Featuring one of the most anticipated heavyweight title fights in recent memory, tonight’s (Sat., January 20, 2018) UFC 220 from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, is in the books.

In the main event, heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic left no doubt about whom the ‘baddest man on the planet’ is, dominating hyped contender Francis Ngannou with a smothering display of strategy and ground skills.

The co-main event featured a light heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and surging striker Volkan Oezdemir, where Cormier answered all the questions about his status as the ‘real’ 205-pound champion by weathering ‘No Time’s’ early storm to also ground him and finish the bout with a swarming TKO in the second.

All in all, a good start to the UFC’s pay-per-view schedule.

Welterweight sluggers Abdul Razak Alhassan and Sabah Homasi had a bitter score to settle on the prelims of tonight’s (Sat., Jan. 20, 2018) UFC 220 from Boston when their first match at December’s UFC 218 ended in controversial fashion after referee Herb Dean prematurely called it off in favor of Alhassan by TKO in the first round.

Not surprisingly the fighters were intent on throwing down early and often in the immediate rematch from ‘Beantown’ as a brawl erupted. It was Alhassan who ultimately got the last laugh and came out on top in the rivalry, however, scoring a highlight reel finish in the first round with a picturesque left uppercut.

Even though UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was knocked out by disgraced archrival Jon Jones in his last fight at 2017’s UFC 214, he became the champion yet again when ‘Bones’ tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs the second time in the USADA era.

So a new era begins for DC tonight when he defends his title for the first time of his new reign, which many still feel isn’t legitimate due to the fact he’s lost to Jones twice, against surging knockout artist Volkan Oezdemir in the co-main event of UFC 220 from Boston, Massachusetts.

The lead-up to the match-up has been relatively uneventful, with Cormier making weight despite a bit of drama and scarce smack talk between the two top light heavies. But that changed a little earlier today.

Cormier was surprised to get a good luck message from Jon Jones online, and it didn’t exactly play out how you may think it would. Check out Cormier’s reaction right here:
