It appears Petr Yan wants Henry Cejudo to lose another title.

Cejudo was recently stripped — though he claims he vacated it — of the flyweight title as he plans on competing solely in the bantamweight division moving forward.

But rather than face a top contender such as Yan, Cejudo appears fixated on facing Jose Aldo next — despite the latter losing, albeit controversially, to Marlon Moraes at UFC 245 earlier this month.

Yan, who also competed on the card with a dominant third-round knockout of Urijah Faber, has long campaigned for a bantamweight title shot. After all, he is 6-0 with the UFC and also holds wins over Jimmie Rivera and John Dodson.

But if Cejudo is willing to chase the bigger fights rather than defend the title, “No Mercy” wants him to get stripped.

Instead, he and Aljamain Sterling will compete for the vacant title:

“If triple clown @HenryCejudo looking for easy “money” fights, he can go ahead and chase his intergender championship belt,” Yan tweeted. “While I will fight @funkmasterMMA for real 135 belt #stopthecircus

Sterling is currently recovering from wrist surgery. But given that he is on a four-fight winning streak with his most recent victory coming over Pedro Munhoz, he certainly has a case for a title shot as well.

And he was down with Yan’s suggestion as he tagged UFC president Dana White soon after:

What do you think of Yan’s idea?

UFC president Dana White plans on having Floyd Mayweather compete next year.

The pair have hinted at a 2020 collaboration that involves Mayweather coming out of retirement. However, it wasn’t really confirmed whether “Money” would really be competing or just taking part in some co-promotional duties.

Although there are still some things to work out, White expects to have a deal done in the summer:

“We both started talking. The easiest way to explain it to you is Floyd and I both feel that we add value to each other,” White said in a recent interview with ESPN. “We’re going to figure something out.

“Some things have to play out and then I’m going to start talking to [Al] Haymon. Maybe this summer and then I’ll have something for Floyd in the fall.”

That something will definitely be Mayweather competing. But whether it’s in a boxing ring or the UFC Octagon is not known as of yet:

“Compete. The money is in Floyd competing,” White clarified. “We’ll see [about fighting in the UFC]. We’ll see where. We can do crossover stuff here or we could do something in boxing.”

Maybe we’ll end up getting Mayweather vs. McGregor part II?

What do you think White has planned for Mayweather?

Nick Diaz has been in touch with UFC matchmakers according to Dana White.

Diaz hasn’t competed since January 2015 but in an interview last month, hinted at coming back to face Jorge Masvidal following comments the latter made towards his little brother Nate.

When White heard the news initially, he didn’t believe Diaz wanted to return. And despite the revelation that the former Strikeforce champion has been in contact with matchmakers, White still feels he won’t compete again:

“Well, I haven’t. But I know that our matchmakers have,” White said if he’s been in touch with Diaz in a recent interview with ESPN. “I said it before, I’ll say it again, I don’t think Nick Diaz wants to fight. I don’t think Nick has that love, that passion for fighting. … I don’t think he loves to do it.”

Of course, if Diaz wants to return and fight, the UFC will definitely make it happen. But for White, Diaz truly needs to know whether he wants to because mixed martial arts is not the sport where you can compete without being fully focused:

“That’s up to Nick. Nick knows whether he wants to fight or not,” White added. “… If you come to fight in the UFC, these guys are the best in the world, savages that want to become world champion. If you’re not in the right mindset, this is not the place for you.”

Do you think we’ll see the elder Diaz brother return?
