A few weeks ago former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson took to Instagram to post the following video of ex-UFC welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz attempting to steal his date:

This seems to be a bit of revenge from Diaz, who told a story about Jackson once doing the same thing to him several years back when the Stockton native was a teenager:

It seems as though the beef between the two is legit, as Jackson recently did an interview with TMZ Sports in which he claimed he wanted to fight Diaz at heavyweight after he ‘disrespected’ him in front of his date (quotes via MMA Mania):

“Nick Diaz needs to step up to my weight class. That’s all I got to say. Back when MMA first started, there were no weight classes. Nick Diaz, he a warrior just like me. That’s all I got to say, he has to step up to my weight class. He disrespected me in Vegas. We both was drinking, which was good, you in Vegas, you having fun. Nick Diaz, you know you disrespected me and you was out of order motherfucker. He tried to punk me man, It ain’t cool. Come to my weight class.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is currently in an interesting situation regarding his MMA (mixed martial arts) career. He does know two things, which are that he is officially done with Bellator MMA and that he has lingering contractual obligations to the UFC.

His recent run with Bellator was a lone UFC fight against Fabio Maldonado back in April 2015. This was supposed to be part of a new deal to allow Jackson to return to the Octagon. Jackson declared himself a free agent after claiming that Bellator failed to honor certain clauses, but he eventually settled it and went back to Bellator. His UFC contract is picking back up again.

Jackson opened up on his status with the UFC during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.

“It’s very confusing,” Jackson said. “It’s no secret that I was in a lawsuit with Bellator after I went back with the UFC to fight Fabio [Maldonado], so I had to go back to Bellator and fulfill a contract and that contract ran out. I still have an existing contract with the UFC, but things change. The UFC, they sold the company since all that, so I don’t know.

“I haven’t talked to Dana personally about it. My manager Tiki Ghosn has been talking to him, but I think the UFC is doing great things for the company. They’re in a good place. I just don’t know what’s going to happen for me.”

“But now that Dana White is letting Conor McGregor box, I’ve always asked Dana to let me do some s**t like that,” Jackson continued. “Hopefully, Uncle Dana, if you got ties with boxing now, let me try some of that s**t.”

Jackson does have a fight that he wants in mind, which is a rematch with former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who beat Jackson by first-round TKO in a memorable battle for Japan’s PRIDE promotion.

“I would love to revenge my loss against ‘Shogun’ because that’s one loss that don’t sit well with me for personal reasons,” Jackson said. “I love ‘Shogun’ as a person, we get along great, but as a fighter, I never should have taken that fight with my injury. I regret not backing out of that fight, I do. I was dumb back then. I was making cash money, and I was just blowing through it, and I was living fight to fight. It was that street life. I fight injured a lot, and sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t, but that fight I should have said, ‘Naw, naw, let me heal up.’”

The former UFC light heavyweight champion will turn 40-years-old next June. Despite his advancing aging, Jackson believes that there are a few more battles to come for him.

“I think I got three good fights in me, then after that then I’ll see if I have three more good fights in me,” Jackson said. “I really would like to fight because, in MMA, I feel like fighters can get old overnight. I’m 39 years old, I put 17 good years into this sport, and my body has taken a toll. I think that I know how to train with injuries and stuff like that, and I’m training smarter. I still have enough juices and energy to entertain the fans, I love entertaining the fans.”

“My whole career I never dealt with the managerial s**t. I just like train and fight, f**k, play video games, play with my toys, play with my kids, that’s my life.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has opened up on his arch rival’s latest failed drug test. Jon Jones is facing a potential four-year ban from MMA after he failed a pre-fight drug test for his championship bout against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 in July.

He tested for the banned substance Turinabol. To say the least, it’s not a good look for the legacy of the former UFC light heavyweight champion, who previously served a lengthy suspension for failing a drug test prior to UFC 200.

Jackson recently spoke with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, and during the interview, “Rampage” stated that it’s a black eye for the sport due to people seeing MMA fighters as a bunch of “steroid freaks.”

“Jon Jones put that light on every MMA fighter, that we all do that shit. It’s bad for the sport, and it makes everybody else look bad because people think that we are steroid freaks,” said “Rampage” on a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. “I don’t know the shit that’s going on with Jones or if he passed or failed that shit, but it’s bad.”

“Listen, I’ve told you guys before, and I hate to say it because me and Jon Jones have hung out when we was doing Fit Expo for Monster. We bonded a little but and I don’t want to say anything bad about Jon Jones, but I have to keep it real,” added Jackson.

“I’ve said it before that Jon Jones was bad for the sport because how I thought he did dirty tactics and stuff like that. One thing about me is that I am totally against drugs. I am against fighters being able to use steroids. Fighters like that make a lot of other fighters look bad.”

Jackson claims that he has often been accused of using steroids throughout his MMA career to the point where UFC President Dana White once gave him a surprise drug test due to the fact that he thought that Jackson was fighting with the help of PEDs.

“I find myself defending myself on Instagram because people assume that I have taken steroids before, and I know there are ignorant people that don’t know what steroids people look like, but to me it’s a slap in the face because I have worked hard my whole life,” added Jackson.

“I was naturally muscular and strong. People assumed I was on steroids because all of these fighters got popped. I have never been popped for steroids. I was honest and telling everybody that the doctor ordered me to take testosterone after I lost to Jon Jones. I couldn’t believe I lost to him, I was overconfident, and I can’t believe I lost to him. I went to the doctor, and the doctor tested my testosterone levels, and he said there was no way I should be fighting with testosterone that low,” he said.

“Any fighter that has to take steroids, and our body produces testosterone naturally, but if you have to take steroids to be a fighter, to get in and fight another man, then you are really not a fighter, that’s how I feel. I have never failed a steroid piss test. Dana White thought I was on steroids when I fought Forrest Griffin. He came in and said, ‘Rampage, after you fight you get big you blow up, gain a lot of weight. That’s a trait of someone being on steroids.’ But people don’t know my body,” explained Quinton.

Jackson built his name in the sport while fighting in Japan for PRIDE Fighting Championship. It’s well known that there were fighters consuming steroids in that organization due to its lack of a strong athletic commission. Despite that, Jackson made it known that he never once dabbled with steroids during that era.

“Even in PRIDE when people took steroids, I never took it. I was young in PRIDE. I was 23, 24, and no one that age should even be thinking about steroids. I didn’t know Wanderlei was on steroids when I fought him. I didn’t know who was. So Dana surprised test me, and I passed the surprise test,” he concluded.

In recent years we’ve seen WWE superstars like Brock Lesnar and CM Punk cross over from professional wrestling to test themselves in a true fight in the UFC’s Octagon.

However, the door swings both ways, and since the UFC began there have been several examples of fighters being lured over to the world of pro-wrestling in search of fame, fortune and in some cases a chance to fulfill a childhood dream.

In this article we’ll chart the successes and failures of 10 UFC stars who have attempted to ‘get over’ with pro-wrestling fans and become the king (or queen) of the ring.

Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrock made his pro-wrestling debut as far back as 1990 on the regional circuit in North America and then headed overseas to Japan’s UWF and PWFG organizations.

After winning a legitimate fight in the latter organization in late 1992, Shamrock was inspired to fight in mixed martial arts and became a major star in Pancrase and then the UFC, but by the end of 1996 he had become burnt out and was struggling to make ends meet, and so he quit MMA and signed for the World Wrestling Federation.

Billed as ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’, Shamrock debuted for WWF in 1997 and proved himself to be a performer with crossover appeal who would become a star during his three-year stint there.

Along the way he’d compete against many of the company’s biggest names and won the Intercontinental title by defeating X-Pac, claimed the Tag Team Championship alongside ‘Big Boss Man’ and defeated ‘The Rock’ to become ‘King Of The Ring’ in 1998.

Constantly being on the road with the WWF took a toll on Shamrock however, and so for the sake of his family he abruptly left the organization in 2000 and returned to MMA, though the injuries he’d sustained while wrestling meant he was never able to reach the same heights as earlier in his career.
