Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans has not been offered a fight with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 130 in May, Evans’ manager, Malki Kawa, told MMA Fighting on Wednesday.
After MMA Weekly reported earlier in the day that Jackson’s original opponent for that event, Thiago Silva, had been forced off the card, rumors circulated that Evans could be tapped as a replacement on the May 28 fight card.
Those reports are premature, according to Evans’ management. And yet, as of Wednesday afternoon there are still questions surrounding Silva’s ability to participate in the bout.
As rumors surface that Thiago Silva may have tested positive in his UFC drug test, we can’t help but notice he chose to wear a t-shirt as he posed for pictures during the UFC 125 weigh-ins. Could it be, he figured drug tests would come back positive and didn’t want us to scrutinize his […]
As rumors surface that Thiago Silvamay have tested positive in his UFC drug test, we can’t help but notice he chose to wear a t-shirt as he posed for pictures during the UFC 125 weigh-ins. Could it be, he figured drug tests would come back positive and didn’t want us to scrutinize his weigh-in pics for bacne as we did with Chael Sonnen’s weigh-in pictures below when he tested positive after his UFC 117 bout against Anderson Silva?
Hmmm…seems fishy…and yet the plot thickens, as Thiago Silva spoke with Tatame and denies he’s been contacted and/or cut from his UFC 130 fight against Rampage Jackson. Silva says: “Nobody called us about anything, the fight is on.”

– MMAWeekly was the first to report that UFC light-heavyweight contender Thiago Silva has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled match against Quinton Jackson at UFC 130 (May 28, Las Vegas). "Sources close to the bout" confirmed that Rashad Evans will be stepping in for the Pitbull — meaning that Evans’s first opponent since outpointing Quinton Jackson last May will be…Quinton Jackson, once again.
– However, Thiago Silva himself denied the report to Tatame, saying "I’m very healthy and looking forward to fight Rampage…Nobody called us about anything, the fight is on.” Quinton Jackson’s camp was also surprised by the report, and according to Rashad Evans’s manager, Evans hasn’t been offered the fight either.

When Thiago Silva decided to showboat a little by playing the bongos on Brandon Vera’s back during their UFC 125 bout, UFC light heavyweight contender Jon Jones took to Twitter to voice his disapproval.
"Wow that slapping was so disrespectful.. id love to give him a slap in the face," Jones wrote.
During an interview with MMAFighting.com, "Bones" explained his reaction to Silva’s grandstanding.
"It kind of bugged me, only because we all fight, and just losing alone is humiliating enough. It’s embarrassing. … Think about all the people who watched those fights. All [the Brandon Vera] fans, all the members at his school, all the kids that look up to him. Man, it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way," he explained. "It’s not something I would ever want done to me and it’s not something I would ever do to someone else. … There’s ways of looking for an opening besides playing pattycake on a guy’s back."
In a recent Q&A with Tatame, Silva attempted to explain why he pulled the seemingly disrespectful stunt.

Those of you who were paying attention to Phil Davis’ Twitter account this week (and really, why wouldn’t you be?) already knew that the light heavyweight up-and-c…
Also on the horizon, it’s reported that fresh off showing his lack of social skills against Brandon Vera at UFC 125, Thiago Silva will step in the cage against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 130. Both guys are coming off wins and it’s conceivable that the winner of that bout could be added to an ever-growing list of title contenders at 205-pounds. But wait, that’s not all. After the jump some other alleged upcoming dates in the Octagon.
Filed under: UFC, FanHouse ExclusiveAs Jon Jones’ Twitter followers might have noticed on Saturday night, the UFC light heavyweight wasn’t a fan of Thiago Silva’s slapping maneuver against Brandon Vera late in their UFC 125 bout.
Jones called Silva’s treatment of Vera “disrespectful,” and added “i’d love to give him a slap in the face.”
To many people on the internet, it looked like an instant rivalry. As Jones explained to MMA Fighting this week, it’s not that he has anything personal against Silva, but rather against blatant displays of disrespect between professionals.
