We all have that one guy who we consider to be one of our favorites even though we now for a fact he’s a little bit overrated.

For me it’s Brock Lesnar, but unlike most people I dont go around saying “Brock Lesnar could beat Fedor in his prime,” because that is just crazy talk. Here are a few of the most overhyped and overrated fighters in MMA.

Paul Daley: ‘There Are No Anomalies to My Behavior’

In case you’re wondering, no, Paul Daley is not concerned with what you think about him. Even after earning himself a lifetime ban from the UFC for sucker punching Josh Koscheck after their fight at UFC 113 and, in the process, drawing the continued ire of many MMA fans, rehabilitating his image is still the last thing on Daley’s mind.

“As long as I do myself justice, I’m okay,” the British welterweight told MMA Fighting. “The people who love me, people who support me, the fans that I have, they know that I’ve always been myself. There’s never been two sides to me. Throughout my career you’ll always see some things happening again and again, and that shows I’ve always been myself. I’ve never been playing a character. There’s a pattern in my behavior, and it’s a steady pattern.”

Which means…what, exactly? That poor displays of sportsmanship aren’t so objectionable as long as they’re genuine? That hitting an opponent after the bell isn’t as bad as changing your personality to suit the situation? By all means, let’s let “Semtex” explain.

Paul Daley Gets 30-Day Slap on the Wrist for Post-UFC 113 Koscheck Sucker Punch

( UFC contract: $Millions,  30-day suspension: $0, Becoming a bigger heel than Josh Koscheck for sucker punching him after the bell: PRICELESS)

Paul Daley is lucky he didn’t sucker punch Josh Koscheck in Nashville.

Otherwise, he likely would have received a much heftier punishment for the May 8 infraction than the 30-day suspension the Quebec athletic commission — the Régie des Alcools des Courses et des Jeux (Regulators of Alcohol, Racing and Gaming) — sentenced him to in his absence at a hearing in the French-Canadian province today.

Sherdog’s Loretta Hunt is reporting that the suspension may not even affect the British welterweight who fought on the July 18 Impact Fighting Championships card where he submitted Daniel Acacio and who is slated to take on Jorge Masvidal at Shark Fights 13 on Sept. 11 — two days AFTER his suspension ends if it begins immediately.

At some point this weekend, Paul Daley is going to have to look around at the company he’s keeping in Australia and ask himself some tough questions.

Who knows, maybe he already has.

Maybe when he sat down for the pre-fight press conference and looked around to see himself surrounded by aging ex-champions and noted MMA misfits of every stripe, perhaps that’s when it started to sink in that he had found himself in a sort of MMA purgatory.

Daley already knows why he’s on the Impact FC card in Sydney this Saturday and not in the UFC. We all do. After losing a decision to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113, he threw what may have been the most notorious and yet least damaging punch in UFC history. Least damaging to the recipient, anyway.

In theory, a midseason awards selection would preclude anything that happened after June 30, but let’s be informal and grant this awards column a four-day waiver so I can name UFC 116 as the fight card of the year thus far.

Perhaps because it is the freshest of events in our minds, it seems like the obvious winner, but even a closer look confirms what we knew. It was an event that had a little bit of everything you’d want in a night of action, from highlight reel finishes (Gerald Harris’ slam KO over Dave Branch) to brilliant technique (Chris Lytle’s finishing reverse triangle/armbar sequence) to a blistering main event between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin in what is rapidly becoming the sport’s glamour division.
