Jorge Masvidal has skyrocketed his own stock with a tremendous 2019 run under his belt. “Gamebred” won all three of his fights this year via KO or TKO. The first being a second-round starching of Darren Till in enemy territory from London.

He followed that up with a record-breaking five-second knockout win over Ben Askren. And then, Masvidal became the Baddest Mother F*cker in the game by defeating Nate Diaz via controversial third-round TKO – by way of a Doctor’s Stoppage – in the main event of UFC 244 from Madison Square Garden.

Now, Masvidal has a plethora of options for his next fight in 2020, which will likely draw big business. Options stretch from a welterweight title opportunity, to facing an upset Nick Diaz, all the way to the possibility of fighting UFC megastar Conor McGregor. The Irishman took a subtle jab at Masvidal following UFC 244 on Twitter.

Speaking on “The Dan Le Batard Show” today, Masvidal was again asked about possibly fighting McGregor down the line. Masvidal said McGregor talked a lot about fighting the winner of himself vs. Diaz at UFC 244, notably picking Diaz to win the fight.

However, after Masvidal actually won, the Floridian said McGregor hasn’t made a peek since. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“To be quite frank, he was flirting with fighting the winner when the possibility of the winner was Nate,” Masvidal said. “And he kept throwing it out there. He even made his prediction he thought Nate would win. Since I’ve won, he hasn’t said a peep to address me or nothing.”

Masvidal said he’s not going to beg or bully McGregor into fighting him, and is instead focused on landing the fight that makes him the most money.

“I’m not a bully, either,” Masvidal said. “I’m not going to be one of these cyber bullies. If you don’t want to fight, I don’t want to fight. If you want to fight, I’m licking my chops. Man, we’re going shopping. We’re going to do it big. You know what I’m saying? That dude don’t want it.”

What do you think about McGregor not calling out Masvidal after his win over Diaz?

One of many attractions for this month’s UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) event was the involvement of WWE legend and Hollywood megastar, The Rock.

Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, helped hype the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship fight main event between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. He also was to wrap the title around the winner’s waist, a job typically done by UFC president Dana White. Masvidal, a fellow Miami native of Johnson’s, wound up winning the fight.

Afterward, Johnson shared a bit of advice with “Gamebred” backstage. Speaking on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” this week, Johnson revealed what he told Masvidal after beating Diaz. (H/T MMA Fighting)

“I congratulated him of course and I talked to him about what this opportunity meant and how this BMF title that is somewhat polarizing in the sport of MMA — some guys were behind it and some guys weren’t — but again, this is this unique experience that kind of transcends weight divisions and the sport because it has such street cred,” Johnson said.

“There’s incredible champions who are incredibly disciplined and skilled in multiple disciplines of MMA, and then there’s the BMFs. So I was very happy for Jorge… So I reminded him what an incredible opportunity this is and to take advantage of it and continue to work hard as of course he is going to do.

“And also, he’s got a sharp wit about him which makes him very likeable. He loves to talk sh*t, as we all do down in Miami, but he also has a cool, sharp, smart wit about him and he’s got his head in the right place, and his head being in the right place is wanting to do everything he can to impact his own bottom line, impact the company’s bottom line, which will in turn generate more income for himself and the fighters. So he’s really making sure that his value is realized.”

Now, Masvidal has plenty of options for his 2020 return. He could wait for the winner of the welterweight title fight in December between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, try for a money fight with Conor McGregor, or continue to pursue the boxing fight he has called for with Canelo Alvarez.

No matter what “Gamebred” decides to do next, one thing is for certain, the combat sports world will be watching intently.

What do you think about what The Rock told Masvidal after winning the BMF Title?

This week, Nate Diaz took to Instagram to suggest that he might be retiring from mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.

Diaz was defeated by Masvidal at UFC 244 last week due to a Doctor Stoppage after the third round. Up until the decision to stop the fight, it was a pretty lopsided performance in favor of Masvidal. While Diaz called for a rematch shortly after due to the controversy surrounding the finish, he later changed his tune on Instagram.

He posted the following:

“F*ck a rematch this sh*t was over before it started I’m goin on out on tour Peace out fight game”

After giving the MMA community a few days to digest the possibility, Masvidal himself has offered his reaction to Diaz teasing retirement. “Gamebred” took to Twitter and noted he heard the news of Diaz retiring may, in fact, be true.

If that’s the case, he said he had fun sharing the cage with him, and is still down to rematch him anytime.

Heard it might be true. If so, it was fun sharing the cage with you. If you ever get that itch, I’ll be waiting. Until then, I’m gonna go get this paper #theresurrection

What do you think of Masvidal’s reaction to Diaz’s potential retirement?

Anderson was fined $10,000 for what the commission described as “unsportsmanlike and disorderly conduct” following his TKO victory over Johnny Walker in the featured preliminary bout. After his win, Anderson yelled at Walker before seemingly pushing the referee.

The NYSAC has suspended all those who have been fined indefinitely, until their fines have been paid in full. UFC 244 went down from Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was headlined by a Baddest Mother F*cker Championship fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

Masvidal wound up winning the main event via TKO in the third round due to a Doctor Stoppage. As for the co-main event, Gastelum was defeated by Darren Till via split decision.

There was a lot of controversy and mixed reviews on whether or not United States President Donald Trump was cheered or booed at UFC 244 last week.

Trump was in attendance to watch the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. According to UFC commentator Joe Rogan on his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan said the crowd “booed the f*ck” out of President Trump.

“They booed the f*ck out of him at the UFC,” Rogan said. “Listen to daddy. I took my f*cking headphones off just to listen, and it was ‘boo!’ Yeah, man. 18,000 people going ‘boo!’”

Rogan’s guest brought up Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., suggesting that there were people chanting “USA” for the President. However, Rogan was very clear that, while there were some cheers, the majority of the reaction for the President was negative.

“Maybe four people behind him were chanting USA,” Rogan said.
“Is that what Donald Jr. said? Listen, if that was your dad, you’d probably say that too. Look, they booed the f*ck out of him. I’m sure some people clapped. I’m sure. But if you had to bet your money on it, like what was the greater percentage?

“Was it boos or claps? It was f*cking boos. Dude, I took my headphones off, I was right there. I could’ve hit him [Trump] with a rock. He was right over there. It was ‘boo!’”

The longtime UFC commentator noted that fans love to boo, and that it’s fun for people to be negative in large crowds at sporting events.

“For sure some people cheered,” Rogan said. “For sure. For sure some people waved at him, saw him wave at people. Look, some people are psyched to see him. If I was in the crowd and I was hammered, I’d be like, ‘What’s up bro?!’ I’d yell at him, I’d say hi, I’d wave at him.

“But, the reaction, when he walked in, was a lot of boos. But that’s just f*cking gonna happen, man. He’s a controversial character. Anywhere he goes he’s gonna get – it’s fun to boo. It’s fun to go ‘f*ck you!’ It’s fun.”

What do you make of Rogan’s report that Trump was badly booed at UFC 244?
