Beloved MMA star Frankie Edgar couldn’t stay out of competition for very long after announcing his retirement from inside the octagon last month.

‘The Answer’ has been entertaining fans for almost twenty years now. His legendary battles and otherworldly toughness captivated millions, but alas, time conquers all. From being one of the toughest UFC fighters to, in the end, one of the unluckiest perhaps: Edgar sadly would end his legendary career on a devastating losing streak.

It all started with a brutal flying knee knockout at the hands of Cory Sandhagen. Then, a front kick right on the money by Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera would almost flatten Edgar’s skull. Finally, at UFC 281, it would be another knee, this time by Chris Gutierrez, that would silence ‘The Answer’.

This would be heartbreaking for his fans and family, but luckily, this would inspire Frankie Edgar to hang up the gloves. In fact, it even looks like the legend may have a new hobby or career path.

The Frankie Edgar crossover to the wrestling world, could a new career be on the horizon?

In a recent Instagram post, ‘The Answer’ could be seen having what appeared to be the time of his life. He was stomping and slamming his opponents from inside the wrestling ring, and by all appearances, it even looked like a potential new career path.

The event he took part in was just for charity, but with the star power Frankie Edgar has, it would not be surprising at all to see him make a crossover to WWE or even AEW.

“I had an absolute blast last night in the squared circle for Toms River’s own Nova’s retirement match!” Edgar said on Instagram. “It was great mixing it up with the guys and putting on a show for a great charity the 200 club.”

Would you like to see Frankie Edgar make a foray into professional wrestling?

The idea of YouTube star Logan Paul fighting in the UFC has been circling MMA news for a few weeks.

Paul sold a reported 800,000 buys for his YouTube pay-per-view (PPV) bout against rapper KSI last month. The bout was a draw. It also got Paul some big-time coverage when UFC names like Sage ‘Northbutt’ started paying attention to him. Northcutt’s Team Alpha Male trainer Urijah Faber also weighed in on the situation.

Paul’s situation and possible UFC debut were compared to that of former WWE wrestler CM Punk. We know how that experiment ended up.

One man with much more say in the matter also weighed in, however. UFC President Dana White recently said his piece regarding Paul fighting in the UFC. In his eyes, credit goes to Paul for getting the PPV sales he did. Fighting in the UFC is another matter altogether:

“That guy would get murdered here,” White said. “He would get hurt badly. If I ever let him fight in the UFC, I should be arrested.

“No hate for the kid. He’s built a great business for himself, great for him, it’s awesome. But trust me, don’t play around here. You will get hurt.”

The YouTube star caught wind of White’s words soon thereafter. Paul reacted on social media by claiming White wasn’t really in it for the safety of the fighters when Punk’s name came up again:

White has drawn a vast amount of critics for his ruthless style that seemingly pays no mind to fighters’ well-being. The polarizing executive has been raked over the coals over and over again for supposedly always booking the fight that makes the most money rather than the most sense.

CM Punk Redone?

Paul was a high school wrestler and has some semblance of boxing experience. That’s hardly the resume of a UFC-level fighter, however. Maybe the UFC has learned their lesson after Punk put on two grossly uninspiring performances in the octagon.

White praised Punk’s dedication and guile to put his reputation on the line via MMAJunkie:

“Everybody always talks about CM Punk. CM Punk is one of the greatest guys you could ever meet,” White said. “He’s a super good guy, he’s very passionate about the sport, and he put his reputation and everything on the line to come fight here, and I respect him for it. Obviously it didn’t work out for him, but he’s got a lot of heart and a lot of balls to do that.”

That could seem somewhat contradictory based on what White said about Paul’s chances in the UFC. Perhaps he’s just done with these kinds of freak shows for now. For White to pass on an easy opportunity to make big money, he’d have to be.

Either way, it seems Paul won’t be making his octagon debut anytime soon.

Last night (Sun. September 16, 2018) Lesnar made his return to the professional wrestling juggernaut at its Hell In A Cell (HIAC) pay-per-view (PPV). He interrupted the main event for the Universal Championship between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

Lesnar tore down the steel door of the structure and hit both men with his signature F5 finisher. Hours before the show several professional wrestling sites had reported spotting Lesnar in the same city as the show. It was speculated he’d be getting involved in some way, shape, or form.

This is an interesting move by Lesnar, who was believed to be finished with WWE for the time being last month. He dropped the WWE’s World Title to Reigns at the SummerSlam PPV. This was because “The Beast” is believed to be gearing up for a big UFC return.

He will likely challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight championship in early 2019. According to a report from Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, this plan remains the same. The only reason Lesnar appeared at the HIAC PPV last night was that he is setting up another major WWE program for an upcoming show in Saudi Arabia.

WWE and Saudi Arabia have a lucrative deal in place that will provide the country with regular shows over the course of 10 years. Lesnar will be making a return to Saudi Arabia on November 2nd to perform on the card, after appearing on the WWE’s first show this past April.

He is believed to be making “well into the seven figures” for his matches in Saudi Arabia.

With the eye of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world on the chaos of UFC 223, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made her pro-wrestling debut at tonight’s (Sun. April 8, 2018) WrestleMania XXXIV from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Teaming up with fellow former Olympic medalist Kurt Angle, Rousey took on WWE executives Stephanie McMahon and her husband, Paul “Triple H” Levesque in a mixed tag-team match.

It was one of more awaited WWE debuts for some time, and Rousey delivered on the hype in a big way.

First, she got the crowd going wild with her walkout in honor of former WWE champion “Rowdy” Roddy Piper:

That lead to a so-called ‘surreal’ face-off between the four competitors in the center of the squared circle:

And after some initial offense from McMahon and Levesque, Rousey finally got her chance to rush in on the action, and he wasted no time doing so against McMahon:

“Rowdy” was then able to get McMahon in a compromising position for her trademark armbar:

Then, Rousey showed some scripted boxing skills, the exact area of her once-feared MMA game that unfortunately lead to her downfall, by nailing Triple H with a nonstop torrent of rapid punches:

She showed some newly-acquired pro-wrestling skills as well, flowing well and slamming McMahon like a natural:

Finally, Rousey got McMahon in a brutal armbar for the finish, leading to a monstrous debut victory alongside Angle and a round of celebration with the fans:

On a weekend devoid of top-level mixed martial arts (MMA) action, a regional fighter did his best to give fans something they rarely if ever seen at yesterday’s Full Contact Contender 19 in Bolton, England.

It transpired when Jonno Mears submitted Aaron Jones with a brutal – and rare – pro-wrestling style submission that emulated the infamous Boston Crab – or even the “Walls of Jericho” made famous by former WWE champion Chris Jericho.

Check it out right here:

It was such an unbelievable win that Jericho even responded to the move on social media (via MMA Fighting):
