the ex-135lb champions whimpering display against “The Lioness”.

While “MVP” was not the only one to roast Rousey following her defeat, he looks undeterred in keeping the game going. Will a full-blown social media war develop between Browne and Page, or will the former decide to let things go in a hope that the story of the week in MMA will eventually cool off?

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s big comeback is still being hotly debated. Less than one week after Rousey’s crushing loss, the internet has proved again to be a harsh and unforgiving place. Fans have been flooding social media feeds with memes and gifs of ‘Rowdy’s’ 48-second loss to Amanda Nunes. After her loss to Holly Holm, Rousey faced a similar backlash, but there have been a few key differences this time. Firstly, the reactions have been notably more divided this time around. Coming to Rousey’s defense, many followers have been blowing up over the harsh content being shared.

Another key difference is the reaction from fellow fighters, a few in particular. Immediately after defeating Rousey on December 30, the champion Nunes shared a meme she’d reportedly been holding on to for two weeks. It wasn’t only ‘The Lioness’ who was firing shots, as Michael Page trolled ‘Rowdy’ with his homemade video. Showing ‘Venom’ mocking Rousey’s footwork, the short clip went viral within hours.

Not Done Yet

Responding with a Tweed and delete ‘f*ck you’ to Page, Travis Browne was one of many angry reactions to the Bellator star’s video. Apparently he’s not done spitting venom just yet, though. Check out Page’s latest troll of Ronda Rousey’s striking game:

Coach Edmond Too?

Since UFC 207, Edmond Tarverdyan has found himself on the media’s chopping block. Page is clearly joining in on the running joke, but is he taking these antics a little too far. After crushing Cyborg’s skull, Page rolled out a pokeball in his celebration. Many felt given the nature of Santos’ injury, the joking around was perhaps in bad taste. Considering ‘Rowdy’s’ admission of depression after her first loss, is Page touching a raw nerve? Obviously nobody is above humour, but as a fellow fighter should ‘Venom’ retract his fangs on this subject?

Since last Friday’s (December 30) UFC 207, the internet has once again exploded with Ronda Rousey mania. After a year away from the octagon, ‘Rowdy’ attempted to make a big comeback against Amanda Nunes. As it turned out, the previously dominant star bit off more than she could chew. Taking care of business in 48 seconds, ‘The Lioness’ left Rousey with two straight losses and some decisions to make. Having already discussed retirement before UFC 207, Rousey’s future as a fighter is now potentially over.

When all is said and done, ‘Rowdy’s’ accomplishments in the octagon can never be erased. This did not stop the internet from reacting to UFC 207 with a barrage of brutal memes, though. Taking it to a whole new level this time, social media is still gushing, awash with memes and gifs of Rousey’s latest defeat. One particular troll job came from a fellow fighter in Michael ‘Venom’ Page. Releasing a video of himself dancing and mocking Rousey, the Bellator welterweight showed it’s not only fans who can be somewhat harsh.

Travis Browne Responds

UFC heavyweight and boyfriend of Rousey, Travis Browne is not amused by Page’s antics. Given the nature of the former champion’s difficulties after the Holm loss at UFC 193, this comes as no surprise. Taking to his Twitter account, ‘Hapa’ ‘tweeted & deleted’ this fight challenge to Page:

Catchweight?

It seems Ronda Rousey’s latest return has everybody talking about the sport again. Although she was out of the media all year, including during the pre-fight, ‘Rowdy’ continues to dominate the headlines. Did the UFC rush their biggest star’s comeback? Perhaps so, ultimately she may have been better served taking a ‘tune up’ fight before challenging Nunes. Props to WMMARankings for picking up the Tweet before it got taken down.

Final thoughts-did Michael Page go too far with his latest antics?

Bellator 158 went down this past weekend (Sat., July 16, 2016) from the O2 Arena in London, England, and welterweight contender Michael “Venom” Page continued his rise through the ranks with a devastating flying knee knockout of Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos. Unfortunately, the knockout has been plagued by a simply horrific and upsetting injury suffered by Santos, as he left the arena with a fractured skull.

Despite the seriousness of the injury, however, “Cyborg” appears to be in good spirits, as he recently said that ‘nothing happened’, and that MVP ‘only broke the eggshell’. The Brazilian also revealed that his brain is well:

“I’m all right. Nothing happened.” Santos told Combate. “Everyone is so worried about me. They’re making fundraisers, but I don’t need anything. I’m really fine. He only broke the eggshell, but nothing happened to my brain. Bellator didn’t deny me anything, they’re helping me with everything.”

“Cyborg” has yet to go under surgery as of this moment, but he’s actually left the hospital in London and will head back to the United States as he simply felt as if there was no reason to stay in England:

“I didn’t want to stay in the hospital because I didn’t feel anything. I had no reason to stay there. I left and I will wait a couple of days to return to the United States and I’ll have my surgery there. Nobody needs to worry. Everything is fine.”

Details on “Cyborg’s” upcoming surgery are currently unclear at this time, but we here at LowKickMMA wish him the best of luck and a full recovery.

Michael “Venom” Page Aims To Be Royce Gracie Of Striking

Bellator welterweight contender Michael “Venom” Page continued his rise through the sport in his home of London, England yesterday (July 16, 2016) at Bellator 158, scoring a brutal flying knee knockout over “Cyborg” Santos. “MVP” has made a name for himself by showcasing his flashy and unique striking style, and he plans to revolutionize the sport with that very skill set.

Speaking to MMAJunkie in the aftermath of the bout, the 29-year-old said that he’d like to be the Royce Gracie of striking:

“So many people have titles,” Page explained. “Not everyone can create a legacy in a sport.

“My standup style is completely different than anybody out there. That’s the kind of thing I want. The way the Gracies – Royce is here somewhere – what he did to the sport of MMA is what I want to do to the sport of MMA.”

Despite having three submission victories to his credit, striking is clearly the bread and butter of Page, and his puzzle hasn’t been solved to date as he boasts an undefeated professional record of 11-0. “Venom” has appeared to be on his way to stardom, and confidence has never been an issue for him, as he truly feels as if he’s the main attraction every time he fights. As for the future, “MVP” will simply look to keep knocking off opponents one by one:

“I always say, I don’t care who the main event is – I’m always the main event,” Page said. “I always go out to steal the show. I always go out to put on a show, and I know I have that ability.

“Again, Cyborg is a very credible opponent, and I wish him all the best. … But for me, it’s just another name. I keep saying it, but I genuinely believe for me, it’s just another name. I’m just ticking them off one by one.”

With his lengthy winning streak still intact, Page may very well be nearing a shot at 170-pound gold, although he isn’t necessarily in any rush to earn a title shot:

“I don’t chase titles. I genuinely feel the title will come to me when it comes to me. If I keep doing what I’m doing, it will come to me. Put as many people as you want before me. Let them have fun. When I’m ready to step in there, it will come to me.”

Have you been impressed by “MVP” thus far?
