Report States That Nate Diaz & Jorge Masvidal’s Boxing Match Massively Underperformed On PPV

On a relatively quiet week for combat sports, former UFC stars Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal met inside a boxing ring.

Many felt that their rematch earlier this month ended up being a better fight than expected, and the live attendance at the Honda Center appeared to be a good turnout.

But a recent report suggests that despite the event being heavily spoken about, fans were not willing to pay the pay-per-view price to watch it live.

Dave Meltzer stated on a recent episode of Observer Radio that the event did not perform well, comparing it to wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action (TNA), which has always had a tough time competing against the WWE before the two companies started working together as of late.

“It did horrible on PPV, it did TNA numbers. I’m not exaggerating. I knew it would not do well, but I was absolutely stunned how poorly it did. Nobody bought the fight. People are sick of seeing MMA fighters do boxing.”

Jake Paul & Mike Perry Come Face To Face Ahead Of July 20

Jake Paul returns to the ring this Saturday as he faces one of his toughest tests to date in BKFC star Mike Perry.

Before they can meet on July 20 in a change of opponent for Paul, who was scheduled to be taking on Mike Tyson on this date, the two men came face to face.

As you can expect from two bold characters, there were some certainly unique moments during their conversation. That included, at one point, both men seemingly doing “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan impressions.

The highlight of the entire video was certainly the following quote from Perry, who has always had an unparalleled way with words…

“Your little baby green punches can’t even f****** reach my brain stem bro. I’m gonna dig through your eyeball and find your memories.”

Paul responded in the same way that pretty much everybody else would when being told that by the “King of Violence.”

“Please don’t do that. Please don’t do that Mikey.”

Kevin Jousset Books Home Fight In Paris Against Former TUF Winner

Rising UFC welterweight and City Kickboxing fighter Kevin Jousset has got his next assignment, and it’s sure to be a bucket list one for him.

The French fighter will finally be getting the opportunity to compete in front of his home fans when he makes the walk on September 28 in Paris.

MMA Junkie’s Nolan King reported that Jousset is set to make his third Octagon appearance against The Ultimate Fighter season 29 winner Bryan Battle.

Having competed in Australia and Las Vegas since signing to the promotion, it’s time for “Air” to get the home fighter treatment following his impressive winning streak.

Mike Perry threatens to ‘dig through’ Jake Paul’s eyeball and ‘find his memories’ in boxing grudge match

Mike Perry has some pretty gnarly plans for when he steps inside the squared circle this Saturday night.

After spending the last couple of years smashing through a slew of former MMA champions under the BKFC banner, ‘Platinum’ will strap on the 10-ounce gloves for a clash with Jake Paul. Emanating from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, Perry will compete in his first traditional boxing match in nearly a decade after making a name for himself in the UFC and as a bare-knuckle brawler.

Ahead of their highly anticipated clash, Perry and Paul sat down for a face-to-face interview. During the 25-minute encounter, the two traded barbs back and forth with ‘Platinum’ threatening to “dig through” one of Paul’s eyes to “find his memories” come fight night.

“Your little baby green punches can’t even f*cking reach my brain stem, bro,” Perry said. “I’m gonna dig through your eyeball and find your memories.”

Unsure how to respond, Paul simply said: “Please don’t do that.”

Jake Paul knows the risks of fighting mike perry

Originally, Paul was expected to face ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson on July 20. Unfortunately, their bout was pushed back to November after the former unified heavyweight world champion suffered a medical emergency while on a cross-country flight in May.

Luckily, the incident was chalked up to an ulcer flare-up and not something more serious. Still, Tyson was advised to discontinue training for a few weeks, prompting the postponement.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

Instead of taking the extra time to prepare for one of the most dangerous boxers in the history of the sport, Paul opted to jump right back into the fire and accept a fight with Perry — a decision that could potentially cost him millions.

“A lot of people think I’m crazy for pivoting to this; why Mike Perry, why now, why take the risk, you could lose the biggest payday of your life against Mike Tyson if you lose to Mike Perry who is a violent killer, a bare-knuckle, undefeated legend over there,” Paul told DAZN. “He takes punches like they’re nothing, he’s fast, athletic, he hits hard, he’s a brawler, and I can’t take that lightly. This whole thing is a risk, I’m focused on July 20, I’m focused on Mike Perry and being in that mindset will lead me to victory.

“I need the experience, I need to stay active. I fear no man, I’m ready anytime, any place, anyone, and I truly back that up with my action, it’s not just something I say; I’m here to become world champion, I’ve done everything else I wanted to do in boxing, I’ve exceeded my expectations so that’s my last goal. I will be the cruiserweight world champion.”

Darren Till refuses to fight Mike Perry in BKFC I don't wanna bust you my face

Former UFC fighter Darren Till isn’t interested in fighting Mike Perry bare-knuckle but would box him.

Till and Perry have taken shots at one another for years now and many fans have wanted to see them fight, but nothing has come to fruition. However, Till is hopeful the two fight but says it won’t be in bare-knuckle.

“I don’t care, I will fight him,” Darren Till explained on The MMA Hour. “I’m not saying no because I’m scared, I’m saying no because I don’t need to fight bare-knuckle right now. I’m not busting my face up at 31, f— that. What birds are going to look at me?”

Till is coming off his boxing debut where he fought Mohammad Mutie at Social Knockout 3. After touching Mutie in the back of the head, his opponent rolled on the floor and couldn’t continue and the ref gave the win to Till. After the fight, Mutie tried to brawl Till, which he didn’t seem to care about.

“Mate, you’re an MMA fighter and you’re a fighter. This shit happens,” Darren Till said. “You’re rolling around on the floor for 20 minutes? Like, paramedics in there? And I’m just looking in disbelief, I’m like, ‘Is this really happening in my return?’ I just couldn’t believe it. I just think he just wanted a way out. He just felt my power in there, he knew I was finding my range, I was probably going to knock him out in that round. That’s what I was thinking in my head. And then, yeah, get the win off that, and then hell ensued.”

Darren till eyes big fights in boxing

After Darren Till won his boxing debut, he says the goal is to get a big fight next time out.

Till called out Jake Paul, Mike Perry, Jorge Masvidal, or Nate Diaz and believes he can get one of them next time out.

“There was a definitive winner, mate. The guy was rolling around for 20 minutes on the floor,” Till said when asked about a rematch. “He’s had his five minutes of fame. That was just a get-me-out-quick thing. He was never, ever going to win the fight. He was never going to do anything. He knows that as well. Even before the fight, he knew that.”

Till is currently 1-0 as a boxer and does not have his next fight booked.

Mike Perry Wary Of Fan Backlash If He Angles For Mike Tyson Match: ‘The One Fight I Don’t Want To Have, Mike Perry vs. The Internet’

Mike Perry recently voiced his apprehension about inciting fan outrage if he were to pursue a future boxing match against the legendary, yet much older, Mike Tyson.

Perry is currently slated to fight Jake Paul on July 20 in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

This matchup was announced after Paul’s planned fight against “Iron Mike” on the same date was pushed to November 15 due to the former undisputed heavyweight champion’s health scare.

Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up during a flight in May, leaving him nauseous and in need of medical attention. Although his team initially claimed he had fully recovered, subsequent medical examinations revealed that the 58-year-old boxing legend was not fit to compete in July.

The upcoming bout against Paul presents a tremendous opportunity for “Platinum” to elevate his profile on a grander stage. Already thriving as a bare-knuckle fighter, Perry is the biggest star in BKFC, boasting impressive victories over notable opponents like Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.

Despite securing the fight due to unexpected circumstances, Perry is eager to compete against Tyson if he secures a win against the YouTuber-turned-boxer on July 20.

However, the former UFC welterweight fighter is cautious of potential public outcry, as many might disapprove of the matchup due to the significant age difference…

Perry Eyes Tyson Fight But Hesitant About Public Reaction

During a recent ESPN MMA interview, Perry was asked if he would consider fighting Tyson next, should he defeat “The Problem Child” and take his spotlight on November 15. “Platinum” eagerly affirmed his desire to face the boxing icon.

“Yes, absolutely. Of course, man, I’m thinking about that. I would definitely do it.”

However, the 32-year-old Michigan native acknowledged that facing Tyson would be the biggest matchup of his career, and he doesn’t want to provoke public backlash unnecessarily. For now, he is concentrating solely on his fight with Paul.

“The comments can be negative already, anyway, so now they’re going to say, ‘Oh, now you’re gonna fight the old guy.’ The internet is undefeated. That’s the one fight I don’t want to have is Mike Perry vs. the internet because I could be the guy to beat the internet, bro. Fighting Mike Tyson would be obviously be cool but I’m just focused on July 20, man. I gotta have tunnel vision, this is my opportunity to show the world.”

When Paul vs. Tyson was first announced, the MMA community raised alarm bells over the staggering 31-year age gap between the fighters, a difference that would set a new record in professional boxing history.

“Iron Mike” hasn’t fought professionally since retiring during his bout against Kevin McBride in June 2005. However, Tyson made a comeback in November 2020, stepping into the squared circle for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.
