Tyson Ortiz

Former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is open to all comers — including ex-UFC light heavyweight king Tito Ortiz.

With recent footage of Tyson looking in amazing shape at the age of 53, a number of combat sports athletes — past and present — have been linked with facing him in a charity fight as the former looks to return to action. One of them is notably Evander Holyfield while the likes of John Fury have also challenged Tyson.

The latest is Ortiz who recently called “Iron Mike” out for a legend vs. legend fight on pay-per-view.

“.@MikeTyson – Legend Vs Legend on PPV! When are we doing it?”

Of course, Ortiz didn’t specify whether it was a mixed martial arts fight or a boxing match, which notably drew ridicule from bitter rival Chael Sonnen.

Tyson Open For Anyone

But assuming it’s the latter, Tyson has no problem with facing Ortiz — after all, he’s willing to face anyone at this point.

“I don’t really know but listen — anyone that’s willing to contribute to this charity, they’re welcome to come in and challenge me,” Tyson told TMZ. “I would be open for anyone.”

Ortiz is currently on a three-fight winning streak after wins over Sonnen, Chuck Liddell and Alberto El Patron.

Chael Sonnen

Former UFC title challenger turned MMA analyst Chael Sonnen has ripped into one-time opponent Tito Ortiz for calling out legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson.

‘Iron Mike’ is due to return to fighting at 53 years old for some exhibition bouts. Ortiz seems to think he’d make a good opponent and took to social media to suggest the pair should face off in a pay-per-view event – check out what he posted below…

Speaking on his YouTube channel Sonnen let went after his bitter rival in a lengthy tirade that just seemed never ending, he said.

“Oh the gift of Tito Ortiz just keeps on giving. So, there is something that the kids call Instagram. Now Instagram is largely a photo-based social media outlet. You can include text, but if you don’t include a photo or a video you are basically misusing Instagram and you should just take that over to Twitter. Ok fine.” Chael Sonnen explained. “Now Tito puts out a picture, and it is a side by side with Mike Tyson and Tito on the other side. Tito is shirtless, flexing his abs, captions: ‘Legend vs Legend let’s do this on pay-per-view’ exclamation point. Ok let’s start at the beginning. Anybody of any age, but particularly a grown ass 44-year-old man that goes on to Instagram shirtless while flexing his abs is a little bit of a dork. For one. Start with that.”

“Now let’s move on to the text. ‘Legend vs Legend’. Ok so I am looking at ‘Iron Mike’ and saying ok that is one legend but the versus part I am a little bit confused by because the only other guy in the photo is Tito. So it’s like Tito, who are you bringing? Are you bringing Tank Abbott along? Are you bringing Randy Couture? Are you bringing King Arthur? Are you bringing Batman? Like who is coming that is the other legend here? Oh and by the way Tito, your final text said ‘Let’s do it on pay-per-view’ exclamation point. Do I need to be the one to inform you that pay-per-view no longer exists? Pay-per-view nowhere in the world is a thing anymore. It is all done through digital platforms. Even if the have a paywall that they call a pay-per-view, it is not the same thing that you referred too, which is the pay-per-views you used to be on back in 2006. The world has just gone to a different place.” (Transcribed by BJPenn.com)

Conor McGregor

Conor Mcgregor tweeted out to Iron Mike Tyson last night after Tyson had some strong words to say about the former two-weight division champion. The former heavyweight king praised the Irishman for his performance against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August 2017, claiming McGregor’s ability to not only last ten rounds with the best boxer in the world but also to make the fight competitive, proved the fact that he indeed did belong in the same ring with him.

Mcgregor responded on Twitter to the Tyson interview clip, “Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd. I promise my life on it. It is great to see you back Iron Mike”

It remains to be seen whether or not we will see Mcgregor and Mayweather will duke it out inside the squared circle again, but it certainly seems like the Irishman is planting the seeds for a future massive pay day. Mike Tyson recently talked about a return to the ring for a charity exhibition matchup, while also posting a clip on his Instagram of him hitting the pads.

The Irishman meanwhile was last seen defeating Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January and has been rumored for a return on Fight Island in July, but nothing has come to fruition quite yet. It’s certainly an interesting scenario for Conor, he has a lot of options on the table. Perhaps, we’ll see ‘Notorious’ in a boxing ring once again sooner rather than later after these latest comments.

So what do you think? Is Conor Mcgregor serious about promising his life that he will defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr in a rematch?
