Surviving some worrying shots from Ryan ‘Superman’ Spann – charismatic light heavyweight contender, Johnny Walker snapped his two-fight skid, via a series of elbows and hammerfists at the Octagon fence midway through the opening round.
With both engaging in a clinch battle in the opening moments in the round, Walker was dropped with a counter from Spann – before utilizing his defensive grappling to buck Spann off who had assumed full mount. The recent Straight Blast Gym Ireland mover then defended a takedown attempt from Spann, before unleashing a series of elbows and hammerfists to a slumped Spann – forcing referee, Dan Miragliotta to step in and call a halt to proceedings. Walker returns to winning ways after dissapointing defeats to Corey Anderson, and Nikita Krylov.

The next bout on the UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley main card is a light heavyweight matchup between Johnny Walker and Ryan Spann.
Round 1: Walker opens the fight with A low kick before taking a left hook from Spann who continues to shoot and secure a takedown. Walker is quick to get back to his feet with the two remaining clinched against the cage. Walker reverses the position. Spann reverses it once again. Walker finds some separation before being dropped with a big shot from Spann. once on the ground Walker reverses position ending up on top in a triangle before getting to his feet and being dropped again. In the scramble Spann shoots for a takedown, Walker drops a load of hammer fists down on Spann as he attempts to finish the takedown closing the show via TKO.

Johnny Walker is set to return to action.
As per ESPN, Walker is slated to face Ryan Spann in a light heavyweight bout taking place at the UFC 253 pay-per-view event. Both fighters have agreed to the bout and an official announcement should be expected soon.
After a meteoric rise in the UFC, Walker with three straight first-round knockouts, Walker finds himself on a two-fight losing skid. He was TKO’d by Corey Anderson at UFC 244 last November before getting outpointed by Nikita Krylov at UFC Brasilia in March.
He will be looking to return to the win column with a bang against Spann.
It won’t be an easy test, though. Like Walker, Spann is a 205 prospect who has won his last eight outings overall while being 4-0 in the UFC. His most recent win was a split verdict over Sam Alvey at UFC 249 in May.
UFC 253 has no confirmed location as of yet. However, it is expected that it will take place in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. A middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa is expected to headline the card.

Ryan Spann just pulled off a huge knockout to close out the UFC 237 preliminary card on ESPN.
Spann came into Brazil and took out local legend Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in heavyweight action. Spann put together a beautiful combination in the first round that rendered Nogueira unconscious. “Superman” now extends his undefeated streak to six with the win.
As for the Brazilian, he has dropped two of his last four. At 42-years-old, fans now begin to wonder how much longer “Minotouro” has left before he finally hangs up the gloves for good.
