Former undisputed UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has called for a fight with former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor once again – claiming he would “beat the f*cking piss” out of the Dubliner if their potential fight stays standing.

Masvidal, the current #11 ranked welterweight contender, returns to the Octagon this weekend at UFC 287 on home soil in Miami, Florida – taking on Brazilian challenger, Gilbert Burns in a pivotal matchup at the welterweight limit.

As for McGregor, the Crumlin striker has been sidelined since fracturing his left tibia and fibula against Masvidal’s training partner, Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

The 34-year-old former undisputed lightweight and featherweight titleholder has been pegged to return to the Octagon later this year – as well as the welterweight limit for the first time since 2020, in the form of a matchup against Michael Chandler. The duo had served as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 31 earlier this annum.

Conor McGregor blasted by UFC enemy, Jorge Masvidal

Previewing his UFC 287 clash this weekend with TMZ Sports, American Top Team mainstay, Masvidal has claimed the promotion are still chasing a “promoter’s dream” fight between himself and the Dubliner.

“I’ve sold myself 1.3 million pay-per-views, and Conor (McGregor), I mean, the story goes without saying,” Jorge Masvidal said. “Just 1.3 in one night against me and (Kamaru) usman in the first one [fight]. It’s a promoter’s dream. It’s a dream fight for a promoter, but the UFC can’t get him to signed the dotted line.”

“I think in many ways, I’m really, really bad for Conor’s style, brass, and brand because I’m not going to take him down and see what he’s about,” Jorge Masvidal explained. “I’m going to beat the f*cking piss out of him in the standup. I’m going to make him quit in the standup. I’m going to take his shots, laugh at them, and then give them right back and break him.”

Weighing up his fighting future ahead of UFC 287 in quite candid fashion, Miami veteran, Masvidal explained how he would likely have to consider retiring from mixed martial arts if he drops a fourth consecutive loss when pitted against Burns this weekend in the ‘Sunshine State’.

Set to be without champion-branded shorts for the first time in his Octagon tenure since April 2019, former undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya will sport blue compression shorts for his upcoming UFC 287 title rematch with Alex Pereira this weekend.

Adesanya, a former undisputed and interim middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, most recently headlined UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden – sporting green and gold trimmed champion compression shorts.

Suffering his first loss at the middleweight limit in his professional mixed martial arts career, the Nigerian-Kiwi striker had established a healthy lead on all three judge’s scorecards heading into his fifth and final round battle with Pereira.

However, with just minutes remaining in the last frame, the City Kickboxing staple dropped a standing TKO loss to former two-division GLORY Kickboxing champion, Pereira at the Octagon fenc – losing his undisputed middleweight throne.

Former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has hit out at the undefeated, Khamzat Chimaev – questioning if the Chechnya native is utilizing steroids, and questioning his longevity in the sport.

Masvidal, the current #11 ranked welterweight contender, returns to the Octagon this weekend in the co-main event of UFC 287, taking on Brazilian contender, Gilbert Burns.

Returning to his native, Miami, Florida – Masvidal has a three-fight losing skid to overcome against Burns, having previously dropped a pair of losses to former champion, Kamaru Usman, and last March, former interim titleholder, Colby Covington.

Hitting out at undefeated #3 ranked welterweight contender, Chimaev ahead of this weekend’s flagship event – Masvidal questioned how the AllStars MMA staple could call for a title fight after missing weight in his last outing.

Jorge Masvidal blasts rival, Khamzat Chimaev

And now, Masvidal has questioned if Chimaev had been utilizing steroids ahead of UFC 279, before predicting his impending exit from mixed martial arts.

“I’m not accusing him of using steroids – which I wouldn’t be surprised [of] anyway,” Jorge Masvidal said of Khamzat Chimaev during an interview with The Sporting News. “But anyone that’s doing steroids and not making the weight, you’re not a fighter. You are a version of a fighter, but you’re not a pure fighter because you can’t do that.”

“…I don’t think guys like that – he had already retired at some point because he caught Corona (COVID-19), or the flu, I don’t know,” Jorge Masvidal explained. “He made this whole big stink. I don’t know, personally, if he’ll be around this sport much longer.”

Himself weighing up his fighting future, Masvidal remained coy on hanging up his own gloves, however, admitted a loss to Burns at UFC 278 on Saturday would likely force him to consider walking away from active competition

Jorge Masvidal may have taken his love for Scarface a little too far, drawing the ire of UFC fans.

Gamebred’ is just days away from his return to the Octagon after more than a year on the sidelines. Riding a three-fight losing streak, Jorge Masvidal will look to get back into the win column against the No. 5 ranked welterweight contender Gilbert Burns in the UFC 287 co-main event this Saturday night.

Ahead of his highly anticipated return, ‘Gamebred’ was featured on Episode 1 of UFC 287 Embedded. During his segment, the Miami native decided to show off some of his “hardware” while quoting Tony Montana, the main character from the classic 1983 Brian De Palma film.

“Say hello to my little friend,” Masvidal said. “Usually don’t like, you know, showing the pieces off and stuff. But you’re in my casa, right? My house. So we’ll show you some of the hardware we keep on deck. It’s not loaded, don’t worry. But this is just in case anybody gets personal.”

It was then that Jorge Masvidal pointed the gun directly at the cameraman, a move that quickly drew criticism from fans online. You can watch the segment in question at the 7:35 mark below.

“Did he really point a gun at the UFC Embedded camera man and actually pull the trigger? That’s just nuts. (I know he said it’s not loaded but how many people have died/been wounded after thinking that?) Wow… just wow.”

One commenter can’t imagine toting a gun around on camera is the smartest move for a man who will be facing a criminal trial for allegedly assaulting a co-worker outside of a Miami steakhouse in March 2022.

“Hilarious if the fight got canceled cuz Jorge got arrested for violating bail conditions.”

Jorge Masvidal is expected to go on trial on May 22 following a pre-trial hearing scheduled for May 10. Gamebred’ is accused of attacking former friend turned bitter rival Colby Covington in Miami weeks removed from their UFC 272 clash.

Covington earned a unanimous decision victory, but the rivalry was far from over in the eyes of Masvidal. If convicted, ‘Gamebred’ faces up to 15 years in prison on the aggravated battery charge in Florida.

Attempting to turn the tide on three combat sports losses to Alex Pereira at UFC 287 this weekend, former undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has admitted his surprise that he is closing as a betting favorite to regain his crown amongst bookmakers.

Adesanya, the current #1 ranked middleweight contender and former undisputed champion, is slated to headline UFC 287 this weekend against Sao Paulo striker, Pereira, attempting to reclaim his undisputed divisional throne.

Dropping his crown at UFC 281 back in November of last year, Nigerian-Kiwi striker, Israel Adesanya suffered his first loss at the middleweight limit across mixed martial arts, with Pereira striking with a blistering fifth round standing TKO in Madison Square Garden.

Israel Adesanya admits Alex Pereira has unique power ahead of UFC 287

Attempting to sway and turn in his first victory against Brazilian knockout artist, Pereira in Miami, Florida this weekend, Adesanya, who is fast approaching a betting favorite at close of markets for their UFC 287 re-run – admitted his surprise to learn that fact.

“I am surprised [about the odds], to be honest,” Israel Adesanya told TMZ Sports. “‘Cause I thought these bookies were not as smart as they are. I’m surprised they actually picked me as the favorite cause I am the more polished fighter, but he’s the guy who got the tools, he’s got that nuke. Only a few fighters in history have that.”

Entering each of his prior title defenses as a betting favorite ahead of fight night, Adesanya had turned in a dominant performance against former two-weight GLORY Kickboxing champion, Pereira prior to his fifth round TKO loss back in November of last year. And ahead of the clash, Pereira has accused Adesanya of returning to the Octagon too soon following his stoppage defeat.

Unifying the division titles in 2019, Adesanya would then secure successful title defenses over Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori, former champion, Robert Whittaker, and Jared Cannonier.

In his sole other professional mixed martial arts loss, City Kickboxing ace, Adesanya suffered a decision loss to former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz in 2021 in an unsuccessful title pursuit.

Jorge Masvidal Colby Covington UFC title shot I thought you had a brain injury

Ahead of his own Octagon return at UFC 287 this weekend, former two-time title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has questioned how former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington can challenge Leon Edwards for gold this summer, pointing to the Clovis’ claim to have suffered a brain injury during their extracurricular altercation in March of last year.

Masvidal, the current #11 ranked welterweight contender, is scheduled to return to the Octagon at UFC 287 this weekend in Miami, Florida – taking on fellow division contender, Gilbert Burns in a pivotal co-headlining slot.

Sidelined since March of last year, Miami veteran, Jorge Masvidal suffered a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Covington in their long-awaited grudge match.

As for Covington, the Californian attended UFC 286 last month – serving as an official backup to the event’s welterweight title fight between Edwards, and former opponent, Kamaru Usman.

And following the conclusion of the pay-per-view main event, Covington has been slated to fight Birmingham native, Edwards in an undisputed welterweight title fight this summer.

Earlier this week to boot, reports detailed how the promotion was targeting a welterweight title fight between Edwards and Covington for UFC 291 on July 22. – with the flagship event earmarked for London, England.

Jorge Masvidal questions how Colby Covington has landed a UFC title fight

Questioning Covington’s stake to a title fight with Edwards, Masvidal scoffed at the idea of the #2 ranked contender challenging for gold next.

“More than anything, he’s (Colby Covington) claiming that he has a brain injury, so now, all of a sudden, you could fight?” Jorge Masvidal said during an interview with The Sporting News. “I have three felonies because this guy’s saying that I allegedly, did this and I allegedly did that and he has a brain injury off of it, but you can go fight for a world title if you’ve got a brain injury?”

“I don’t know why exactly he (Dana White) did that [announce Colby Covington as the next title challenger],” Jorge Masvidal continued. “But I also know that maybe he’s setting up the stage real high for me. He wants me to go in there and just smash a record on Gilbert’s (Burns) face so there’s like no question about it. Masvidal is fighting for the belt and that’s the only way around it.”

In his most recent professional victory, Masvidal earned a fourth doctor’s stoppage TKO victory over Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 back in November 2019 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
