Darrick Minner

Last weekend’s UFC Vegas 64 main card clash between Darrick Minner, and Chinese veteran, Shayilan Nuerdanbieke is currently under investigation by a United States-based betting integrity firm, after suspicious betting was detected on the bout ahead of the main card fight at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ahead of the bout, odds in favor of a victory for Nuerdanbieke shifted dramatically in favor of a win over the aforenoted, Minner.

As per a report initially from ESPN reporters, David Purdum, and Marc Raimondi, punters and bettors were poised to see Nuerdanbieke not only emerge victorious, but would also do so courtesy of a first round finish.

Approaching the main card featherweight bout, rumors began to circulate how Darrick Minner had potentially suffered an injury ahead of the fight, resulting in a slew of bets being placed on Nuerdianbieke – so much so the veteran drifted out as high as a -420 betting favorite from -220 in just four hours head of the matchup.

Within the opening couple of exchanges come the beginning of the clash, Darrick Minner attempted a body kick on Nuerdianbieke, before returning to his stance and then grimacing and clutching at his left leg.

Darrick Minner would go on to suffer a first round TKO loss

Capitalizing on the apparent injury, Nuerdianbieke closed the distance after Darrick Minner attempted a second kick from the same side, dropping the latter with a knee to the head before following up and finishing the bout a series of ground strikes and elbows just after the opening minute of the first round.

With sportsbooks around the country growing more and more suspicious amid the drastic change in line and money coming in on Nuerdianbieke, U.S. Integrity was contracted, who then alerted state gaming regulators, notifying them of irregular betting patterns and suspicious betting.

“Our goal as always is to notify the industry of any potential nefarious, abnormal or suspicious activity as soon as possible, so they can take action as quickly as possible,” Matthew Holt, the U.S. Integrity president said of the ongoing investigation. “In this case, we hope that by sending a couple hours before the fight started, we may have helped prevent some more suspicious bets from getting through.”

Upon request from ESPN for a response to the investigation, the UFC provided the following statement.

“Like many professional sports organizations, UFC works with an independent betting integrity service to monitor wagering activity on our events,” The UFC said in a statement provided. “Our betting integrity partner, Don Best Sports, a leading global supplier of real-time betting date for North American sporting events, will conduct a thorough review of the facts and report its findings. At this time, we have no reason to believe either of the athletes involved in the bout, or anyone associated with their teams, behaved in an unethical or irresponsible manner.”

Neil Magny Gilbert Burns

After a phenomenal showing at UFC Vegas 64 by Neil Magny, he didn’t hesitate in calling out former title-contender Gilbert Burns. ‘Durinho’ didn’t waste any time in replying to the challenge, and applauding Magny for his performance during his fight against Daniel Rodriguez.

Magny defeated Rodriguez via D’arce choke in the third round, which cemented his status as the holder of the most wins (20) in UFC welterweight history. This new record dethrones the previous holder, who was none other then the legend himself: Georges St. Pierre.

During the post-fight interview, Neil Magny broke down his reasoning for wanting a fight with Burns, citing his grappling prowess as an interesting enigma for him to test his skills against.

“Gilbert Burns is one of the toughest, or in my opinion, the best grappler in the division right now…” Magny began. “I feel like I did a lot of growing in that fight against Shavkat and I feel like challenging myself against a good grappler like Gilbert Burns is just going out there to show it.”

Gilbert Burns reponds to Neil Magny’s challenge

It didn’t take long for Burns to see and respond to the challenge, giving a reply online via Twitter. The Brazilian made sure to congratulate his fellow mixed martial artist though, and gave praise to Magny’s performance and new record.

“Congrats Neil Magny last time I heard UFC said I have an opponent for (Brazil), if he doesn’t show up, we can dance I’m in (100 percent) to make this Fight happen! For now great finish and congrats on your record!”

Right now, there’s no opponent set in stone to face ‘Durinho’ in Brazil, atleast to public knoweldge. Any UFC fight will typically be announced publically as soon as everything’s finalized, so this could be an indication that contracts haven’t been signed yet, meaning Magny may well be able to slip in and get the fight with Gilbert Burns that he is wanting.

Who do you want to see Neil Magny and Gilbert Burns fight next?

Polyana Viana

UFC strawweight Polyana Viana delivered a knockout blow to her UFC Vegas 64 opponent and to welterweight gatekeeper Colby Covington on the same night.

Polyana Viana blew up social media after she ran through opponent Jinh Yu Frey during a preliminary bout at The APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday night. ‘Dama De Ferro’ only needed 47-seconds to put Frey to sleep with a beautiful display of striking. However, Viana was far from done giving fans something to talk about.

MMA journalist Alex Behunin delivers fans a ‘Humanizing Athletes’ piece that focuses on a fighter’s favorite things outside of the Octagon. Behunin’s subject ahead of UFC Vegas 64 was Viana who responded to the post on Twitter, revealing details regarding a romantic tryst that she may or may not have had with outspoken welterweight star Colby Covington. Leaving little to the imagination, Viana revealed that ‘Chaos’ wanted to engage in an activity that Viana found to be quite uncomfortable. And no, not like in the back of a Volkswagon.

“Colby wanted me to finger him in the a**, but I did not want to. He got upset!”

Polyana Viana’s Comments Are a Direct Response to Covington’s Comments in 2021

Polyana Viana’s reveal appears to be a direct response to the former two-time title challenger’s comments he made about her during an interview with Submission Radio.

“Everybody’s going to have to use their imagination on that one. I am not claiming to be your boyfriend, but what’s up with titles these days? Why does there have to be a title? Why can’t two adults just have fun together? And that’s exactly what we did,” Covington claimed. “We spent a couple of days together and had a great time together. I got to work on my bedroom cardio, keeping world-class championship form. And that’s that. I have got nothing but respect for her. Polyana is a great girl, beautiful girl.”

Following Covington’s claim, she called the welterweight star “revolting” and denied that anything had happened between the two.
