Georges St-Pierre may not want to rush back to the Octagon anytime soon after narrowly defeating Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks on Saturday night, but UFC president Dana White has other ideas.

Speaking to Todd Grisham of ESPN, White reportedly feels that GSP owes it to both the fans and the sport to grant Hendricks a rematch:

FOX Sports’ Mike Chiappetta and ESPN’s Brett Okamoto had more from White from the post-fight press conference:

White’s comments come on the heels of St-Pierre’s post-fight interview which saw the champion alluding to an extensive hiatus due to personal reasons, per Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times:

Whether Georges St-Pierre will stick to his word and take some time away from the sport remains to be seen, but it’s indisputable that Hendricks remains the true No. 1 contender in the welterweight division. After watching Hendricks earn the nod on one judge’s card, there’s little doubt that a rematch would be a highly marketable fight.

Hendricks was able to rock GSP with his signature left hand, especially in the early going, but St-Pierre did just enough to secure three rounds according to two of the judges and thus defend his belt for the ninth consecutive time.

Should GSP stick to his guns and retire, he would do so as one of the greatest fighters in UFC history. His current title-defense streak is only topped by Anderson Silva’s run of 10 title defenses. However, this won’t be the last we see of GSP if White has anything to do about it.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones Says He Would “Kill” Richie Incognito

Add UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to the list of people who are not overly impressed with Richie Incognito, the Miami Dolphins player currently embroiled in a bullying scandal

In a radio interview Tuesday with The Sports Junkies on Washington, D.C.’s 106.7 The Fan, Jones told interviewers he would “kill” Incognito if given the chance.

“I’d kill him,” Jones said, according to a transcript of the exchange. “Someone tweet him, let him know I’d smoke him. Easy.”

Though Jones was obviously joking, he did seem aware of and agitated by the public accounts of the drama surrounding Incognito, who was suspended indefinitely by the Miami Dolphins after accusations surfaced that he had bullied teammate Jonathan Martin, who abruptly left the team two weeks ago.

The case has made national headlines and added fuel to an ongoing discourse over bullying in the workplace.

Incognito, an offensive lineman who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012, has a long history of behavioral issues and personal problems.

While playing football in college, he was dismissed from the University of Nebraska despite his star potential following a litany of personal problems, including multiple fights and spitting on an opposing player.

Incognito then transferred to the University of Oregon, but was kicked off the team a week after joining it because of unspecified issues.

Despite this baggage, he was drafted into the NFL, where he acquired a reputation for dirty play and confrontation with players and coaches. In the wake of Martin’s departure from the Dolphins, a now-well-publicized voicemail from Incognito surfaced. In the call, Incognito hurled brutal insults at Martin, including a racial slur for African-Americans.

Jones, 26, won the UFC light heavyweight title in 2011 and has since defended it six times. His older brother, Arthur, is a defensive lineman for the Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens. His younger brother, Chandler, is a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots.

Junior Dos Santos Reportedly Doesn’t Remember Most of Fight vs. Cain Velasquez

The fight game is a dangerous business, as former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos can attest. Following his bout with current champ Cain Velasquez Saturday night at UFC 166, dos Santos was visibly battered and beaten before the fight-ending TKO in the fifth round.

Apparently, he is somewhat unclear on how that happened.

According to Combate.com (via Fighters Only), dos Santos remembers very little of the fight with Velasquez, and actually thought the bout ended in Round 2. His corner believes that he made it to Round 5 “on autopilot.”

The fight came less than an hour after Diego Sanchez worried fans with an incoherent post-fight speech following a 15-minute brawl with former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. It had some wondering aloud if the original “Ultimate Fighter” may be showing signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

JDS rocked Velasquez almost immediately after the start of the bout. After that, however, Velasquez dominated the fight, outworking the Brazilian with nonstop dirty boxing and ground-and-pound. Velasquez landed 274 total strikes (123 significant) by the time the fight ended.

While alarming, this sort of revelation isn’t unheard of in MMA

Dos Santos’ team basically repeated what former UFC middleweight champ Rich Franklin discussed following his UFC 147 bout with Wanderlei Silva. Per MMA Fighting, Franklin stated after the fight, “When that kind of stuff happens, you remember bits and pieces…my coach told me not to get greedy, to pick my punches. I thought I did a good job of that. I was operating on autopilot.”

The fight was the third run-in between Velasquez and dos Santos. In their first fight, “Cigano” scored a big upset victory by landing a hard right hand and finishing the fight in just over a minute. The second bout was radically different, with Velasquez repeatedly scoring big takedowns and landing a bevy of strikes to reclaim his heavyweight strap.

The third fight was essentially identical to the second, with the only major difference being that dos Santos was finished in Round 5.

Yeah, that just happened.

At the end of the video, the defeated kangaroo can be clearly seen breathing and regaining consciousness, which should give us all a little relief.
