Brad Riddell vs. Rafael Fiziev was a solid co-headliner with a special finish. 

The two fighters met in a bout on Saturday night (December 4) at the UFC Vegas 44 event from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility..

The first round had a slow start with Riddell being various cautious and not throwing a lot of volume although he was landing some leg kicks. However, Riddell did get in a nice combo to end the frame. They started to let their hands go in the second round. Brad had a cut under right eye and was bleeding from his left temple. Riddell got the brief takedown in the third round, but let him back up. Fiziev finished the fight with a wheel kick.

Riddell entered this fight on a six-fight winning streak with his promotional debut going down at the UFC 243 pay-per-view event where he picked up a decision win over Jamie Mullarkey. 

Fiziev entered the fight with a pro-MMA record of 10-1 and was riding a four-fight winning streak including his most recent win over Bobby Green by decision at UFC 265.

UFC light heavyweight contender, Jamahal Hill is back in the winner’s enclosure — and in quite spectacular fashion via a 48-second knockout win over the highly-touted, Jimmy Crute on the main card of UFC Vegas 44.

Now 9-1(1) as a professional, Hill suffered a first round knockout defeat of his own back in June at UFC 263 against Scottish submission ace, Paul Craig, which came as his first professional loss.

Displaying his dangerous striking early against Crute, Hill dropped the New South Wales native, Crute with a short right hook, with the latter able to survive and clinch momentarily.

However, soon thereafter, Crute was on the canvas once again courtesy of another big right hand from Illinois finisher, Hill — who finally got the #13 ranked contender out of there.

Making a quick turnaround, the 34-year-old made his long-awaited Octagon debut back in November at UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden, landing in the promotion with a huge first round knockout win over Phil Hawes.

Veteran middleweight Chris Curtis scores a second upset victory — stopping Brendan Allen

Scoring his seventh consecutive victory tonight, Curtis, an alum of PFL, CES MMA, and even a veteran of Dana White’s Conteder Series — Curtis, a sizeable betting underdog tonight, managed to stun and wobble Allen in the second round via a ripping left hook to the body followed by a swift right hand upstairs.

Taking his time with a finish, Curtis backed Allen back up to the fence where he picked his strikes to the head, before finding a home for a knee, which forced referee, Herb Dean to action — securing Curtis a second round victory as his UFC story continues to grab headlines.

Angolan-born flyweight sensation, Manel Kape improves to 2-2 in the UFC from four separate outings this year — stopping former Fight Nights Global flyweight champion, Zhalgas Zhumagulov with an opening round flurry of strikes on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 44.

Entering the bout with his flyweight counterpart off the back of his first Octagon victory, Kape snapped a two-fight losing run against Alexandre Pantoja and Matheus Nicolau, with a stunning opening round flying knee knockout win over ‘Ode Osbourne at UFC 265 back in August.

In search of a Performance of the Night bonus, Kape, a former Rizin FF bantamweight titleholder startly brightly against Zhumagulov — dropping the Kazakh native with a lightning fight one-two in the center of the Octagon after a brisk opening between the pair.

Unable to recover sufficiently, Zhumagulov was swarmed by Kape at the Octagon fence, who unloaded with a barrage of strikes, eventually dropping him once more before he was corralled by Keith Peterson.

Taking main event status at the UFC Apex facility is a high-stakes, potential bantamweight title-eliminator between the surging #4 ranked contender, Rob Font, and former undisputed featherweight champion, the #5 rated, Jose Aldo.

In the midst of an impressive four-fight winning run, New England Cartel standout, Font most recently headlined UFC Vegas 25 back in May — handing former bantamweight kingpin, Cody Garbrandt a one-sided unanimous decision loss.

Prior to that win, Font bested the trio of Marlon Moraes, Ricky Simon, and current Bellator bantamweight best, Sergio Pettis.

For Aldo, the veteran Manaus striker is in the midst of a two-fight winning run — most recently co-headlining UFC 265 in August, defeating fellow Brazilian, Pedro Munhoz with a unanimous decision win.
