Yesterday, we shared an editorial from last year that documented Jon Jones’ chaotic drug-testing history. Once the news broke of another atypical test finding for Jones, Daniel Cormier was expectedly one of the first to react. Stipe Miocic would then react to Cormier’s reaction, five months after DC defeated him for the UFC heavyweight championship.

Headline: Stipe Miocic Sends Message To DC After Jones’ Drug Test Incident

Author: Jon Fuentes

Current UFC “Champ Champ” Daniel Cormier’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career is coming to an end. Cormier has said that, following his heavyweight title defense over Derrick Lewis in November, he has one fight left in him. It’s believed that fight will be against the returning Brock Lesnar sometime in the first quarter of 2019. However, it’s also believed Cormier will fight longtime rival Jon Jones once more before retiring as well.

Should that take place, however, there will always be doubts about Jones’ competitive integrity. After having issues with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in the past, Jones has once again found himself in a bit of controversy. “Bones” is set to face Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of this weekend’s UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV). Initially, the fight was to take place in Las Vegas.

However, traces of turinabol were recently detected in Jones’ system. It has been said that those traces are leftover from Jones’ initial failed drug test last year, and are not new traces. Despite this, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) did not license Jones to fight this weekend. This forced the UFC to move UFC 232 from Vegas to California, where Jones was able to get licensed.

After the news initially broke, Cormier took to Twitter to react:

“He tested positive again!”

Stipe Miocic, the man Cormier defeated to win the heavyweight title, offered a response:

“I’m always clean. I train and drink Modelo.”

“I know you are and that’s why It was a pleasure in the lead up to the fight with you, and if we do it again it will be the same.”

What do you make of Miocic’s message to Cormier after Jones’ drug test incident?

Junior Dos Santos Eyes Rematches With Three Top UFC Stars

Junior Dos Santos eyes fight against three top UFC stars including two former champions should he win his next fight at the UFC Adelaide event.

Junior Dos Santos eyes fight against former UFC heavyweight champions Cain Velasquez and Stipe Miocic leading into his next fight. He’s actually fought Velasquez three times.

First, JDS beat him by KO in just 64 seconds at the first UFC on FOX event. However, he dropped losses to Velasquez at both UFC 155 and UFC 166. He’s also looking to get revenge against Miocic and Alistair Overeem. If you recall, he suffered a loss to Miocic at UFC 211 and Overeem at UFC on FOX 17. JDS talked about wanting to get his chance at these fighters once again in a recent interview.

“That would be great to have a fourth fight with Velasquez,” Dos Santos said (H/T to MMAMania). “No doubt I would love to fight him again, I would love to fight Miocic again. And maybe even Alistair Overeem. He did great in his last fight, so maybe we can have also a rematch. I wanna fight this guy.”

UFC Adelaide (also known as UFC Fight Night 142) is set to take place on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. At this show, he’s expected to fight Tai Tuivasa in the headliner. He continued by stating that he wants to fix the mistakes that he made in these previous fights.

“Because in my mind I committed mistakes in those fights. That’s why they won. They are not better than me. And if they think that’s done, it’s not done. The only way it’s done is if they go away like Cain Velasquez is doing – going away. Then it’s done. If they stay here and they fight in the UFC, it’s not done and I’m coming for them.”

Stipe Miocic is tired of being overlooked for his heavyweight title rematch. Now the former champ claims he will ‘finish’ Daniel Cormier if given the chance.

Despite being the longest reigning UFC heavyweight champion and the only heavyweight champion with three title defences, Miocic is still waiting for his rematch.

Back in October, the UFC made a surprise announcement that Derrick Lewis had been offered a short notice fight against Cormier to save the main card at UFC 230. Given that Lewis was fresh off his come from behind win over Alexander Volkov in October, that decision left fans and Moicic scratching their heads.

“DC” has made it clear that he plans on retiring at the end of March of 2019. That’s right before the double champ turns 40 years old. And Moicic is getting sick and tired of waiting around.

Cormier responded to Miocic’s Twitter call out and said he will entertain a rematch with the Cleveland slugger if the Lesnar fight falls through.

If Cormier does get his wish and fight Lesnar early next year it would easily be the biggest payday in the double champ’s career. However, the Lesnar fight is not a done deal by any means. “The Beast” is currently several months into the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool. The pool requires all fighters to be tested regularly during a six month period. The program is in place to ensure the fighters are not taking any performance-enhancing substances.

If the Lesnar fight falls through and for whatever reason Stipe can’t go, there is always Jon Jones vs. “DC” III. Except the potential trilogy fight could be at heavyweight. Now that’s a fight I think most fight fans want to see.

Stipe Miocic Clowns Daniel Cormier’s UFC 230 Win Over ‘Instagram Star’

Daniel Cormier became the first double champ to defend both titles last Saturday (Nov. 3, 2018) night at UFC 230 when he defeated Derrick Lewis in the main event.

Although “DC” effortlessly imposed his will over the larger challenger, not everyone was impressed. The longest-reigning heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, believes Cormier took the easy way out by fighting Lewis instead of him.

Or as Miocic eluded to, an “Instagram star.”

“Yeah, I saw the fight. I saw ‘DC’ beat a guy with a bunch of Instagram followers, with one hand,” Miocic said on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show.

“I offered myself to fight ‘DC’ on that card and he said no. They told me that he wasn’t available and literally a week later, he is fighting Lewis. It was annoying (watching the fight), it should be me,” he added. “There’s a ton of guys who never defend the belt and they get title shot rematches. I defended it three times, did it as a favor for a super fight and I don’t get a rematch?”

Cormier knocked Moicic out in the first round of their heavyweight super fight at UFC 226 to claim the title. Since then, Miocic has been trying to invoke his rematch clause but Cormier doesn’t seem too interested. “DC” admits fighting Miocic on short notice is much more challenging than Lewis.

Whatever the case, Moicic wants his belt back and to do so he needs to fight the champion.

“I mean, it’s not like he was beating me the whole fight. I was winning that fight and he caught me with a shot,” he added. “It’s not good enough. You think I was in great shape? 100-percent (he would’ve fought.) I want my belt back, that is my belt.”

If Cormier does indeed retire March of 2019, it may be difficult for Miocic to get his rematch. Cormier would figure to have one fight left in that time frame and he is looking at big-time money fights. Unfortunately, Miocic isn’t a money fight.

“I’ll just keep talking, man. I deserve the shot. I broke the record, I worked my butt off, defended it multiple times, more than anyone in (heavyweight) UFC. There are guys who have never even defended the belt and got a rematch.”
