Dana White has blocked Georges St-Pierre from crossing over into the boxing world to take on fight legend, Oscar De La Hoya, according to Triller founder Ryan Kavanaugh.

“#danawhite and#ufc just blocked @georgesstpierre from fighting @oscardelahoya . It is a big payday for GSP and both he and Oscar’s dream to fight each other. Dana would rather hold back those who put the UFC where it is and why? @snoopdogg @jakepaul @mariolopez @teofimolopez @keviniole I’ve tried to call and Text Dana at least 5 times to make it work for both parties not even the courtesy of a return call. And he’s trying to get #jakepaul to fight for the ufc now? Making him offers? Just hurting his own people and chasing ours. @manoukakopyan”

St-Pierre hasn’t fought since winning the UFC middleweight title in 2017. The welterweight legend stepped up in weight to dethrone Michael Bisping at UFC 217.

The 39-year-old had been flirting with returning to the Octagon to square off against Khabib Nurmagomedov, but that fight appears dead in the water as ‘The Eagle’ confirmed his retirement from the sport earlier this year.

De La Hoya has talked about a return to the ring for the past several months and July 3 was announced as the date for his comeback. ‘The Golden Boy’ previously stated that people would be shocked by the level of his next opponent.

“We’re very close to locking somebody in but let me say, the world will be shocked,” De La Hoya said. “People are going to say, ‘Oscar is going to get smashed.’”

Former UFC and Bellator champion, Eddie Alvarez, was once linked to a fight with De La Hoya but talks for that crossover bout quickly subsided.

At the UFC 262 post-fight press conference White addressed the post from Kavanaugh.

“Don’t even ask me about these idiots,” White said. “Who gives a sh*t? Does anybody give a sh*t? You do? I don’t give a sh*t what they think. You think I care what Triller thinks? I don’t even take their calls. This idiot calls me every day. He calls me every day: ‘Please answer my call. Please talk to me. Why won’t you talk to me?’ Because I don’t give a f*ck about you. Do your thing. Leave me alone. Go f*cking do whatever it is you’re doing. Knock yourself out.

“I (couldn’t) care less. I have no interest in talking to any of those idiots. They can do their thing. Do your thing. Stop talking about me. What do you give a sh*t what I’m doing? Go do your thing.

“What are you doing?” White added. “I don’t even know what you’re doing. What is this thing you’re trying to build? What are you doing? What do I have to do with it? What do I have to do with it or my guys? Do your thing. What are you doing? Are you starting an MMA organization? … F*cking go away. Go do whatever you’re doing. Stop texting me. Stop calling me. Stop f*cking asking the media to ask me things, OK? Beat it. Get lost.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Eddie Alvarez has revealed he is in “serious” talks for a fight with Oscar De La Hoya.

The legendary boxer announced his return to the ring earlier this month.

De La Hoya is set to headline a Triller pay-per-view event scheduled for July 3.

An opponent is yet to be named but according to Alvarez he is on the cusp of being booked to face ‘Golden Boy’

“Recently we’ve been hearing from Oscar De La Hoya’s guys,” Alvarez told ESPN. “I’m fixated on the ONE championship belt. I mean, I’m laser, laser-focused on making history and getting my world title. But I feel like, there’s going to be a lull. The champion is going to sit for a little bit. I think he’s having a baby. If that happens, Oscar De Lay Hoya and them guys have been reaching out. Hell, I’d love to get in there and mix it up with him. That’d be a hell of a fight. I’ve got everybody here in Philadelphia backing me and the whole of Philadelphia boxing to back me up. To get in there and mix it up with that guy would be a dream come true. I actually think I’d do pretty damn good against him. I’d be crazy excited if them guys figure that out.

The former UFC and Bellator champion later confirmed fight talks are serious and a deal for the boxing bout could be reached this week.

“Oh, yeah. They’re serious,” Alvarez said. “Like, wanting to get a deal done this week serious.”

Tyron Woodley is being considered as a potential opponent for Oscar De La Hoya.

De La Hoya recently announced the news last week that he would be returning to boxing action for the first time since 2008. And as per Chael Sonnen, Woodley could be his return opponent.

He did add, however, that it was purely speculative based on a source he had.

“I’m not convinced that we have seen the last of Tyron Woodley, and I had a text message, now this is silly, this is speculative, but I’m in the moment,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel (via Middle Easy). “I had a text message from not the world’s worst source, telling me that Tyron Woodley is going to be considered for the first boxing opponent against Oscar De La Hoya.

“I don’t know how big I am on this idea, or if I’m going to regret that I even brought this and mentioned it to you guys. I’m just sharing with you that I am not convinced Tyron Woodley is done competing.”

One might think that would be beneath Woodley but given the events of this past weekend, who knows?

Woodley suffered a first-round submission defeat to Vicente Luque in the co-main event of UFC 260. It put him on a four-fight losing streak with UFC president Dana White hinting that he might not have a future with the promotion any longer.

One would imagine a fight with De La Hoya would be lucrative at the very least. Then again, there’s always Bellator.

The war of words continues. UFC president, Dana White has given his opinion on the reported planned return to professional boxing, for the decorated, Oscar De La Hoya.

De La Hoya, 47 – has yet to enter the boxing ring since his December 2008 defeat to fellow sport icon, Manny Pacquiao. The Californian has since become a notable boxing promoter, heading up Golden Boy Promotions which represents current three-weight world champion, Canelo Álvarez, among a slew of other world titleholders.

De La Hoya and White have both shared a chequered history, with White criticising De La Hoya’s decision to promote a trilogy meeting between former UFC light heavyweight champions, Chuck ‘The Iceman’ Liddell, and Tito ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ Ortiz back in November 2018.

White infamously called, De La Hoya a, f*cking cokehead junkie prior to the trilogy meeting, after the latter questioned whether or not White should’ve convinced Liddell to retire back in June 2010 after a knockout loss to Rich Franklin.

Following UFC Fight Night Vegas 7 last night, White was asked by The Mac Life reporter, Oscar Willis at a press conference – for his thoughts on De La Hoya’s supposed second foray into professional boxing, quibbling a memorable one-liner.

Cocaine isn’t cheap,” White laughed. “It’s expensive. You’ve got to make money.

Former WBC light middleweight champion, De La Hoya admitted to using cocaine in 2018 and received treatment at a rehabilitation facility in his native California for alcoholism.

With a 39-6 professional record, De La Hoya has managed notable victories over Jeff Mayweather, Julio César Chávez (x2), the late Pernell Whittaker, Arturo Gatti, Javier Castillejo, and Ricardo Mayorga to name a few. Before his aforementioned defeat to Pacquaio, De La Hoya dropped losses to fellow former world champions, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley (x2), and Félix Trinidad.

As of writing, a potential opponent for De La Hoya’s planned return to the squared circle has yet to be determined.
