Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Brazilian striker, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos’ second consecutive victory this evening against promotional newcomer, Benoit Saint Denis was marred and overshadowed by a truly incompetent refereeing display from official, Vyacheslav Kiselev — who failed to bring an end to the contest in the second round with Saint Denis absorbing significant punishment.

Vyacheslav Kiselev overshadows Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos win with brutal referring display

Kiselev, who officiated his first fight of this evening’s UFC 267, and likely his last of this weekend, was heavily criticized for his officiating in the second round bout between dos Santos and Saint Denis, as he allowed the latter to absorb a grueling level of punishment against the fence, as he was wobbled and swarmed upon by dos Santos throughout the middle stages of the frame.

dos Santos even beckoned Kiselev to call a halt to the affair following a lengthy barrage at the event, however, it proved fruitless, with the official allowing the bout to continue.

In the third round, Saint Denis explained to Kiselev following an inadvertent eye-poke from dos Santos, exclaiming that he “could not see” and rather than call a timeout and consult the Octagon-side physician for Saint Denis, he allowed the bout to continue.

Later in the frame, dos Santos appeared to land another unintentional foul, this time a groin strike at the Octagon fence, which resulted in a rather bizarre point deduction from Kiselev — with the latter going on to score a completely one-sided 29-26 unanimous decision across all three judges scorecards.

Emering middleweight prospect, Andre Petroski managed to maintain his undefeated run on the preliminary card of UFC 267 — stopping Hu Yaozong with a late third round arm-triangle victory in a dominant, rather one-sided submission stoppage.

Petroski, a staple of Roufusport in Milwaukee, managed to score countless takedowns against Hu throughout the three round affair, however, questions of his gas tank appeared to be on the horizon as Hu managed to stay in the fight until the very end, taking Petroski’s best shots and a handful of submission attempts.

Taking main event status in the promotion’s return to ‘Fight Island’ in an undisputed light heavyweight title fight between reigning division champion, Jan Blachowicz, and the #1 ranked one-time title challenger, Glover Teixeira.

Blachowicz enters his second consecutive event headliner off the back of his first successful title defense back in March at UFC 259, when he handed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya his first professional loss in a unanimous decision victory over the course of five rounds.

Undefeated in his last five straight bouts, Minas Gerais veteran, Teixeira managed to lastly take home an impressive, rallying third round rear-naked choke victory over one-time title challenger, recent headliner, Thiago Santos back in November of last year at the UFC Apex facility.

In the night’s co-headliner, an interim bantamweight title fight between former undisputed champion, Petr Yan and the #3 rated contender, Cory Sandhagen is also slated.

In his first bout since dropping his undisputed title via disqualification back in March at the aforenoted UFC 259 event, Yan looks to rebound from his first promotional loss after he landed an illegal knee on now-champion, Aljamain Sterling.

Suffering a close split decision loss against former two-time division champion, T.J. Dillashaw back in a July headliner in Las Vegas, Nevada — dynamic Elevation Fight Team trainee, Sandhagen had scored a pair of stunning knockout wins over both Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes prior to the judging defeat.
