Colby Covington's Islamophobic Remarks Against Belal Muhammad Spark Outrage Regarding Exploding Pager

Colby Covington is a polarizing figure in the UFC welterweight division, has once again stirred controversy with offensive comments aimed at Belal Muhammad, the current division champion who is Palestinian-American. Covington, known for his brash persona and trash talk, accused Muhammad of wearing a “pager on his foot” that allegedly exploded, causing him to withdraw from a fight.

Colby Covington on Belal Muhammad

In a recent statement, Covington commented on Muhammad’s withdrawal from his fight, claiming, “I called the UFC when Belal had a pager on his foot, and he backed out ’cause I guess the pager exploded on his ankle and messed up his toe, which is just weird. You guys need to ask Belal why he is wearing a pager around his ankle. That’s just weird.” These words, though masked as trash talk, have drawn widespread criticism for their Islamophobic implications.

Covington’s remarks cannot be separated from the broader geopolitical context. On September 17, 2024, an incident occurred when pagers distributed to Hezbollah operatives exploded simultaneously across Lebanon and Syria. The explosion, which resulted in numerous casualties, was allegedly the work of Israeli intelligence. While Covington’s comments seem to reference this event, they do so in a manner that links Muhammad to terrorism, using a stereotype that Muslim individuals are linked to violence and extremism.

Covington’s behavior is not new. Throughout his career, he has made headlines for pushing the boundaries of trash talk, often crossing the line into offensive and hate-filled rhetoric, often against black athletes. However, this latest incident takes his words into dangerous territory, invoking Islamophobic stereotypes to make a cheap point.

It’s crazy how Colby Covington can go to a UFC press conference & openly call Belal Muhammad a terrorist just because he’s Muslim & not a single media outlet writes an article about it

“Colby Covington’s remarks against Belal Muhammad reflect a broader pattern of prejudice. In an era where athletes are increasingly using their platforms for social good, Covington’s words stand in stark contrast and perpetuate hatred. Colby Covington lobbies disgusting Islamaphobic attack against Belal Muhammad claiming “he pulled out because a pager exploded on his ankle” Colby is such a disgrace but this really highlights his desperation to stay relevant.”

Dricus Du Plessis Reveals What Sets Him Apart: ‘I Don’t Mind Getting Punched in the Face’

Dricus Du Plessis, the UFC Middleweight Champion, has made it clear that his approach to fighting sets him apart from others in the division. In a recent interview, Du Plessis shared the unique mindset that has propelled him to the top of the middleweight world, and it’s something that could give him the edge in his upcoming title rematch against Sean Strickland.

Dricus Du Plessis

“I don’t mind getting punched in the face,” Du Plessis said. “That was, that was the biggest difference, you know? That was it. I’ll take one to give one, because I know mine’s harder. And I think that was the biggest difference. As I went and I fought Strickland on his strength, I made him go backwards.”

Look at Paulo Costa and Izzy. They were running, they were running, trying to set something up. Strickland is too good. If you’re gonna try and do that, he’s too good. Now, if you give him that momentum, he’s gonna keep on coming and coming. He’s a bully fighter. He likes to bully people, and if you don’t put him in his place quickly, now you are gonna be bullied.”

Sean Strickland

Dricus Du Plessis made a huge statement by defeating Strickland by Split Decision to capture the middleweight belt in January 2024. Since then, he successfully defended his title against the legendary Israel Adesanya in August 2024, submitting him in the fourth round.

Du Plessis’ career has been characterized by his willingness to take risks in the cage, his mindset is also rooted in his belief that he can outlast his opponents. It’s this mentality that allowed him to stand his ground against Strickland, who is known for his pressure and ability to push opponents.

“I made him go backwards,” Dricus Du Plessis continued. “Strickland’s strength lies in his ability to press forward and bully his opponents, but I took that away from him. You can’t let him get that momentum. If you give him an inch, he’ll take a mile.”

Khamzat Chimaev

Looking ahead to a potential rematch with Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis’ approach is clear: he won’t let the former champion dictate the pace of the fight. Instead, Du Plessis plans to once again impose his will and make Strickland fight on his back foot. Also, Du Plessis has voiced a keen interest in facing another threat: Khamzat Chimaev.

“I would have rather faced Khamzat,” Du Plessis said, hinting that he feels Chimaev would offer the kind of challenge he thrives on. Chimaev, who is undefeated in the UFC and has shown his dominance in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions, is a fighter that many see as a future champion. Du Plessis, however, remains confident in his ability to handle any challenge.

UFC Ditches Manscaped for Jeremy’s Razors in ‘Woke-Free’ Sponsorship Shift Jeremy's Razors

The UFC and Manscaped will part ways at the end of this year after a five-year sponsorship agreement. In its place, Jeremy’s Razors, a brand founded by conservative media outlet The Daily Wire co-founder, will take over as the UFC’s official razor partner starting at UFC 311 in January 2025 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

UFC and Manscaped

The move marks a significant shift in the UFC’s sponsorships, with Jeremy’s Razors positioning itself as a “woke-free” alternative to mainstream grooming brands. Founded in 2022 by Jeremy Boreing, co-CEO of The Daily Wire, Jeremy’s Razors has gained attention for its outspoken opposition to what it perceives as “woke” corporate culture. The brand was initially launched in response to Harry’s Razors pulling its ads from The Daily Wire over political differences. Since then, it has become a symbol for consumers seeking alternatives to companies that, according to Boreing, prioritize social causes over traditional values.

“We couldn’t be more excited to expand our partnership with Jeremy’s Razors,” said Alex Kaptsan, Vice President of Global Partnerships at TKO, the UFC’s parent company. “Jeremy’s Razors has been a fantastic partner over the past two seasons of The Ultimate Fighter, and we’re thrilled to have them as a full-fledged official partner of UFC in 2025. Their brand stands out as one that challenges the status quo, and we look forward to introducing them to millions of UFC fans.”

Jeremy’s Razors “Woke-Free”

Jeremy Boreing expressed his pride in the new partnership, pointing out the alignment between his brand’s values and the UFC’s audience. “At Jeremy’s Razors, we believe you shouldn’t have to take a punch without throwing one back. Americans are tired of giving their money to woke corporations that hate them. They’re looking for alternatives—organizations that celebrate strength and masculinity without apology, like Jeremy’s Razors.”

Jeremys Razors

The partnership also has deep personal roots. Dana White, UFC President, was one of the first customers of Jeremy’s Razors when it launched, even flying to Nashville to show his support for the new brand. “We were honored to have Dana as one of our first customers, and we couldn’t be more proud to stand beside him now as the Official Razor Partner of the UFC,” said Boreing.

Jeremy Boreing

Jeremy’s Razors and The Daily Wire have been vocal in their conservative stance, openly criticizing companies they view as prioritizing progressive agendas. This move into the UFC sponsorship realm is part of a broader strategy to challenge what they see as the dominance of “woke” corporations. The UFC, with its massive global audience and strong, often conservative fan base, appears to be a fitting platform for the brand’s message.

As UFC fans prepare for UFC 311 in January, the shift in razor sponsorship signals a growing trend of political and cultural alignment in sports sponsorships. With Manscaped stepping aside, Jeremy’s Razors is ready to take center stage.

Jamahal Hill Speaks Out About Domestic Violence Arrest

Jamahal Hill, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, is facing a legal battle after his arrest in November 2023 on charges of domestic violence. The incident reportedly stemmed from an altercation with Hill’s brother over a personal dispute, but Hill is now sharing his side of the story.

Jamahal Hill Speaks Out About Domestic Violence Arrest

Jamahal Hill, who made history in January 2023 by claiming the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title before being forced to vacate it later that year due to injury, details the events that led to the police involvement. According to Hill, tensions escalated after his brother swung at him during an argument in his home.

“I was getting ready to meet up with friends, had some plans for the night,” Hill recalls. “Next thing I know, my entire block is lit up with 10 or 12 police cars, and they’re telling me I was under arrest for domestic violence.”

The altercation began when Hill’s brother, whom Hill claims he was trying to help, became increasingly aggressive. “He took a swing at me. I rolled, slipped, and grabbed him in a clinch. He stumbled back into the kitchen, and I was furious,” Hill said. “I told him, ‘Get the hell out of my house.’”

Hill explains that the situation escalated further when his brother’s girlfriend intervened, inadvertently leading to more conflict. “She pushed me, and that’s when my brother swung again—but this time, he hit my kid’s mom in the head,” Hill said. “I reacted and jabbed him in the face.”

What followed, according to Hill, was a heated exchange with his brother, who allegedly threatened him with a gun. “He started saying, ‘If my niece and nephews weren’t here, I’d kill you,’” Hill recalls. “That’s when I told him to leave, and he went to sit in his truck for two and a half hours.”

Hill states that after some time had passed, he approached his brother in an effort to mend the situation. “I apologized to him. I didn’t want any of this to happen,” Hill said. “I offered him an apology, even though he was the one who punched my kid’s mom in the head and didn’t apologize to her.”

However, Jamahal Hill’s attempts to resolve the situation took a turn when his brother reportedly began sending text messages demanding money and threatening to go public with the incident. “He was sending me pictures and saying things like, ‘You get fair fights for a living, and now you’ve sucker-punched me,’” Hill said. “This wasn’t about justice. This was about money.”

The controversy has left Jamahal Hill feeling betrayed, particularly after trying to help his brother through personal struggles. “I tried to help him out, but he had resentment toward me,” Hill said. “I didn’t know my success in the UFC would make him feel this way.”

As the legal proceedings continue, Jamahal Hill is hopeful that the truth will come to light. “I would never want to hurt anyone in my family, especially my brother,” Hill said. “This was about helping him, and it just blew up in my face.”

For now, Hill is focused on clearing his name, but he remains disheartened by the fallout. “It sucks that it came to this, but I’m ready for everything to come out in court,” Hill concluded. “I just want to move forward.”
