After last weekend’s (Sat., August 5, 2017) night of fights from the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, the flyweight rankings have seen a bit of a shake-up.

In the main event of the night, Sergio Pettis took home a dominant unanimous decision win over Mexico’s Brandon Moreno. After his win, Pettis climbed up the 125-pound rankings two spots to tie Wilson Reis for the No. 4-ranked spot. In a thin flyweight division, Pettis could have just solidified his case for the next shot at Demetrious Johnson’s throne following his upcoming title defense against Ray Borg at UFC 215.

The viewership numbers for UFC Fight Night 114 have been released.

Due to the fact that the UFC put on a solid main card, viewership for UFC Fight Night 114 did increase from the last fight night event on FOX Sports 1, which was UFC Fight 112. UFC Fight Night from Mexico City averaged 859,000 viewers, and the show peaked with the co-main event bout between Alexa Grasso and Randa Markos at 988,000 viewers.

UFC FN 112 averaged 819,000 viewers and peaked at 905,000 viewers twice for BJ Penn vs. Dennis Siver and Michael Chiesa vs. Kevin Lee.

A flyweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno headlined the event. Rounding out the main card was Alan Jouban vs. Niko Price in a welterweight bout, Martin Bravo vs. Humberto Bandenay in a featherweight bout, Sam Alvey vs. Rashad Evans in a middleweight bout, and Alejandro Perez vs. Andre Soukhamthath in a bantamweight bout.

The prelims averaged 633,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1, which is down from the 319,000 viewers that UFC Fight Night 112 on FOX Sports 2. It should be noted that FS2 is not available as many homes as FS1.

The post-fight show pulled in 208,000 viewers, which is down from 268,000 viewers that UFC Fight Night 112 pulled in. This is a good sign as people were interested in sticking around for fight analysis or interviews. The pre-fight show pulled in 208,000 viewers.

Fight fans will have to wait to see more UFC action as the promotion returns on September 2nd with UFC Fight Night 115 at Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. A heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov is expected to headline the event.

Last night’s (Sat., August 5, 2017) UFC Fight Night 114 from Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico, featured an all-out plethora of first-round finishes; in fact, the action-packed card was host to a record-tying seven of them.

Perhaps none were more emphatic than Humberto Bandenay’s insane knee KO of the heavily favored Martin Bravo that took only 26 seconds. Bandenay came out looking to prove a point as the biggest underdog on the card, and he did just that, landing a hard body kick early that clearly made Bravo think about defending his midsection.

When he did, however, Bandenay had the wherewithal to move his strike upstairs, nailing Bravo with a vicious knee that stiffened him and legitimately put Bandenay on the short list of potential ‘Knockout of the Year’ contenders. Check out the jaw-dropping finish right here:

Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno were on the cusp of flyweight title contention when they met in the main event of last night’s (Sat., August 5, 2017) UFC Fight Night 114 from Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico.

In the end, the No. 6 Pettis kept his momentum alive with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over the unorthodox Moreno.

It wasn’t without some early adversity, however, as Moreno took Pettis’ back after taking him down off a kick in the first round, dominating the scorecard. But Pettis rallied back in the second round, landing some effective high kicks and finding his range in the boxing department, range he kept throughout the middle rounds where he was able to score with precise shots and hurt Moreno.

Moreno fought back with another takedown in the fifth, but Pettis’ effort throughout the middle of the fight was enough to earn him the victory on the scorecards. Watch the full fight video highlights of Pettis’ pivotal win right here:

UFC Fight Night 114 went down tonight (Saturday, August 5, 2017) from the Arena Cuidad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico. Exciting flyweight contenders headlined the FS1 Fight Night, as Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno went to battle opposite each other.

The fight went the full five rounds, unlike most of the card, which tied the record for the most first-round finishes in UFC history with a mind-blowing seven.

The younger Pettis had to survive a hairy first round that saw him taken down off a caught kick by “The Assassin Baby” and get his back taken. Moreno spent about half of round one latched to Pettis’ back with a body triangle, fishing for the rear-naked choke. But Pettis would fend him off and survive to see a second frame. From there, Pettis technical mastery and greater output won out. He was particularly dominant in round three, where he landed several clean head kicks and crackling counter right hands. Pettis was awarded with a unanimous decision for his impressive performance.

The co-main event saw an exciting scrap between action-minded strawweights Alexa Grasso and Randa Markos. Grasso used sharper striking and defense in rounds one and three, while Markos took the second with several takedowns from caught kicks. The first and third rounds were close, but the native Mexican took home the split decision victory for her work.

See how MMA Twitter reacted to these exciting battles:
