Madison Square Garden will host UFC 230 this evening (Nov. 3, 2018) as Daniel Cormier Defends his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis, we have you covered with all the results.

To say that matchmakers had some challenges putting together UFC 230 would be an understatement. It seemed every other day there was a change to the co-main event or the main event. Hurdles abound, Dana White and the boys (Sean Shelby & Mick Maynard) managed to put together a pretty compelling night of fights for the New York fans.

The co-main event of the evening offers a match that was more or less thrown together in an attempt to save and bolster a lacking UFC 230.

New York’s own Chris Weidman will do his best to give the fans something to cheer about as he takes on the always dangerous Jacaré Souza. Not only does this bout serve as the co-main event, but one would think the winner of this fight positions himself nicely as the front-runner to challenger for the 185-pound title.

The “All American” has gone 1-3 in his last four fights. His lone win in that stretch, however, is over Kelvin Gastelum. The same Gastelum that is challenging Robert Whittaker for the middleweight title in Australia next year.

Jacaré has gone 2-2 in his last four fights. He beat Tim Boetsch and Derrick Brunson and lost to Whittaker and Gastelum. With all the parody in the middleweight division, it seemed only a matter of time before Weidman and Souza collided.

Round One

Souza takes the center of the Octagon with a low stance. Weidman throws a one-two that backs the Brazilian up. Souza is stalking forward. Weidman clinches and lands a knee. Souza throws a right hand, the fighters separate. Weidman lands a straight right hand that stuns Souza. Weidman takes his time and Souza recovers and lands a punch of his own. Weidman pressing the action now and keeping his jab in Souza’s face. Souza lands a left hook to the liver that wobbled Weidman. The round ends with the fighters stalking each other. Close round but I think Weidman’s jab was the difference.

Round Two

Weidman picks up right where he left off in round one. His jab is terrific tonight and his hands look great. Souza is trying to make this fight dirty and he is landing some big punches in the process. Weidman smokes Souza with a right hand, Souza is hurt. He recovers and lands a hard leg kick and stuns Weidman with an uppercut. The fight slows for a good minute or so but then picks back up as Weidman pumps his jab. Weidman clinches Souza against the cage, Weidman goes for a trip but Souza spins out. The round ends.

Round Three

The round starts with a hug from the fighters. Weidman lands a hard leg kick and then one to the body. Souza moves forward and lands a combo of punches that hurt Weidman. Weidman guts it out and fires back some shots of his own. Weidman’s hands have never looked better. He has worked his jab all night and continues to do so. Souza lands a massive right hand on the temple that sends Weidman to the canvas. Weidman is out of it. Souza tells the ref to stop the fight. It is over. Wow.

The third straight 185-pound fight will serve as the PPV’s midway point. The No. 7 ranked David Branch will take on the ever-slimming-down Jared Cannonier.

A Renzo Gracie black belt Branch is more than capable of rolling with any middleweight in the world. It’s his hands, however, that has been his main focal point leading up to UFC 230. An impressive performance gets Branch right back in the title picture.

Cannonier started off his UFC career with a loss to Shawn Jordan at UFC 182 back in January of 2015. Cannonier was a heavyweight back then; he has since dropped down to light heavyweight and UFC will mark his third weight class at middleweight. The “Killa Gorilla” is a notoriously fast starter, he will no doubt be trying to end the New Yorker’s night early.

Round One

Cannonier fires a leg kick to start the fight and Branch answers with a takedown. Cannonier does a good job defending and manages to get the fight back to the feet. He lands a nice left hand on Branch’s chin. Branch closes the distance and smothers Cannonier. He drags the fight to the ground and lands some soft punches to Cannonier. Cannonier manages to get the fight back to the feet again and continues to walk down Branch. Cannonier lands a one-two and throws a spinning kick that nearly connected. The round ends with Branch attempting a takedown.

Round Two

The round starts and Cannonier lands a hard leg kick. He follows it up with a right hand that drops Branch. He follows it up with a barrage of devastating ground and pound to end the fight.

  • Jared Cannonier defeats David Branch via TKO at 29 seconds of round two

Hurdles abound, Dana White and the boys (Sean Shelby & Mick Maynard) managed to put together a pretty compelling night of fights for the New York fans.

Another very interesting middleweight fight will keep the PPV rolling as Wales Jack Marshman will look to give Karl Roberson his second straight loss since joining the promotion.

Marshman has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights dating back to the end of 2016. He is looking forward to competing at MSG and is honored to be only the second person of Welsh descent to fight MMA in the historic building.

Roberson looked fantastic in his first two fights in the UFC. “Baby K” was holding his own in his last fight until he got caught with an arm triangle with 15 seconds left in the first round. Roberson looks to bounce back against Marshman after suffering the first defeat of his career.

Round One

Roberson opens up with a hard left head kick that Marshman blocks. Both men throwing into the air trying to find their range. The fights clinch against the cage briefly. Roberson lands a crisp left hand that stuns Marshman. Marshman throws a leg kick but looks tentative as he tries to close the distance. Roberson lands a hard body kick and backs up Marshman with a barrage of blows. Marshman fires back and hurts Roberson. Marshman moving forward and having some success with leg kicks. Very close round. The bell sounds.

Round Two

Roberson takes the center of the Octagon with a bounce in his step. Marshman moves forward and lands a combo. Roberson lands a hard left hand that stops the Welchman in his tracks. Roberson lands another hard straight left hand. Marshman has a heck of a chin as he is taking some serious shots tonight. From out of nowhere Roberson lands a big double leg takedown but the fight stalls once it hits the canvas. Roberson lands a couple of soft left hands with 60 seconds left in the round. The last minute of the round was virtually eventless. Roberson’s takedown should win him the round.

Round Three

The fights exchange leg kicks to start round three and then Roberson follows that up with another hard left hand. Both guys fainting a lot here in the final frame. Marshman pushing forward and eats a flurry for his effort. Roberson lands a big double leg takedown again. He looks for a key-lock submission but quickly gives it up. Roberson moves into full mount with one minute left in the fight. He is landing some mildly damaging punches as the fight ends. Roberson should win this fight.

  • Karl Roberson defeats Jack Marshman via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)
