UFC commentator Joe Rogan was one of many to have been excited with the news that Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will be colliding.

It was announced earlier today that the pair would headline UFC 244 which takes place in New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 2. UFC president Dana White even claimed a one-off “BMF” belt would be made for the bout.

Rogan reacted to that as well as the fight announcement later on in a Fight Companion video for UFC 242:

“Nate says it’s the ‘baddest motherf*cker in the game belt,’” Rogan reacted laughing. “He can’t say that, are you going to say that on TV? ESPN, you can’t say that.

“…Dude, I got so hyped,” he continued. “When I saw it on my Instagram feed this morning, I threw my arms up like someone got knocked out.”

Rogan still wants to see Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington face each other for the welterweight title. However, he can’t complain about the UFC 244 headliner as he went on to compliment both fighters, with particular praise for “Gamebred”:

“He’s [Masvidal] so clever [referencing the ‘three piece and a soda’ line]. That’s one of the best things to say about Masvidal,” Rogan added. “The thing is people don’t necessarily associate him with knockout power for some reason. But the guy knocked out Yves Edwards with a head kick, Darren Till, Cowboy Cerrone, Ben Askren, put him in another dimension with a flying knee, world record fastest knockout.

I mean, it’s weird people don’t associate Masvidal as a knockout artist. He doesn’t necessarily have the most power but he’s so good.”

Are you excited for five rounds of Diaz vs. Masvidal?

It was a massive day earlier this afternoon (Sat. September 7, 2019) for Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“The Eagle” successfully retained and unified his lightweight title with then-interim champion Dustin Poirier. Khabib dominated the fight for the most part, overcoming a bit of adversity in the second round. After escaping a deep guillotine attempt from Poirier, Nurmagomedov took control on the ground and locked in a rear-naked choke, forcing Poirier to tap out.

Now, Khabib is likely to face Tony Ferguson for his next title defense. However, UFC President Dana White noted, if Ferguson doesn’t accept the fight, a Conor McGregor rematch does make sense. Now, McGregor has offered his reaction to Khabib’s big win in Abu Dhabi. “The Notorious” called for a rematch in Nurmagomedov’s own backyard of Moscow, Russia.

Khabib and McGregor initially fought back in October, where McGregor ended a lengthy layoff to return to the Octagon. Nurmagomedov dominated the fight, submitting the Irishman in the fourth round via neck crank. Now, McGregor is itching to get back to action and hopes to secure an immediate rematch with his Russian foe.

What do you think about a potential rematch between Khabib and McGregor? Who do you think Nurmagomedov will ultimately face next?

UFC 242 is in the books, and what an amazing event it was. Of course, the night was capped off with a massive victory for Khabib Nurmagomeodv.

“The Eagle” choked out Dustin Poirier in the third round to retain his 155-pound title. However, earlier in the night, one of the most vicious knockouts you’ll ever see took place. Ottman Azaitar met Teemu Packalen in a lightweight fight to start the FX preliminary card.

Azaitar landed a massive overhand for a walk-off knockout. However, the scariest part of the knockout was Packalen’s reaction to the shot. Packalen fell face-first to the canvas, and his lower body began to shake. The referee immediately stopped the fight, and doctors soon attended to Packalen. Check out the finish here:

Thankfully, Azaitar recognized Packalen was out after the shot landed, and didn’t throw any follow-up shots.

What did you make of Packalen’s scary knockout loss to Azaitar?

Dana White has confirmed Tony Ferguson will be next for Khabib Nurmagomedov, but if he turns it down, a Conor McGregor rematch also makes sense.

Nurmagomedov successfully defended his title for a second time when he submitted Dustin Poirier in the third round of their UFC 242 headliner earlier today. The question then turned to who should face “The Eagle” next.

Ferguson is the obvious choice as he’s on a 12-fight win streak and never lost his interim title in the Octagon. However, there was also a chance McGregor could skip the line because of how big a star he is.

For now, “El Cucuy” seems to be next in line according to the UFC head honcho:

“Yeah, he’s next,” White confirmed at the post-fight press conference. “Tony Ferguson is next in line for the fight, if he accepts the fight. We’ll see how this thing plays out, when Khabib will fight again and if Tony wants to fight.”

Ferguson could have fought Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 if he accepted an interim title fight with Max Holloway and went on to defeat him. However, he had personal issues at the time and was advised against taking that fight.

If something were to happen where Ferguson doesn’t accept a Nurmagomedov fight again, then a McGregor rematch makes sense according to White:

“Tony Ferguson gets the next shot,” he added. “If for whatever reason, Tony Ferguson can’t take the fight [against Nurmagomedov] or doesn’t want the fight at that time, then we would figure out what was next.

But yeah, Conor would make a lot of sense. Conor McGregor wants that fight really badly and I’m sure the fans would want to see it. So we’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”

Who do you want to see Nurmagomedov face next?

UFC president Dana White seems to have a change of heart regarding a potential Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Georges St-Pierre fight.

Nurmagomedov had been campaigning for a bout with St-Pierre throughout the year, however, it never came to fruition. St-Pierre claimed the UFC did not want to book the fight and as a result, officially announced his retirement.

However, White seemed open to the contest following Nurmagomedov’s win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 earlier today.

“Sure,” White said before taking a long pause at the post-fight press conference when asked about a Nurmagomedov vs. St-Pierre fight.

St-Pierre recently offered a theory as to why the UFC seemed hesitant at first — because “The Eagle” represented a significant investment for the promotion:

“It makes sense in a way,” St-Pierre explained. “My agent explained it to me like, maybe he [Nurmagomedov] represents a significant investment for UFC. He reaches a different type of clientele, from the Middle East, the Muslim world idolizing him. He’s an icon.

Imagine that they invest a lot of money to promote a big fight between Khabib and I and I win the fight. [Wipes hands and smiles]. I’m out. I’m not interested in signing a fight with Khabib and guarantee them that I want to go back and fight another contender.”

Maybe the UFC is now confident Nurmagomedov wins?

Do you think we’ll see that fight?
