Chandler, the current #5 ranked lightweight contender, has been sidelined since December of last year, suffering an eventual third round rear-naked choke submission loss to former interim champion, Dustin Poirier.

As for McGregor, the former undisputed lightweight and featherweight titleholder has hismelf been out of action since July 2021, fracturing his left tibia and fibula in a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to common-foe, Poirier.

Earlier this year, both Chandler and McGregor wrapped up filming on reality television show, The Ultimate Fighter 31, with the duo expected to fight at the welterweight limit before the close of this year.

Responding to Chandler’s prediction and claims, McGregor predicted his own one-sided win over the Missouri native, having previously claimed he would “slice through” the former Bellator lightweight titleholder.

“I sweat you, and all of you, not one iota,” Conor McGregor tweeted

Initially linked with a September matchup with the Crumlin native, McGregor has yet to return to the USADA testing pool or summit a drug test sample since the third quarter of 2021 – insisting he would only need to summit two negative test samples in order to make his Octagon return, rather than also spend a period of up to six months in the anti-doping agencies testing pool.

Former undisputed UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has called for a fight with former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor once again – claiming he would “beat the f*cking piss” out of the Dubliner if their potential fight stays standing.

Conor McGregor blasted by UFC enemy, Jorge Masvidal

Previewing his UFC 287 clash this weekend with TMZ Sports, American Top Team mainstay, Masvidal has claimed the promotion are still chasing a “promoter’s dream” fight between himself and the Dubliner.

“I’ve sold myself 1.3 million pay-per-views, and Conor (McGregor), I mean, the story goes without saying,” Jorge Masvidal said. “Just 1.3 in one night against me and (Kamaru) usman in the first one [fight]. It’s a promoter’s dream. It’s a dream fight for a promoter, but the UFC can’t get him to signed the dotted line.”

“I think in many ways, I’m really, really bad for Conor’s style, brass, and brand because I’m not going to take him down and see what he’s about,” Jorge Masvidal explained. “I’m going to beat the f*cking piss out of him in the standup. I’m going to make him quit in the standup. I’m going to take his shots, laugh at them, and then give them right back and break him.”

Weighing up his fighting future ahead of UFC 287 in quite candid fashion, Miami veteran, Masvidal explained how he would likely have to consider retiring from mixed martial arts if he drops a fourth consecutive loss when pitted against Burns this weekend in the ‘Sunshine State’.

Matt Serra Chael Sonnen defend Conor McGregor he's being f*cking slimy UFC

Chael Sonnen has recently gone on record defending former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor‘s persona, believing ‘The Notorious’ is in character when he’s trash talking his opponents.

Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra however has a different, perhaps more realistic outlook on it:

Wrong Chael Sonnen. What the fuck are you talking about gangster,” Matt Serra said on his UFC Unfiltered podcast with comedian, Jim Norton. “Chael, what the fuck are you talking about? He didn’t break character because he’s being a douchebag, ’cause he’s being the way he normally is. His fucking leg shattered. You think when he gets backstage he’s going to be like, ‘Hey hey, we’re selling ’em for that fucking trilogy fight.’

No motherfucker, he’s being honest, trying to be just fucking slimy and say some dirty shit to somebody’s wife,” Matt Serra said. “That’s not being in character, that’s just having a lack of fucking character. And the truth, the cage, listen – I know Chael, he practices all his WWE lines and shit. And he did it to make money. Chael’s good.

It’s not like Chael had a broken shin and he’s on the floor going, ‘tell your wife I like it medium rare.’ Like the steak (joke) with Anderson Silva. He’s funny, ‘I like it well done’, he was saying stuff that was pretty funny, ya know what I mean? But don’t be sitting there saying Conor is some grip. ‘Wow he doesn’t break the fourth wall’. Yeah, please. Are you crazy dude? That’s just who he (McGregor) is, that’s the way he is.

“Tell me he’s a great actor and that’s not him breaking character. What the fuck are you talking about Chael?”

It is difficult to say whether or not McGregor is in character when he says all of these things.

One could think that they saw the real version of McGregor going into his rematch with Dustin Poirier, as he was respectful and courteous in the entire leadup to that bout. Then again, others could think if he can turn on someone as quickly as he did Poirier, in the leadup and aftermath of their trilogy bout for instance, he really is being himself.

What do you think, is Matt Serra right?

Justin Gaethje quit the UFC if Conor McGregor lands title shot

Former interim UFC lightweight champion and current #2 ranked contender, Justin Gaethje has claimed that if former duel-weight champion, Conor McGregor receives a shot at Octagon gold with a win over expected next-opponent, Michael Chandler later this year, he would likely leave the Dana White-led organization.

Gaethje, a former interim gold holder under the promotion’s banner, most recently co-headlined UFC 286 earlier this month in London, England – halting the run of Rafael Fiziev in a close, back-and-forth majority decision success.

The victory returned Arizona back to the winner’s enclosure, after he had unsuccessfully challenged for undisputed lightweight gold against former champion, Charles Oliveira on home soil in the ‘Copper State’ last May.

As for McGregor, the Dubliner, who is without a lightweight victory since a 2016 coronation against common-foe, Eddie Alvarez, has been out of action since headlining UFC 264 back in July 2021, fracturing his left tibia and fibula in a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss against another common-opponent, Dustin Poirier.

Justin Gaethje would likely depart the UFC if Conor McGregor is granted title tilt

Himself targeting an end-of-summer Octagon comeback – potentially in a rematch with fellow former interim titleholder, Poirier, Gaethje claimed he would “probably” leave the organization if McGregor is granted a title tilt with a win over Missouri veteran, Chandler.

“Would I quit if Conor (McGregor won and they [the UFC] gave him a title shot? Probably,” Justin Gaethje told ESPN during a recent interview. “That’s how hurt I would be by the actions of the company I represent. But that’s out of my control.”

“I just really hope that doesn’t happen,” Justin Gaethje explained. “We can imagine a lot of things, but there’s a possibility that that’s the scenario [that happens]. Which I would be devastated [about], for sure.”

Without a professional victory since January of 2020, McGregor defeated another common-opponent, Donald Cerrone with a 40-second TKO at the welterweight limit.

Gaethje also recently felt the wrath of Crumlin striker, McGregor earlier this week, the 34-year-old labelling the former interim champion a “handicap” in a now-deleted Twitter post
