New video from Sunday’s boxing match shows just how close Tyron Woodley was to finishing Jake Paul.

Woodley and Paul met in a highly-publicized boxing match on Sunday night. the two went toe-to-toe for the entire scheduled 8 rounds, which ultimately saw Paul declared the winner by split decision.

For the majority of the bout, Woodley appeared reluctant to engage with his opponent. The first 3 rounds saw him throw little offense, much like we saw in MMA bouts against Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington towards the end of his UFC career.

However, as the fourth round rolled about, Woodley began to at least show some sense of urgency. He started to throw his hands more, and was able to slip a punch and counter with a hard left hook. The shot landed cleanly and appeared to have Paul in a world of trouble. DAZN has since released a slow-motion clip of the punch that truly shows how bad Paul was rocked.

Paul’s head snaps back and he is forced to lean on the ropes for support. But to his credit, he never goes down and was able to keep his wits about him. It was the first time we’ve seen Paul in any sort of trouble during his boxing career, and he showed that – despite what people think about him – he has some degree of toughness in his DNA.

Unfortunately for Woodley, he was unable to take advantage of the moment and allowed Paul back into the fight. While the second half of the fight proved much more competitive than the first, Paul had already done enough to earn himself the victory.

What’s next for Woodley remains anyone’s guess. He called for an immediate rematch against Paul, but the intrigue behind the fight is largely now gone and the former YouTube star probably has his eyes set on bigger and better things. Woodley could see if there are other opportunities for him in the boxing world, or he could see if any other major MMA organizations are willing to bring him on board. Of course, it’s also entirely possible we’ve seen him in his last fight and he hangs up the gloves for good.

Jake Paul has beaten Tyron Woodley but this feud may not be over.

Paul and Woodley collided in the main event of a Showtime PPV card. The action was held inside the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul and Woodley weren’t exactly active in the bout but there were some moments of action. The bout went the distance and Paul was awarded the split decision win.

After the fight, Paul questioned how one judge could score the fight for Woodley (h/t Mirror).

“I don’t know what to say, but he’s a tough opponent. He’s been boxing, fighting, striking for a number of years, I’ve been doing this for three years, this one was for Cleveland. My legs felt weird from when we walked out, I don’t know what was wrong with me. That split decision was bulls***, especially in my hometown, where’s that judge at?”

Woodley didn’t exit the ring in silence, either. He said he feels he won the fight and called for a rematch.

“You’re the one that got wobbled, If these ropes weren’t so big you would have fallen through them. If this was the second biggest pay-per-view of the year, then the rematch will be the biggest.”

Paul said he’ll fight Woodley again under one condition. The popular YouTuber said Woodley has to get a tattoo saying “I Love Jake Paul” on his leg.

The two had made a handshake bet before the fight. The loser would have to get a tattoo of the winner’s name. Paul is trying to ensure that Woodley follows through on the bet.

Throughout the fight, Woodley appeared hesitant to throw punches. Paul did a good job counterpunching early in the fight but he certainly began to tire as the fight went on. With that said, Woodley’s output was simply too low to get him the nod.

The fifth and sixth round were really tight. Paul did well to regain his composure, but Woodley seems to be gaining confidence as this fight moves on.

‘T-Wood’ really put the pressure on in round seven. The former UFC welterweight champion pressed forward and landed some good shots. Paul stayed on his backfoot and used his jab well.

The final round opened up with a wild exchange. Woodley thinks he needs the finish and came out intent on getting it. Again, Paul withstood the early swarm and used his jab to fend Woodley off and ultimately see out the final round.
