It featured a great main event, but tonight’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) Khabib vs. McGregor main event at UFC 229 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, was marred in controversy. Now it’s time Dana White responds.

Undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov put on a wrestling clinic over the course of four rounds. He repeatedly ground McGregor and smothered him into the mat. In the end, he won with a brutalizing fourth-round submission. The scene that followed is what’s getting all the airtime, however. “The Eagle” scaled the cage and jumped into the crowd to fight McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis.

It was a controversial, disgusting scene that marred an otherwise legendary victory for Khabib. Not surprisingly, White isn’t too happy about it. He responded to the all-out chaos in a post-fight interview on FOX Sports 1:

“A Lot of bad stuff. A lot of stuff that shouldn’t have happened. Um, you know, Khabib jumped over the cage and went after one of the Conor’s teammates who I guess was talking trash to him, and all hell broke loose.

“You know, this is uh, another, you know, obviously I don’t, I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m just disugsted and sick over it.”

Because of the brawl, White admitted the Khabib vs. McGregor rivalry was far from over. He expected as much based on the pre-fight banter.

What he didn’t see coming, however, was Khabib scaling the wall and starting the fight:

“No. they both made it very clear the rivalry would not be over after the fight. But I didn’t see Khabib jumping over the octagon. I didn’t see that coming. And we had so much security and metro here, and everything, so, that was interesting. I didn’t see that coming.”

No one did, Dana, no one did. Finally, White revealed that Nurmagomedov’s AKA teammates Daniel Cormier and Luke Rockhold calmed the chaotic scene:

“Yeah, Daniel Cormier and Luke were great in trying to diffuse the whole thing, so yeah.”

The wait is over. UFC 229 Is here. Before Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov collide in the biggest fight in MMA history Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis square off in the co-main event.

“El Cucuy” Makes his return at UFC 229 against “Showtime” Pettis in a contest that should decide the next challenger in the lightweight division.

Ferguson, 34, is coming off a knee injury that would cost him his lightweight title. “El Cucuy” is widely considered the rightful #1 contender. If he gets past Pettis a match-up with the winner of UFC 229’s main event would seem prudent.

As for Pettis, he has alternated between wins and losses in his last five-six fights. In his last outing, Pettis looked tremendous as he submitted Mike Chiesa in the second round of their fight at UFC 226. Win or lose, “Showtime” is always an exciting fighter.

Round One

Pettis waste no time as he attacks Ferguson’s knee with leg kicks. Ferguson looks like he may be favoring his recently injured knee. Pettis looks to want to counter and he is playing angles here to start the fight. Ferguson is dictating the cage generalship. Ferguson is pressing the action halfway through round one. Kicks, punches, Furguson is delivering the will array of strikes here. Pettis attempts a handstand kick, Ferguson lands an inside leg kick and backs Pettis up. The round ends with a flurry from Ferguson.

Round Two

Ferguson runs to the center of the cage. He eats a spinning back fist and is in trouble. Pettis lands a nasty left hand that sends Ferguson to the ground. Ferguson is in trouble, Pettis is in top control landing strikes. The referee stops the action for the Doctor to look at a cut on Pettis’ head. The fight resumes Ferguson continues forward pressure. Ferguson has Pettis against the cage and he is unloading shots. Pettis answers back with strikes of his own. The last minute of the round is a wild flurry from both guys. Pettis attempts a wheel kick as the bell sounds.

  •  Tony Ferguson defeats Anthony Pettis via TKO (Corner Stoppage) at the end of round two

Tonight’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been built as the biggest event in UFC history. If that promises to be true, the UFC 229 prelims certainly got it off to a fitting start.

Welterweight Tony Martin met veteran Ryan LaFlare in the opening bout of the Fight Pass-aired UFC 229 preliminary card. Martin talked a decent amount of trash heading into the fight, and he backed it up. The bout was a back-and-forth one for much of the opening two rounds. LaFlare landed several solid body kicks while Martin scored with many right hands.

The third round was a different story altogether, however. Martin landed a devastating head kick that crumpled LaFlare. A few follow-up shots on the ground spelled an end to UFC 229’s opening preliminary bout. Watch the awesome stoppage victory here:

And here is a slow-motion shot of the kick landing flush:

Tonight’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the biggest UFC fight ever. It’s understandable that it’s bringing the biggest and best from the sports and entertainment worlds. That was clear when superstar rapper Drake became involved.

Such was the case at last night’s UFC 229 ceremonial weigh-ins. Chaos erupted at the scene, with Conor McGregor throwing a kick at Khabib, a McGregor fan slapping a woman, and more McGregor fans just being all-out buffoons.

Drake caused a commotion of a calmer kind when he joined McGregor onstage. The rap game’s biggest star is clearly a part of Team McGregor. He even wore an Irish flag to show his loyalty:

Drake even took time to laugh it up with McGregor and his family backstage:

Hans Molenkamp posted an up-close video of Drake and McGregor at the weigh-in on Instagram:

And of course, the UFC didn’t waste the opportunity to promote the sports/music crossover:
