Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley has revealed that he wants to take on former UFC commentator and competitor Dan Hardy, but only in an MMA-styled matchup.

‘The Chosen One’ made an appearance on The MMA Hour on Wednesday and responded to comments regarding a potential matchup against Hardy. ‘The Outlaw’ had earlier stated in the year that he had signed a contract to box Tyron Woodley during 2022.

Tyron Woodley didn’t confirm whether this is true or not, but he did have some strong words for Hardy himself.

“I don’t even want to give Dan Hardy the clout”

“I want to say some bullsh*t about him, but I really don’t want to give him the clout. One, who gives a f*ck about a dyed-up mohawk right now. Stop dude, you f*cking 90. Get the dye off, you not ‘The Outlaw’ no more. You ain’t swung at a face in 10 years, so stop with The Outlaw sh*t.

“They were talking to me about him and there was some good money out there. There’s been a lot of good money out there for a lot of different fights, so I’m going to look at it, but I was thinking about the boxing thing with Dan. I think it would be letting him off the hook. If I fought him in MMA it would be a little elbow, a little knee, a little b*tch slap. I need some hands open so I can do some of that. I don’t know, potentially we’ll see.”

Tyron Woodley Feels People Hate On His Success

Woodley was on the receiving end of two losses in boxing last year at the hands of Jake Paul but despite this, he now feels other combat athletes are looking to him for the big fight paychecks.

“There was some talking to [Hardy’s team] because a lot of these dudes — and he’s not the only one, a lot of these dudes have piggybacked off of me — what I did in MMA put me in position where I can do certain things in film, music, and other fights in other organizations. I’m the only real free agent out here to be honest. Who else can do whatever the f*ck they want to do, when they want to do it, fight whoever they want to fight, no contract, nobody holding me down, and I’m making a lot of money?”

“So people are gonna hate me. They’re gonna hate on me. They’re gonna see my opportunities, but they haven’t gotten the wisdom yet. My goals and what God has for me and the windows He opened, you will never be able to access it and you can never close my window. So when people look at you and compare themselves, you’re not supposed to compare yourself to another. Don’t look at what I got, look at what you were supposed to get, look at your vision.

I think when guys take their eyes off of their vision and what the f*ck they’re supposed to do and start looking at another man; one, it’s suspect. Two, it’s kind of like you’re taking your mind off of your goal. Don’t look at what I did and want the payday I got. Ain’t none of y’all been no five-time world champions, none of them. So what are y’all talking about?” (transcribed by MMAfighting.com)

Mike Tyson has put to rest any claims that he and Jake Paul had agreed to a Boxing match.

It was reported earlier during the week that Tyson and Paul had verbally agreed to a deal worth up to $50 Million.

An associate of Tyson revealed the fight would headline a pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

“Mike and Jake are on board for an exhibition bout in Las Vegas. A verbal deal has been struck to get it on, but like all forms of sports business, now it’s all about the contracts and money split.” A source told The Sun.

“Mike is looking for a certain figure to get into the ring with a profit share guarantee. Jake obviously has that on his mind but is keen to show the world that stepping into the ring with a man once called the baddest man on the planet, takes his boxing career to the next level. This fight bridges the gap between old school boxing fans and the new generation of followers.”

However, it appears now that the two fighting was just speculation as Tyson himself took to social media to reveal he had heard nothing of the sort.

“This is new to me,” Tyson wrote on Twitter. “I saw Jake in St. Barths and he never mentioned it.”

Should Mike Tyson fight Jake Paul?

It’s no secret that Paul has had a meteoric rise in the sport of boxing, he is yet to take on any professional boxers and is still one of the biggest names in the sport currently. Fresh of his victory over Tyron Woodley in December it looks like Paul is ready to step back in, but is Mike Tyson the right man for him to face?

Tyson also returned to boxing in recent years when he took on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout in November 2020 but has not entered the ring since, a card of which Jake Paul also fought on when he knocked out Nate Robinson. Whether the fight comes true is one thing but there is no denying it would attract a fight like this would attract a lot of followers for boxing.

Jake Paul PFL

Jake Paul has expressed his interest in stepping into the world of MMA in the future following on from his successful start in boxing, and it appears the PFL is open to offering him a home within the sport.

Reports suggested that Paul had begun initial talks with the PFL about switching over to make his debut, these comments were later confirmed by PFL CEO Peter Murray who had admitted talks had taken place between the pair.

“Hey, listen, you know, if any major athlete that is considering and wants to get into MMA, of course, the PFL is in the conversation.”

“What the PFL is about is offering fighters opportunities and fans access to great events. Jake has certainly got a large global following. He’s got a strong point of view. He’s a real athlete, and he’s established himself in boxing. And, you know, if he’s looking at MMA as that next opportunity in parallel, perhaps with boxing, of course, we’re going to have a conversation.”

It appears Jake Paul is serious about this move also after ‘The Problem Child’ uploaded a video to his social media practicing throwing leg kicks, in what appears to be his attempt to learn the correct techniques before making the switch.

Will Jake Paul’s success transition to MMA?

Despite the controversy he may cause, Jake Paul had a successful year competing within boxing. He went 3-0 in 2021 which included victories over two former UFC competitors in Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Paul would viciously KO Askren in April before beating Woodley via decision the first time around and then going on to knockout the former UFC welterweight champion in their December rematch.

Paul’s antics away from the ring may not always be the best, however, Murray has made it clear of his intentions at the PFL and what they are aiming to do.

“It doesn’t mean the PFL supports his detailed manifesto, It’s not about that. What we’re about is providing opportunities for fighters and great events for fans. Simple.” (Transcribed by MMAJunkie.com)

Amanda Serrano

Amanda Serrano has joined Jake Paul in offering to make the move over to the UFC if Dana White can meet his demands.

‘The Problem Child’ and UFC president have been locked in a war of words on social media for quite some time, but this week saw the pair go back and forth over things from fighter pay to Paul fighting in the UFC.

White responded to Paul earlier this week.

Following on from Paul’s offer to Dana White it now appears multi-division boxing champion Amanda Serrano has offered a challenge to current Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

“I will gladly sign a one fight deal with the UFC to challenge Valentina for the Flyweight Championship if UFC agrees to Jake’s offer. Let’s make history.”

As much as she may want the challenge of facing Valentina Shevchenko it’s very unlikely, we will ever actually see Amanda Serrano in the UFC for this to happen, given Dana White’s lack of interest in working with Paul.

Amanda Serrano Praises Jake Paul

Serrano has praised Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions stating how much Paul has helped raise her profile in boxing and created more opportunities for her both in and out of boxing as well as having benefitted her in a financial way too.

Serrano was the co-main event on the original card vs Tyron Woodley earlier this year where she beat Yamileth Mecado via decision.

Paul also in his own interaction with Dana White offered a list of things he was aiming for including signing to fight Jorge Masvidal on a one-fight contract and registering with USADA to prove he is not taking any performance-enhancing drugs despite White claiming this about the undefeated boxer.

As much as she may want to realistically White will not be agreeing to the terms set out by Jake Paul, so the likely hood of Amanda Serrano returning to MMA in the UFC is unlikely. Serrano holds a 2-0-1 record whilst competing under the iKon Fighting Federation.

Jon Jones

Jon Jones may now finally be getting closer to making his heavyweight debut.

Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight championship in 2020, with the intention of jumping up weight class in 2021. However, for various reason’s Jones wouldn’t compete in 2021 and instead spent the time working in the gym, trying to put on the extra weight needed for his new division.

It now appears he may finally have one, rumours have been circulating that Jon Jones would take on the winner of Francis Ngannou Vs. Cyril Gane after the top two heavyweight’s clash later this month. No date has been confirmed for the matchup; however, it appears Jones has been putting in the hours preparing after posting a video on his Instagram updating his following.

“I spent the last few days locked inside my office studying myself and possible future opponents. I’m excited to figure out my next opponent so I can start focusing on my energy even more. This is my favorite kind of homework,” Jones said in a post on social media.

Jon Jones aims for octagon return in April

Jones hasn’t fought since his extremely close decision victory over Dominic Reyes back at UFC 247, but in an interview with KRQE ‘Bones’ did reveal a rough timeline of when he would like to return to the octagon.

“I’m looking to fight somewhere in April, possibly Madison Square Garden, or a total opposite date, possibly July at International Fight Week, those are the two dates that I’m kind of eying. I think it’ll depend on who wins in January between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane, and we’ll just take it from there.”

Jones will have to wait to see how UFC 270 unfolds before he can begin seriously preparing for his next opponent and to see who hell be facing for that heavyweight crown.
