Going into UFC 196, with former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre sitting in the front row for the main event between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, there was talk that UFC was hoping to set the stage for a potential super fight between GSP and McGregor. As Nate Diaz explained to Chael Sonnen on his “You’re Welcome” podcast this week, however, he is not “some game” that can be “f*cked with.”

Diaz told Sonnen the following during his appearance this week on his PodcastOne.com show:

“Yeah I heard (they were planning on having Conor call out GSP) but I put a big old hole in that sh*t. What did they think, that I’m some game they can play? I can’t be f*cked with, I been in the game too long. They wanted to have this big old GSP vs. McGregor bullsh*t, with Georges [sitting] in the front row at UFC 196, I don’t even wanna hear about that sh*t. Get the f*ck outta here with that. What the f*ck? I pissed off Conor McGregor, I pissed off GSP, but most of all I pissed off the UFC. Well guess what? LOL m*therfuckers. Georges is full of sh*t, he’s a bully, he was going to fight this little Irish featherweight guy? He would have held him down, that’s a freak show fight man.”

UFC lightweight and occasional welterweight Nate Diaz is once again heavily rumoured to be facing Conor McGregor. The blood bath at UFC 196 will go down as one of the most amazing moments in MMA history, as Diaz stepped in on short notice to rain on both McGregor and the UFC’s parade. The fact that he was not surprised (motherf*ckers) in the post fight interview was just the icing on the cake for most hardcore fans.

Now, with UFC 200 floating on the horizon, Diaz is all over the media. His victory over ‘The Notorious’ on March 5 has finally seen the Stockton bad boy receiving some much deserved attention. Boy, is he using it well! His most recent interview started off entertaining, but literally span out of control towards the end, and Nate Diaz hijacked Chael Sonnen’s podcast. Check out the best quotes, with the full audio segment at the end of the article!

Nate Diaz

“I don’t know if that fights official yet, but if it is they want to do it at 170. If you lose to somebody and you go and change the circumstances, then it’s kinda weak. He wants to try and win under the same circumstances, like if I lost, I wouldn’t say well next time lose 10 pounds and I’ll beat you. That’s lame. I’m a lightweight, and they want me to go up a weight class at 170? OK, I don’t care, it’s whatever they want to do.”

“They slept on it, and they were like ‘we don’t need this guy (Nate Diaz) in this position. We need Conor back in there to get his momentum back.’ So now they are just trying to get me out of here as quickly as possible, that’s what I think. (As for the featherweights) Those guys like Frankie Edgar are in a shitty position, if that was me, and I was just skipping out on the weight class, I would just leave the belt behind. Fuck, poor guys, they just want to fight for a belt, that’s their goal.”

“The reality of it is, I think I can beat anybody in the UFC, from lightweight to heavyweight. But if you don’t you could get beat by anybody too. In fight week I’m thinking in the back of my head I might get fucked up or knocked out, but I’m also thinking about what I can do if it goes well. It went down the way I expected it to go down against Conor. Just the cardio factor itself is a martial art, he fucked up…

It’s hardly a secret that nearly every fighter from 145 pounds all the way up to 170 pounds wants a fight with featherweight champion Conor McGregor, but the latest man to call him out may come as a surprise.

That fighter was none other than longtime former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who most recently loss a closely contested decision to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 83 before signing on to face dynamic middleweight Uriah Hall at May 14’s packed UFC 198 from his home of Curitiba, Brazil.

Even with that fight fast approaching, however, Silva wants to take the time to declare that he is aiming for a bout with ‘The Notorious’ in the media, telling Brazilian news source Combate that he wants to test his skills against the Irish trash talker. In the interview, Silva also touched on rematching Bisping due to the controversial ending of their fight, and Nick Diaz, whom he beat in a somewhat uninspired decision at UFC 182 (translated from Portuguese):

“It’s a challenge that I would like to accomplish. I never asked anyone to face, never asked to fight with anyone, but it is a challenge that would like to have, to test my martial skill against McGregor.Like that of a rematch against Nick Diaz and against Michael Bisping. I think McGregor is a great fighter standing in the last fight he did not fight very well because just getting into the game Nate Diaz, and is a very difficult challenge, they (the Diaz brothers) have a lot of gas standing. Have to respect the loss to Diaz does not diminish his career, but they are opponents that would like to test my skills: McGregor, Nick Diaz, and again against Michael Bisping, because the fight ended in a way that does not was nice.”

It’s not surprising to hear Silva call out Bisping for a rematch, as he’s done just that ever since their fight in London, but taking on a much smaller McGregor just doesn’t seem like something the UFC would be willing to schedule for their golden boy.

After his first-ever UFC loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, the humbled featherweight champion has been rumored rematching the younger Stockton sniper at July’s UFC 200, and then of course he probably needs to defend the belt he hasn’t since winning it from Jose Aldo last year.

Regardless, a bout between Silva and McGregor would do huge numbers, and there’s no question it would also be extremely exciting to see Silva throw down with Bisping and Diaz again.

However, with a very dangerous opponent on the horizon in “Primetime,” should “The Spider” be focused on the task at hand rather than a potential dream match that most likely would never happen?

Despite all of the talk about “everyone” being on steroids during the build-up to UFC 196 earlier this month, every fighter who competed on the card tested negative.

Some of the fighters who competed at UFC 196 were tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NAC), while some were tested by USADA, the UFC’s anti-doping partner.

UFC 196 featured Nate Diaz defeating UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor in a welterweight main event, as well as Miesha Tate upsetting Holly Holm via choke in the co-main event to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

The NAC tested 18 fighters on the card, while USADA tested the other six, including the fighters in the main and co-main events. In addition to in-competition testing, USADA also conducts random, out-of-competition testing throughout the year each year.

As of this very moment, nothing has been confirmed regarding the potentially massive Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor rematch which has been rumored for July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two met earlier this month at UFC 196 with Diaz accepting the bout on just 10 days notice, and the “Notorious” one fighting two whole weight classes above his usual home at 145-pounds.

Despite the odd circumstances, many had expected the Irish hype machine to score yet another knockout finish, but the Stockton native shocked the world, scoring a second round submission victory.

Richard Perez, a coach of Diaz, recently spoke on the possible rematch, saying that if Diaz is given a full training camp, McGregor simply doesn’t stand a chance:

“Well there’s no signed contract,” Perez told Submission Radio about the status of the rematch. “(Nate) just said they told him that he might be fighting again, 170 (against) McGregor. So I said, okay. So he’s planning on coming into the gym next week and start working out.”

“When he’s in good shape and he has no injury, he dominates. He dominates easy,” he said. “He stops people or he beats them. You know, they don’t have a chance. And McGregor had a full camp training, and he even moved up weight to get stronger. Nathan was out, enjoying himself, going to Cabo. You know, he’s eating and drinking and having fun, and they call him.”

“So if it took him two weeks to dominate a guy that’s undefeated, that’s the golden boy, what do you think is going to happen in three months training?” he said. “McGregor’s never seen Nathan in really good shape, he’s seen him only half-ass. This is nothing. He wasn’t really in tip-top shape at all.”

Not only is Perez confident that McGregor will once again be knocked off, but he’s also been a bit skeptical of the Irishman’s triumphant move up in weight.

Perez feels as if McGregor may be on some type of ‘substance’, claiming that fighters don’t bulk up so quickly without holding onto some fat:

“Like I told you at the beginning, I said I’m not the one that really knows, but just by watching a guy to come up from 145 to 170, you’re gonna have some fat on you. Believe me, you’re going to have to have some fat somewhere. Around your waist, somewhere. He didn’t have any fat at all. He was solid muscle. So how are you going to build that much in two weeks and be solid muscle?”

“He was supposed to fight at 155, but he was already overweight. I know he was. When he found out that (Rafael dos Anjos) hurt his ankle, he called Nathan out at 170. So that tells me right there that he couldn’t get down to weight because something’s making him build up.”

“Like I said, I’m not the one who really knows about him, but to me, I feel like he’s gotta be on some kind of substance, you know, to get built up,” he said. “Cause he’s a little guy, and a little guy can’t get real bulky that quick.”

Do you see any truth in Perez’s bold accusations?

UFC superstar Nate Diaz is currently all the rage in the mixed martial arts world. After defeating Conor McGregor at UFC 196, the Stockton bad boy is finally seeing the benefits of nine years hard work in the UFC’s lightweight and welterweight ranks. He stepped in to face McGregor on just 11 days notice, but made the most of his opportunity by battering ‘The Notorious’ on the fee and sinking in a tight rear naked choke for the tap in round two.

While talking with FOX Sports immediately after the fight, Diaz said he believed the UFC was ‘never going to give him a full camp’ against McGregor. Diaz also indicated they were trying to do the same with Frankie Edgar (who was injured when the call came in to replace Rafael dos Anjos), stating ‘They are trying to bring him to the top.’ Much like his older brother Nick, Nate Diaz does not buy in to the ‘BS’ as he’d put it.

Nate

The striking of Nate Diaz was severely overlooked in the lead up to his UFC 196 bout with Conor McGregor. It was widely predicted that the only way he’d get a win against a creative stand up fighter like the Irish superstar would be to go to the mat ASAP. As it turned out, Diaz’s prediction came true, and it was McGregor who initiated a ground fight when the punches started to sting.

Take a look at this video of Nick and Nate Diaz sparring each other, followed by a recent post fight interview with 29-0 former world champion Andre Ward, where he reveals what it’s like to spar with Nate Diaz:
