UFC 141 features one of the biggest super-fights in the sport of MMA. The UFC just acquired Strikeforce MMA, and with it comes their massive heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem. The UFC wasted no time in pitting their biggest fighter, Brock Lesnar, against him in what will be a huge showdown for No. 1 contender status.

With seven victories in a row, Overeem’s on fire. He’s finished six of those last seven fights, half with submissions, and half with knockouts. UFC fans are in for a treat, because “The Demolition Man” is the best heavyweight fighter that wasn’t in the UFC.

Brock Lesnar is a beast. He’s one of the most athletic fighters to ever step into the octagon, and probably the most physically gifted heavyweight ever.

This fight will be a spectacle to behold, no matter where the fight goes. Fans love heavyweight showdowns, because they’re the best fighters in the world. Smaller guys may be more skilled, but heavyweights are king. This No. 1 contender fight could very likely produce the next UFC champion.

The fight will have to start standing, and it promises to be extremely entertaining from the moment the bell rings.

Overeem is a professional kickboxer, and is one of the best in the world. He has deadly knees, kicks and drops bombs with his sledgehammers for fists.

Brock Lesnar isn’t a great striker, but the beauty of the heavyweight division is that anyone has the power to knock the other fighter out.

Brock will try to take it to the ground, but he hasn’t fought anyone with the strength of Overeem in MMA. He also has to be weary of knees when going for the shot.

I imagine he’ll try to stand and bang for at least a little while with Overeem, because he won’t want to get stuffed on a shot and end up in the Dutch striker’s deadly clinch. It will be vital for Brock to check Alistair’s leg kicks, because they will certainly wear him down quickly.

Look for Lesnar to try and get inside with a one-two jab cross combo. He has definitely been working diligently on his striking for this fight, and he has a right-hand with one-punch knockout power.

If Brock can land a big shot, the fight is all his. Lesnar will keep Overeem down and surely be able to pound out a TKO victory.

There are many intriguing storylines in this fight, and it has the potential to be a UFC classic. Lesnar and Overeem is a must-watch fight for hardcore, and casual MMA fans alike.

Dana White says Nick Diaz will get the next Welterweight title-shot should he beat BJ Penn at UFC 137. Let’s see how Diaz can f*** this up…

M-1 Global Light Heavyweight Champion, Vinny Magalhaes competes against Mikhail Zayats at M-1 Challenge XXVII tournament this Friday, October 14th, is more concerned about not breaking his win streak than maintaining his title..but essentially it’s the same thing.

Cage Warriors promotion getting with the times by implementing blood testing (My God, they weren’t testing before? WTF! Those guys could have gotten the herp or HIV and they probably only get $300 to fight. That doesn’t even cover a year’s supply of VALTREX, not that I would know this…) and possible steroid testing.

Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal to add KJ Noons vs. Billy Evangelista to December 17th card.

UFC plans to move pay-per-view times back to 10pm (ET) and 7pm (PT) possibly due to a slump in ppv buys. The new-old time slot (or “classic” time slot to those of you who recall the failure of New Coke) will start with UFC 141.

Beginning with UFC 141 on Dec. 30, UFC pay-per-views will once again kick off at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT. The news was first reported by F4WOnline.com, and later confirmed by UFC officials to MMAFighting.com.

UFC pay-per-view start times were moved up to 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT in April for UFC 129 after years of starting at 10 p.m. ET to accommodate Eastern time zone viewers and media.

“We listened to our fans and partners and made decision to change back,” a company official told MMAFighting.com.

The UFC does not publicize it’s pay-per-view buys, so there is no way of knowing whether the earlier start time affected PPV sales since April.

UFC 141, headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem, will mark the UFC’s last event of 2011. The card will air live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC 141 Fight Card: Why Jon Fitch Needs to Make a Statement

Let me describe a fighter for you and you try to guess who I’m talking about.

This man (let’s call him “Fighter X”) is one of the top contenders in his division. In fact, he could very well be ranked No. 2 in the world behind the champ. Fighter X comes from a wrestling background and uses that style predominantly in his fights. Fighter X is considered a “grinder” and relies on constant pressure to break an opponent’s will.

Who am I talking about? If I added “Fighter X just challenged someone to a loser leaves town match,” I’d be talking about Chael Sonnen.

But if I said “Fighter X hasn’t lost a fight in three years, has been promised and denied title shots, has given the champ his most exciting title defence, and has been the undisputed No. 2 in his weight for nearly half a decade,” then I’m talking about Jon Fitch.

Here’s a simple question: Does Jon Fitch need to win his next fight? The answer: Only if he wants to keep his job. So I guess that’s a yes.

If we believe the rumours, then Jon Fitch is scheduled to face off against Johny Hendricks at the year end Lesnar-Ubereem Card.

Originally, Fitch wanted a rematch with BJ Penn in order to settle the score. That got shut down when Dana White declared that “The Fans” didn’t want to see that particular rematch. It’s a good thing Dana has such a Vince McMahon-esque grip on “what The Fans want.”

With that fight gone, Fitch then wanted to take a fight at UFC 139 in his backyard of San Jose in November. White agreed to this as long as Fitch was willing to face his training partner and friend Josh Koscheck. After suggesting that fight, I’m guessing White made this face.

Okay, so the Lesnar-Ubereem card isn’t such a hard spot to find yourself, really, except that he’s facing Johny Hendricks. Johny Hendricks who, on paper, has all the right tools to be the anti-Fitch missile. Elite wrestling: Check. Gritty style: Check. Epic beard: Oh, you know it.

This is almost a lose-lose fight for Jon, as Hendricks is a fringe welterweight contender at best. I don’t see Fitch stomping his foot and screaming for a title shot after three rounds of Hendricks. Actually, I do, I just don’t see management caring one bit.

Does Fitch need to win? Absolutely. A loss won’t just mean ejection from the title picture, it could even cost him his job. Dana White has fired Fitch for less in the past.

And even with a win, nothing is certain about Jon’s future. There’s still no clear timeline regarding his title shot and no one—from UFC brass, to media, to the average fan—is standing up to applaud him as the heir apparent. A win lets him keep his job, that’s about it.

Am I telling Fitch to change his style? Hell no. This is sports, baby. And in sports winning is God. Jon Fitch doesn’t have to necessarily be the World’s Most Exciting fighter to be popular. Fitch need only look to the top of his division to see that.

But still, the least he could do during his post-fight interview is to challenge someone to a loser leaves town match. Then make a racially charged comment or two. Then cheat in a title fight.

Then we might finally have a reason to care about you, Jon. But if you lose against Hendricks we could very well be looking at the next Bellator Welterweight Champion.

At UFC 141, MMA’s biggest draw Brock Lesnar will take on former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.

Lesnar will be returning from a second bout with diverticulitis while Overeem will make his highly anticipated UFC debut.

The huge heavyweight match-up may be just as big, if not bigger than the heavyweight title match between Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos.

Although some fans may not like it, the winner of Lesnar vs. Overeem should get a shot at the winner of Velasquez vs. dos Santos.

Here’s are the reasons why they deserve a title shot.
