UFC 262

LowKick MMA will be bringing you UFC 262: Oliveira vs. Chandler results throughout the night (Sat. 15th. April 2021) from the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas.

Taking main event status in a vacant UFC lightweight championship tilt, the #3 ranked, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira meets with the #4 rated, ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler as the promotion crowns it’s first lightweight champion since the official vacating of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s crown earlier this year.

Entering the championship fight off the back of a division best, eight fight winning streak, Oliveira, the promotion’s most prolific submission artist earned his place in a vacant title fight with a unanimous decision win over former interim champion, Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson at UFC 256 in December.

Debuting in the UFC in January of this year in the co-headliner of UFC 257 on ‘Fight Island’ — Missouri veteran, Chandler stopped City Kickboxing striker, Dan Hooker with a brutal first round knockout following his move to the organization last year. Chandler is a former three-time Bellator MMA lightweight champion.

In tonight’s co-main event, the above-mentioned former interim lightweight best, Ferguson looks to snap a two-fight losing skid as he meets with Kings MMA staple, Beneil Dariush who has won his last six consecutively.

Prior to his December defeat to Oliveira, Ferguson suffered the snapping of his division-tying twelve fight undefeated streak in the form of a short-notice interim title loss to Justin Gaethje in April at UFC 249. Last featuring at UFC Vegas 18 in February, Dariush took home a second career win over Diego Ferreira via a close split decision success.

Czech Republic standout, Jiri ‘Denisa’ Prochazka will likely compete for UFC light heavyweight gold in his next outing — and with good reason. Headlining UFC Vegas 25, the unorthodox striker stopped former title challenger, Dominick Reyes with a vicious spinning back elbow in the second round.

Bringing his reckless and unconventional style in tandem with him to the Octagon for the main event, Prochazka broke Reyes’ nose in the first round with massive straights and combinations at the fence, likely taking the round with a 10-9 on all three judge’s scorecards.

Despite starting well in the second after some of the adversity in the opening, Reyes was still eating some significant shots at the fence — with blood leaking from his nose, which he had broken just last September against current light heavyweight best, Jan Blachowicz.

Wobbling Prochazka and forcing a double-leg takedown attempt from the #5 ranked contender, Reyes pulled guard for a guillotine, however, Prochazka eventually slipped his head out.

Returning to the feet, Prochazka once more backed the Hesperia native back to the fence and following an elbow on the break, Prochazka spun with a devastating spinning back elbow, knocking Reyes unconscious, who fell face-first to the Octagon canvas.

Below, catch the highlights from Prochazka’s stunning knockout win over Reyes.

For former Rizin FF light heavyweight champion, Prochazka, the dangerous striker enters the headliner against Reyes off the back of an eye-catching one-punch knockout win over former title chaser, Volkan Oezdemir in his promotional bow at UFC 251 in July in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

In the night’s co-main event, surging Georgian kickboxer, Giga Chikadze returns as the #14 ranked featherweight contender, tackling veteran division mainstay, Cub Swanson.
