The UFC’s return to Poland on October 21 reportedly has its main event set.

According to reports from both MMA Fighting and MMA Mania, fan favorite Donald Cerrone will take on rising British welterweight talent Darren Till in the main event of the upcoming UFC Fight Night card from Gdansk, Poland on October 21.

Loved by fans for fighting anyone at anytime, Cerrone will take a bit of a step down in competition after two consecutive defeats to top contenderS Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal, the former a close and hotly debated decision at July 29’s UFC 214 after “Gamebred” finished him with a brutal onslaught of body punches at January’s UFC on FOX 22.

However, the 15-0-1 Till, who just beat Bojan Velickovic by unanimous decision at last Saturday’s UFC Rotterdam, won’t be an easy task by any means, as he’s one of the most dangerous up-and-coming contenders in the welterweight division.

Till added fuel to the rumor fire that he’d be fighting Cerrone by posting a picture of him signing a fight contract early this morning:

But “Cowboy” certainly is not just “any c***,” and Till would face a massive spike in competition in a fight where he would have everything to win as an expected heavy underdog.

The fight wouldn’t do much in terms of Cerrone’s overall standing at 170 pounds, but we all know he simply loves to fight.

He may have found one of the most willing men to do just that in Poland this fall. Stay tuned.

25-year-old rising contender Kelvin Gastelum has scored back-to-back stoppage victories since moving up to middleweight late last year, although his most recent victory, a TKO win over Vitor Belfort, was changed to a no-contest after Gastelum tested positive for Marijuana.

Nevertheless, Gastelum will take on former champion Chris Weidman in the main event of this weekend’s (July 22, 2017) UFC on FOX 22 from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island.

Speaking on the upcoming bout, Gastelum appeared nothing but confident. He admitted that he feels he hasn’t been given his due credit, but he expects to beat Weidman, and when he does, he’s expecting to be next in line for a title shot:

“People can keep underestimating me all they want and that’s just fine with me,” Gastelum said in a recent interview with Flo Combat. “I’ll keep flying under the radar and once they realize what I can do I’ll be sitting there as champion. It’s funny to me because I keep piecing up these guys I face and still don’t get the credit I deserve. That’s fine with me though because it’s been the story of my career and I’m used to it.”

“I absolutely believe I’ll be the next guy in the title race with a win in this fight and don’t see why that wouldn’t be the case,” Gastelum said. “[Gegard] Mousasi is gone. [Luke] Rockhold is MIA and hasn’t fought for over a year. [Yoel] Romero and [Ronaldo] Jacare are both coming off losses,” he said.

Gastelum may have a point regarding the division’s top contenders, although champion Michael Bisping is expected to meet newly minted interim titleholder Robert Whittaker next. Even though that may be the case, Gastelum is planning on calling for a title shot after his bout with Weidman:

“I’m ready to be next in line and ready for my shot and I’m calling for it as soon as they hand me the mic. I’m ready to get this ball rolling and continue my push up to get that shot.”

Do you expect Gastelum to get by the former champion?

Chris Weidman: I’m Still Here, Right At The Top

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has hit some rough times as of late, losing three consecutive bouts to the likes of Luke Rockhold, Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi, three of the very best middleweights in the world.

Weidman, however, believes he could’ve won all three of those fights and he still feels as if he’s the ‘best in the world’:

“Every one of those fights I lost, I was winning those fights and it isn’t like those guys showed they have more potential than me or that their ability is better and I wasn’t in their league,” he said in an interview with Yahoo! Sports. “There were times in those fights where it might have looked the other way, where I was leaps and bounds above them. All of them. They got their hands raised that night. They figured out a way to win,” he added.

“They got their hands raised and I didn’t, but that doesn’t dictate my potential or where I am in the division. I feel like I’m the best in the world. I just have to go out there and be relaxed and be confident and I don’t think any one of these guys could beat me.”

The 33-year-old Long Island native will get the chance to rebound this weekend when the UFC makes its Long Island debut at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Weidman will face rising contender Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of UFC on FOX 25.

Despite having a tough test in front of him, Weidman is focused on proving he’s the ‘best’:

“I respect Kelvin and he’s beaten some good guys in the middleweight division, no question about it,” Weidman said. “I just know what I can do and what I am capable of. I lost those three fights and that changes the way other people look at me, but not the way I view myself. There are different reasons I lost each one of them and to be honest, I had the worst night of my life three nights in a row.”

“I feel people are going to see the old Chris Weidman on Saturday,” he said. “I don’t even want to say the old Chris Weidman, because that kind of makes it seem like I’ve been gone. I haven’t. I’m still here, right at the top. That’s just how I feel. I’m prepared to go out there to prove I’m the best.”

Do you expect Weidman to come out on top this weekend?

UFC on FOX 22 had some great action and did a good rating as well. The event pulled in 3,178,000 viewers, which was the best number since the 3.2 million viewers that tuned into UFC on FOX 10 in January 2014. The last UFC on FOX event, UFC on FOX 21, drew 1,983,000 viewers.

The event was headlined by Michelle Waterson’s first round submission win over Paige VanZant while the co-main event featured Mickey Gall finishing Sage Northcutt. Also, Urijah Faber beat Brad Pickett by decision, which was Faber’s last pro-MMA bout. It should be noted that this was the second straight televised fight for Northcutt on a show that did impressive TV ratings. His prelim fight at UFC 200 with Enrique Marin set a record for viewership on FOX Sports 2 with 582,000 viewers.

The UFC on FOX 22 prelims drew 679,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1. The post-fight show did 139,000 viewers. The UFC attempted to bring younger stars out into the spotlight for this event, and as seen by the viewership number, it worked.

MMA fans get a rare break from UFC events as the promotion is taking a weekend off for Christmas. However, they return on December 30th in a big way as former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey returns to the world famous Octagon as she challenges Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s bantamweight title at UFC 207. The prelims for that event will air on FOX Sports 1 while the main card will air on pay-per-view (PPV).

While he looked impressive in defeating dangerous knockout artist Brad Pickett in his retirement fight in his hometown of Sacramento, California at this past weekend’s UFC On FOX 22 event, “The California Kid” was apparently dealing with a bit of nerves!

Featured above is a new video from the official UFC On FOX YouTube channel, “Urijah Faber threw up five times after the final fight of his career | @TheBuzzer | UFC ON FOX,” which reveals the fact that the MMA legend who successfully defeated “One Punch” Pickett via unanimous decision after nearly finishing him in the first round, puked five times after the bout.
