Tyron Woodley was on Instagram Live with Ariel Helwani yesterday and revealed that he would indeed be getting the infamous Jake Paul tattoo that was agreed upon for both sides in a bet leading up to their boxing match in August.

‘The Chosen One’ caused Paul some problems last month but ultimately slumped to a decision defeat in his boxing debut.

Post-fight, the YouTuber agreed to rematch Woodley if he honored their tattoo bet. So far, the former UFC champion has failed to do so and as a result, Paul has turned his attention to a potential grudge match with Tommy Fury.

“Tommy Fury should have never even been in position for the bag,” Woodley said on Instagram with Ariel Helwani. “I’m gonna just let the week go through and see what happens. I think the most sensible thing to do is run it back, I think I’m getting this tattoo Saturday, by the way. Yeah, I just feel like I should do it because it’s a solid thing to do. I’m going to do it on Saturday.”

Paul issued some guidelines following their bout on his social media saying that Woodley cannot get it covered and that is must be visible with shorts and a shirt on. Woodley says he has not yet decided where he will get it, and is considering his knuckles as the spot to put it.

“I don’t know yet, I’m gonna think about it,” Woodley said. “Not neck, not face. I should have put it across my f*cking knuckles. To me it’s like this, if a dude wants to pay me to whip his ass, since he supposedly ‘paid me and promoted the fight’, then I love you. (Laughs). Because you’re that dumb.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

It remains to be seen if Woodley will actually follow through with the bet, but it certainly seems like that’s the direction he’s leaning. Paul in the meantime, is looking for his next opponent and while a rematch with Woodley isn’t out of the realm of possibility, the man Paul seems to have set his sets on is Tommy Fury. The UK boxer has already turned multiple offers to fight Paul and scoffed when the internet celebrity made a “final” $1 million proposal. This issue in fight talks with Fury could present a lucrative opportunity for Woodley.

Do you think Tyron Woodley will get the tattoo? Who’s next for Jake Paul?

According to the YouTube star-turned boxer Jake Paul, Tommy Fury has denied two “abundant offers” to fight.

Jake Paul is turning up the heat and issuing a third and final offer to the 7-0 boxer. The two were linked to fighting each other after the blockbuster Aug. 29 Showtime event between Paul and former UFC champion Tyron Woodley featured Fury on the undercard.

On fight night, Paul was rocked in the fourth round against Woodley, but the “Problem Child” controlled the tempo for most of the fight and won by split decision victory. Overall, the Showtime boxing card was a success having tipped the scales with a promising estimate of 480,000-500,000 PPV buys. In the undercard, Tommy Fury outpointed the 7-5 MMA fighter Anthony Taylor to a unanimous decision victory.

The patience of Paul appears to be wearing thin as he insists that Fury take the fight. Paul has been criticized for not having faced “real” boxers and is looking to erase that sentiment by defeating Fury in his fifth boxing fight to date.

“Tommy ‘Fury’ has denied 2 abundant offers from my team. Timmy “Fury”…. this is your last offer… $1 million, 8 rounds. 4x more than you have ever made. Either step up and fight OR accept that you and your Dad don’t believe in you @tommytntfury.” Jake Paul posted.

A report we ran earlier this month indicated that Woodley and Jake Paul both walked away with a disclosed $2-million dollar payday. With Paul offering just half of that amount to Fury, it remains to be seen if the half-brother of the famous boxing heavyweight champion will be enticed by the offer.

Jake Paul followed up his final offer on Twitter by drawing attention to the fact that “real fighters” have been more difficult to negotiate with than MMA fighters. In addition to offering him his biggest payday ever, Paul continued to prod on social media as to why these “real fighters” have a chance to shut him up yet they refuse to respond to his negotiations.

Do you think Tommy Fury should accept Jake Paul’s $1 Million offer?

Tyron Woodley tried to get an ‘I Love Jake Paul’ tattoo, but the artist never showed up for the appointment.

Jake Paul offered Woodley a rematch after defeating him via split decision in a boxing match; only if he got the tattoo. Since 10 minutes after the fight finished, Woodley has been trying to gain the rematch with Paul. It’s no secret that the fight with Paul was one of Woodley’s biggest pay day. It was said that Woodley made upwards of $2 million in his fight with ‘The Problem Child’.

Paul gave Woodley a specific set of guidelines for his tattoo after issuing the terms for a rematch. Woodley in his interview with TMZ proclaimed he was actually waiting for the artist to show but, Paul’s artist was the one who no-showed. “It wasn’t willing,it was waiting. I was waiting on him to follow through with their end of the deal.”

It seems as if Paul has moved on to other possible lanes in terms of his next match. There has been back and forth recently between Paul and Jorge ‘Gamebred‘ Masvidal. Paul has been calling Masvidal out and even insinuated that he wasn’t in control of what he could do with his career. UFC president Dana White came out and said there would be no way Masvidal would fight Paul.

The Woodley-Paul saga may be finished, but Woodley will be returning to the booth for UFC Vegas 37. Although the boxing match with Paul did not go his way, it is nice to see a familiar analysts face this weekend. The legendary former Welterweight champ always has very good insight on the fights. Expect him to be as resourceful as ever in his return to the booth.

It’s been a while since we saw Tyron Woodley in the UFC broadcast booth, but that will change this weekend at UFC Vegas 37 as the former welterweight champion will make his return to commentary and analysis of the fights.

Woodley is just weeks removed from his split-decision loss to YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul and at least for the moment doesn’t plan on returning to MMA any time soon. He’s hopeful for an immediate rematch with Paul, but contract negotiations haven’t materialized just yet.

For now, Woodley will turn his focus to commentary this weekend alongside retired UFC veteran Alan Jouban and veteran host Karyn Bryant. Michael Bisping will serve desk duty alongside play-by-play commentator Brandon Fitzgerald.

Despite losing his last four UFC fights, Woodley is considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists to ever compete in the promotion, with a welterweight title reign that began with a vicious knockout over Robbie Lawler. He most recently fought in the octagon at UFC 260, falling to Vicente Luque by first-round submission.

Woodley appeared mentally and physically in good shape for his boxing debut under the bright lights of Cleveland, OH. and has previously talked about his intentions to keep boxing in the future. It’s unclear exactly when Woodley will make his return to the ring.

Woodley signed with the UFC after the promotion merged with Strikeforce back in 2012. He quickly earned a reputation as a knockout artist with elite wrestling stemming from his time competing at the University of Missouri.

Woodley is known as one of the best analysts in the UFC broadcasting industry, despite not being involved in commentary for a while. He’s seen and done pretty much everything there is in the UFC and has a vast knowledge of the sport.

Along with his commentary duties, we may find out what Woodley’s plans are for the future during the broadcast, but that remains to be seen.

What are your thoughts on Tyron Woodley returning to commentary?

[UPDATE]

While Tyron Woodley seems to have ditched his idea for an Instagram Live session with Jake Paul mentioned in the article below, he has set a tentative date for when he could follow through with the highly hyped and hitherto hypothetical “I Love Jake Paul” tattoo.

Tyron Woodley has a new idea on how to seal the rematch between him and Jake Paul (h/t MMA reporter Nick Baldwin).

If Woodley follows through on this report and gets branded with Jake Paul’s name on Saturday, we will usher the breaking news straight to you right here on MMANews.com.

[ORIGINAL STORY PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 15, 2021, 8:00 PM]

Prior to the Paul/Woodley boxing contest last month, the two came to an agreement on a rather strange tattoo bet. The loser would get a tattoo that professes their love for the winner. Things turned complicated after Paul was awarded the split-decision victory, however. Woodley interrupted Paul’s post-fight interview to demand a rematch because he felt wronged by the judges. Paul agreed to grant Woodley the rematch on the condition that he follows through on the tattoo bet agreement.

Now in mid-September, Woodley still has not gotten the tattoo due to the fact that he has been awaiting official paperwork that guarantees the rematch. Meanwhile, Paul has stopped waiting and has moved on from Woodley altogether. As Paul explains it, Woodley took too long when dragging his feet on getting the tattoo, and now all the buzz around the pairing has fizzled out. Woodley isn’t buying the veracity of Paul’s stated reasons for declining the rematch.

“It’s off because I didn’t get the tattoo? You a fuckin’ lie,” Woodley began when speaking to TMZ Sports this week. It’s off because somebody got to him in the locker room, he had just got punched around, knocked through the ropes—they put those nice little Cleveland ropes in there to keep him in there—and then Jake…I talked to my manager, I’m like, ‘Cool, what we doin’?’ We gettin’ this fuckin’ tattoo? Where the shit at for the rematch?’”

Woodley reiterated that all it took for him to get the tattoo was Paul’s team taking the necessary steps to guarantee the rematch, and he gave them more than an adequate amount of time to do so in the dark hours immediately following the event.

“I was waiting! I was waiting. I wasn’t willing; I was waiting. We had no food. All the chicken wings was gone, all the pizza was gone, everything you want to eat after a fight, everything was gone,” Woodley said. “We was in the basement of the hotel waiting, no food, up looking stupid. No, I was not willing. It was waiting. And I was waiting on them to follow through on their end of the deal.”

Jake Paul may have moved on from the idea of a Paul/Woodley II marquee, but Woodley hasn’t. In fact, he has even presented a new proposal for the YouTuber that includes Woodley finally getting the “I ? Jake Paul” tattoo.

“Shit, tell [Jake Paul] let’s go live,” Woodley instructed the TMZ interviewer. “I’mma talk some more shit to you, and you can watch me get this dumb-ass tattoo while we go live on Instagram.”

Jake Paul has named Tommy Fury as a strong candidate for his next fight and has also said he’d be fighting Masvidal next if it were totally up to him. An undeterred Woodley is not changing course just yet, however, and is clearly willing to do whatever it takes to stand across from Paul in a boxing ring again.

What do you make of this last-ditch effort from Woodley to score the Jake Paul rematch?
