While Saturday’s UFC on Fox event has an epic main event in Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos, the co-main event also has Fight of the Year potential with two of the most relentless lightweights in the world collide in the form of Clay Guida and Ben Henderson.
The biggest appeal of fighters like Guida and Henderson is that they are always coming forward, refusing to accept defeat, which almost always results in an entertaining fight.
This slideshow is a salute to the fighters who always push the pace and consistently entertain the fans.

UFC president Dana White has been the driving force behind his premier mixed martial arts organization going big time on network television. His 10 years of work will be put to the test for the first UFC show on FOX this Saturday.
The one-fight televised card will feature a heavyweight matchup between current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Junior dos Santos.
White appeared on a recent episode of Jim Rome to discuss all things related to the UFC going mainstream and how Velasquez and Dos Santos match up together.
“As far as the brand goes, there are millions of people out there who have never seen the UFC that will see it for the first time Saturday night, and I think that the timing is perfect,” White said. “All the things that we’ve achieved over the last ten years, it’s time for us to take this next step.”
“Ten years ago, you couldn’t buy this on pay-per-view, and our goal was to get it onto free TV,” White continued, “People thought we were crazy, but we’ve always believed in this sport. We believed in the athletes, and we believed in this brand. We believed that we could get to where it is today. Not only that. We are in 155 countries, in 22 different languages, and half a billion homes worldwide.”
White and the UFC will be depending on only two fighters this weekend in Velasquez and dos Santos. Both come into the bout undefeated in the UFC.
Velasquez won the title last October when he stopped Brock Lesnar in the first round. Dos Santos has gone 7-0 in the UFC with wins over Fabricio Werdum, Mirko Crop, Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin.
“In putting not only the heavyweight championship out, but picking these two fighters to fight for the first time on free TV—both are great guys with great back-stories, and stylistically, this is an awesome fight,” White said.
“You’ve never seen either one of these guys in a boring fight. Dos Santos has knockout power in both hands, great takedown defense, yet Cain Velasquez is a two-time All American from ASU and also has powerful hand so this could go either way. “

Getting new people into MMA and teaching them about the sport is easy if you do it right.
How do you do it right? You show them the right fights.
Of the thousands of MMA fights there are dozens upon dozens that can be shown to a non-MMA fan in order to convert them over to the light side of the force.
Converting fans has special relevance in light of the UFC‘s nearing debut on FOX. It’ll be important to give the new “recruits” a proper grounding in what the sport means and what a good fight is.
What are some of the best MMA fights to illustrate key points as well as entertain? Read and find out!

Junior dos Santos is a man on a mission that will manifest into a collision course with Cain Velasquez this Saturday night when UFC on FOX makes its debut.
Bleacher Report was on the scene at today’s open workouts for UFC on FOX 1 and caught up with JDS, who was nice as always; a humble hulk of a man with a singular vision of wearing UFC gold.
But he will have to get through the current kingpin, Velasquez, in a fight that many are billing as the biggest and most technical heavyweight fight of all time. This generation’s “Fedor vs. Big Nog,” if you will.
Can the best boxing, along with yet-to-be showcased and supposedly stellar BJJ, overtake the best kickboxing/wrestling combo the sport has ever seen?
Tune in as Velasquez and dos Santos get set to collide in the Octagon—for the first time on FOX—in front of what will be the most star-studded crown in UFC history, hearkening back to the big boxing matches of days gone by.

On the stacked undercard of the UFC on Fox, Cub Swanson makes his much anticipated UFC debut against Ricardo Lamas.
Swanson was supposed to make his debut twice before against Erik Koch, but was forced out of the fight due to injury both times.
Lamas, on the other hand, made an incredible debut on the UFC on Versus 4 show. Lamas nailed a switch-head kick and some impressive ground and pound to defeat Matt Grice.
Both men will look to increase their title chances by putting on an exciting fight.

Welp. It’s finally almost here. UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos, or UFC’s very first card on a major broadcast network. I’m like a proud daddy. Or at least I’m like the guy who stands around in the waiting room for a minute and congratulates the grandparents while they’re waiting for the baby to be wheeled out. Since, you know, I really don’t actually have anything to do with this.
But that’s not important. What is important is that this is a stacked, 10-fight card headlined by what should be, and in my opinion will be, the greatest heavyweight title fight in the history of the UFC, and maybe all of MMA (though there are a lot of big names to dethrone in that arena).
