The official UFC rankings have been updated after last weekend’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Obviously, the biggest impact was made by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘The Eagle’ submitted former champion Conor McGregor via fourth-round neck crank (watch full highlights here) in his first title defense.

For his historic effort, Nurmagomedov rose eight full spots on the pound-for-pound list to No. 2. The undefeated wrestler only trails heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier for the top spot in the UFC as a result. McGregor fell the same six spots down to No. 8 at pound-for-pound. He also fell to No. 2 at lightweight. Tony Ferguson overtook him thanks to his thrilling TKO win over Anthony Pettis.

However, all of that could change pending the results of Khabib and McGregor’s complaints from NSAC. The fighters engaged in one of the most chaotic brawls in MMA history. It began when Khabib leaped into the crowd to assault McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh recently revealed what Danis did to set Nurmagomedov off.

Three of Khabib’s teammates assaulted McGregor and were arrested. They will not face charges, however, after McGregor declined to press them. But the NSAC was not so lenient on ‘The Eagle.’ They withheld his sizable $2,000,000 purse for the fight. It is possible he could be stripped of the belt as well. UFC President Dana White recently offered his thoughts on his champ’s upcoming punishment. Nurmagomedov’s official ranking could be changing soon as a result.

But for now, ‘The Eagle’ is flying high.

The UFC 229 medical suspensions are in for last weekend’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) pay-per-view event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 229 was a card full of blood and violence inside the cage and chaos outside of it. By now, you know that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dominant submission win over Conor McGregor was marred by a hectic post-fight brawl.

You’d think McGregor may have received a significant medical suspension for the beating. The Irish superstar can resume fighting quite soon in actuality. In the fully released medical suspensions obtained from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) via MMA Fighting, McGregor is only suspended until November 6.

He must refrain from contact until October 28. Overall, it’s great news for McGregor as he campaigns for a rematch with “The Eagle.”

Five fighters received the full potential six-month suspension for their match-ups at UFC 229. The most notable is former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. ‘Showtime’ threw down with Tony Ferguson in a bloody war. A broken hand forced his corner to call the co-main event off between the second and third rounds.

Pettis is actually out for 180 days pending clearance of a nasal fracture.

Full UFC 229 medical suspensions can be viewed here.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has issued a statement on the buzzing Khabib vs. McGregor brawl at last weekend’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from Las Vegas.

Earlier tonight, the news was released that the NSAC would pursue complaints against both Nurmagomedov and McGregor. It was a bit of surprise in that Khabib’s purse had been withheld while McGregor’s was released. Nurmagomedov infamously jumped over the cage wall to attack McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. McGregor’s coach recently detailed what Danis did to start the brawl.

The UFC 155-pound champion still stands to face fines, a potential suspension, and possibly even having his title stripped. Khabib and ‘The Notorious’ will appear before the commission in November. Building on chairman Antony Marnell’s words from earlier today, the NSAC issued a statement on the brawl:

The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s (Commission) primary function is to regulate unarmed combat within the State of Nevada. The events that occurred on October 6, 2018 at the conclusion of the Nurmagomedov-McGregor contest—the main event of UFC 229—are currently under investigation by the Commission’s Executive Director, Bob Bennet. Neither the Commission nor its staff, including Executive Director Bennett, will comment on matters under investigation.

No Charges Pressed

Three of Khabib’s teammates simultaneously jumped into Octagon to fight McGregor as Khabib battled Danis. Those men were reportedly arrested, but McGregor ultimately refused to press charges. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) issued their own brief statement that the fights were small and resulted in no arrests:

LVMPD officers assisted with breaking up several small fights that took place after Saturday night’s UFC main event in Las Vegas,” the statement read. “After all parties were separated, no one involved wished to press charges and no arrests occurred.

UFC President Dana White was firm that Khabib’s teammates would never fight for the UFC again.

One of those teammates allegedly involved, featherweight Zubaira Tukhugov, boasted he had “slapped McGregor as promised” anyway. Chairman Marnell said the NSAC had their eyes on this man and knew where he was located.

So the fallout from one of MMA’s craziest scenes is still very much in motion. What will it end with?
