Dana White Defends $250k Gift To Nelk Boys Member: ‘Mind Your Own F*cking Business’

Dana WhiteUFC president, Dana White has defended his highly-criticized decision to gift Nelk Boys member, Kyle Forgeard a birthday present of $250,000 in cash, claiming that the “scumbag MMA media” is driving the narrative, as well as urging onlookers to keep their noses out of his business. Dana White

UFC president, Dana White has defended his highly-criticized decision to gift Nelk Boys member, Kyle Forgeard a birthday present of $250,000 in cash, claiming that the “scumbag MMA media” is driving the narrative, as well as urging onlookers to keep their noses out of his business.

Dana White, the long-time head honcho of the UFC, has come under fire in recent years amid the longstanding and high-profile fighter pay and revenue split issue between the organization and its contracted fighters – with numerous high-level contenders as well as champions voicing their displeasure with their current paydays.

Earlier this month, footage emerged from the aforenoted, Forgeard’s official Twitter account, where White, a friend of the latter and other Nelk Boys members, gifted him a cash sum of $250,000 for his birthday, in a zip-locked plastic bag.

Dana White has blamed the “scumbag MMA media” for the backlash he has received

Amid a series of backlash, UFC flyweight alum, Louis Smolka called for his fellow fighters to unionize following the release of the footage, however, White has urged those who took umbrage with his lucrative gift to mind their “f*cking business”.

“Let me set this record straight,” Dana White said on The Pat McAfee Show. “First of all, all these people on the internet – go f*ck yourselves. Ok. I spend my money however the f*ck I want to spend my money. Mind your own f*cking business.”

“Number two; if you look at what Kyle (Forgeard) and the Nelk Boys have done as far as how they’re handling and a lot of other things that they’ve done, those kids have never asked me for anything, ever. They’ve never asked me for anything, and they couldn’t be better people. Kyle has done so many things for me. Believe me, the $250,000 that I gave him for his birthday, it does not cover the amount of things that kid has done for me. Don’t count other people’s money, and mind your own f*cking business.”

As far as White’s concerned it seems, the “scumbag” mixed martial arts media are responsible for the backlash he has received, as well as shedding light on the notorious issue of fighter pay in the organization he fronts.

“A lot of this is driven by the scumbag MMA media,” Dana White continued. “So what happens is, they act like there’s this massive safe here at the UFC offices that says, ‘Fighter pay’ on it and I just go in there and grab whatever I want out of fighter pay. No, you f*cking pieces of sh*t. This is money that I have actually made over an entire career, and I will spend it however the f*ck I want.”

Tiki Ghosn, the manager of former interim UFC lightweight titleholder, Dustin Poirier has claimed that his client will likely share the Octagon with one-time vacant title chaser, Michael Chandler next – amid a longstanding rivalry between the two since the latter’s arrival in the organization.

Poirier, who challenged common-foe, Charles Oliveira for undisputed lightweight gold last time out in December at UFC 269, suffered an eventual third round standing rear-naked choke loss to the Brazilian in a headlining clash.

As for Chandler, the #5 ranked lightweight contender featured on the main card of UFC 274 back in May, stopping former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson with a brutal, highlight-reel second round front kick knockout.

During UFC 276 earlier this month, Poirier and Chandler were separated by UFC officials and security at the T-Mobile Arena, after the former confronted the latter on fighter row – as the two find themselves consistently linked with a fight in the future.

Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler have been linked to a clash before the end of 2022

Fueling the fire of a potential matchup in the near future, Chandler claimed that fans should expect some news on his next fight soon enough during his recent visit to London for the promotion’s second outing in the UK this year.

“I think you’re going to hear some fight news coming pretty soon and it could be me and Dustin Poirier,” Michael Chandler told assembled media at the O2 Arena. “We’ll see.”

As Poirier himself searches for his first Octagon walk since December, the Lafayette striker’s manager, UFC alum, Gohsn confirmed that his client is willing to fight Chandler next.

“Asked Dustin Poirier’s (@DustinPoirier) representative Tiki Ghosn (@tikighosn) for an update,” ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto tweeted. “Looks like it’s going to be Michael Chandler (@MikeChandlermMMA). Sounds like he wants the smoke and Dustin (Poirier) is going to give it to him.” UFC hasn’t reached out yet, though.”

In his most recent Octagon victory, Poirier landed a first round doctor’s stoppage victory over former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor in the pair’s trilogy rubber match at UFC 264 back in July of last year.

Anthony Smith: UFC Wants To See How His Fight Goes Before Booking Prochazka vs Teixeira II

Anthony Smith believes that the UFC is holding off on booking a Light Heavyweight title fight, because they want to see how his fight pans out first.

Lionheart‘ will be taking on Magomed Ankalaev this Saturday at UFC 277. Smith is currently the fifth ranked fighter in the division, while Ankalaev is the fourth ranked fighter and currently on an eight fight win streak.

Light Heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka, has recently accepted Glover Teixeira’s offer to run their title fight back, claiming that it wasn’t a good enough performance and he still had more to prove after their first fight. Smith doesn’t quite buy into that just yet.

Anthony Smith believes that this fight with Ankalaev will determine who the number one contender in the Light Heavyweight division is.

“[UFC President] Dana [White’s] already said that this is the No. 1 contender fight, so the winner gets a title shot, and I think the fact that they haven’t re-booked Glover and Jiri – or Jan Blachowicz vs. Jiri, I think that’s them waiting what happens with Ankalaev and I,” Smith said. “If we have a stinker and it sucks, I think they’ll slide one of those guys in. But if I think we go out and do what Ankalaev and I can do, I think the winner of this fight gets a title shot no matter what.” (Transcribed by MMAFighting)

Smith claims that this fight will be a very competitive, fun fight to watch and not a “snoozer”. Smith challenged for the title back at UFC 235 in 2019. He lost that fight to Jon Jones in a one sided, five round beatdown. Since that loss, Smith has been on a tear, winning four of his last six fights. His only other defeats came by the hands of Glover Teixeira and Aleksander Rakic. Teixeira went on to become the oldest first time champion in UFC history, and Rakic looks like he may be a champion, or at the very least a top contender for the rest of his career.

A win for either Smith or Ankalaev may just get them a fight with Prochazka, but most likely will get them a fight with Jan Blachowicz in the near future. Only time will tell if Dana was true to his words, or if he will book Teixeira vs Prochazka once again.
