Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has recently returned to Chechnya – where he met with and trained alongside the republic’s leader, Ramzan Kadyrov and his children.

Khamzat Chimaev, who boats an unbeaten 11-0 professional record, most recently featured on the main card of UFC 273 back in April at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida – defeating one-time title challenger, Gilbert Burns with a close, unanimous decision victory.

Chimaev, a native of Beno-Yurt in the region of Chechnya, plys his trade at AllStars MMA in Sweden, however, has spent considerable time pictured with the disgraced, dictator, Kadyrov, receiving numerous gifts from the latter as well as training in striking and grappling alongside the Head of the Chechen Republic.

Over the course of last weekend, footage emerged detailing Chimaev’s recent visit to Chechnya where he trained alongside, Kadyrov, who has been sanctioned by the United States government on numerous occasions for continued human rights violations.

“The grandchildren of the First President of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov – Adam and Eli Kadyrov met face to face with the thunderstorm of the Octagon (Khamzat Chimaev),” A caption read on video footage of Chimaev and Kadyrov training. “Despite the fact this is only a friendly sparring, the ‘Chechen Wolf’ exhausted his rivals in his usual manner, once again proving his skill and composure in the fighting arena.”

“Despite the formidable and eminent opponent, the guys were in no way inferior to Khamzat in skill. As befits and fighters, they analyzed the movements and weaknesses of the opponent, after which they proceeded to counterattack. At the end of the training, I myself could not resist the temptation to test my strength in a friendly duel with our dear brother.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

In the time since his April win against Burns, Chimaev, who sits at #3 in the official welterweight rankings, has been linked with returns against both former interim champion, Colby Covington, and Nate Diaz.

Khamzat Chimaev Ramzan Putin UFC 273

After a hard-fought victory at UFC 273 over Gilbert Burns, Khamzat Chimaev has seemingly paid tribute to one of Vladimir Putin’s close allies, the Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.

From the Chechen Republic of Russia, it’s not strange necessarily to see ‘Borz’ love his homeland and his country’s president. However, in the wake of what’s happening with the Russia and Ukraine war, it’s been a tad controversial, to say the least, that Chimaev has seemingly dedicated his victory at UFC 273 to president Kadyrov (who’s supporting Putin and his efforts in the war with Ukraine).

“Brother, I know you’re home watching me now,” Chimaev said, as transcribed by MiddleEasy, tagging Kadyrov via Instagram story. “I said I’d finish it quickly today. May Allah be pleased with you, brother, God bless you. I know you’re watching me. May Allah be pleased with all Chechens. God bless you!”

The Friendship of Khamzat Chimaev and Ramzan Kadyrov

‘Borz’ and Kadyrov are actually good friends of almost several years now apparently. The pair can be seen together on multiple Instagram posts, and reportedly have also even sparred before.

Considered a warlord and a known ally of Vladimir Putin, this is definitely an infamous and controversial pal for Khamzat Chimaev to have. However, to date, ‘Borz’ has never really openly discussed his political views and his outlook on the war. For all we know, he could be totally against what’s going on in the Ukraine, or totally in support of the war.

With this win over Burns on his resume, it’s looking like none other than Colby Covington is next for Khamzat Chimaev. That will surely be another thrilling battle that puts the young Chechen-born fighter through another test.

Burns, however, is looking for a rematch with ‘Borz’. Feeling that things could go a lot differently if given five rounds, ‘Durinho’ is hoping Chimaev will grant him a rematch sometime in his next three fights.

Kadyrov Spoke Of Senior Nurmagomedov’s ‘Universal Respect’

Footage has emerged of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov consoling Khabib Nurmagomedov following the death of his father.

Abdulmanap passed away at the age of 57 on Friday after a long battle with the COVID-19 virus. After initially showing promising signs after waking from a coma, the senior Nurmagomedov’s condition continued to deteriorate in recent months until his passing.

Many in the mixed martial arts world including Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson have since sent Nurmagomedov their well wishes and condolences.

Recent footage from @news095 showed a gathering taking place Friday night with head of the Chechen Republic Kadryov present as he goes on to console Nurmagomedov for his loss.

You can watch it below:

According to RT, Kadyrov emphasized the “universal respect” Abdulmanap had in Russia and abroad for his contributions to MMA.

Nurmagomedov is also understood to have thanked Kadyrov for helping transfer his father to be treated in a medical facility in Moscow.

“The plan of the Most High cannot be changed, for all his will. Praise be to Allah,” Nurmagomedov was quoted as saying.

“The Eagle” is yet to make a public statement following his father’s death and it remains to be seen if he will continue fighting. The lightweight king is expected to unify the titles against interim champion Justin Gaethje in September.

Fan favorite flyweight Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall has been granted his release from his UFC contract after a two-year absence from the game.

McCall last fought at UFC 183, when he dropped a decision loss to John Lineker. Several bouts since then have fallen through, either from McCall’s injuries and illnesses or his scheduled opponents’.

McCall revealed his situation on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour:

“I’m a free agent now. If I’m gonna fight, I want to fight for at least $100,000, 50 and 50 is fine.

“I’m gonna take this, go to a different market and see if it works.”

McCall is the last man to fight Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and not lose, taking the eventual champ to a draw back in 2012. Since then, “Uncle Creepy” has been beset by stomach and intestinal issues that have forced him out of several fights.

With his UFC contract stuck at $16,000 to show and $16,0000 to win, he said it just wasn’t worth his health for the money he was making.

Now a free agent, McCall says he’s looking for an increase in pay, and he’ll take it wherever he can get it, even if that means fighting for the much-maligned Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov’s promotion.

“People say, ‘You don’t care that it’s blood money?’ I don’t give a flying f— that it’s blood money. You can pay me in blood diamonds,” McCall told ESPN. “I get into a cage and fist fight for money. I don’t care. I don’t live there.

“Of course what he’s doing is wrong,” McCall said of Kadyrov. “I don’t agree with it and would say it to his face, but it’s none of my business. My business is to go over there and fist fight. That’s it. Sure, war is bad and guys like that do evil s—. But I don’t care.”

Following a visit with Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov and a stop in the Russian capitol, Floyd “Money” Mayweather has revealed the possible location of a proposed super fight with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

Mayweather suggested Moscow as the city to host the much-discussed bout between McGregor and the undefeated boxing legend.

“At the moment we have not signed any papers,” Mayweather said during a press event following a boxing Masterclass. “But I hope that the match will take place in June. I want to give people the spectacle: the MMA world vs. boxing world. This fight can be organized in Moscow. I would choose to Moscow, if I were asked today.”

While Mayweather suggested Moscow as a potential super fight with the brash Irishman, conflicting reports have put the location at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 10, a date and location which has been tentatively set for a boxing bout between the two.

Hosting the event in Moscow presents a number of logistical problems, as North American viewership would be profoundly affected due to the time difference.

Mayweather was in Russia and neighboring Chechnya after Chechen dictator and combat sports aficionado Kadyrov invited the boxing legend to visit, as well as to participate in the grand opening of a boxing gym in Moscow.

The undefeated boxer, who retired last year after racking up a perfect 49-0 record, was paid $86,500 for a day’s worth of work, including hosting a boxing class during the grand opening.
