UFC Fight Night 88: Almeida vs. Garbrandt goes down in Las Vegas, Nevada this Sunday May 29, meaning it must be weigh-ins day here at LowKickMMA. Undefeated bantamweight killers Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt front the card in Sin City, being described by UFC president Dana White as the ‘sleeper card’ of 2016. UFC vet Brendan Schaub just went nuts on Dana White, maybe the UFC Reebok deal forcing Schaub out of fighting wasn’t the only thing bothering him…

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub recently called it quits on his mixed martial arts career to pursue his new venture of being a podcast host. Along with pals Joe Rogan and Bryan Callen, ‘Big Brown’ is starting to dance to a whole different tune, one not ruled by Reebok restraints and allegedly greedy promotions. Now free from the commitment of training and fighting, as well as the media obligations, Schaub has been able to speak his mind much more freely.

He indicated that Reebok was a big influence on stepping away from fighting, and that he simply makes much more doing podcast hosting than he ever did fighting. For The Ultimate Fighter veteran, it was just too much for too little, and his performances weren’t as good as they once were.

As said, he’s getting more outspoken, but so is UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, who has the Joe Rogan Experience podcast now firmly popular. His contract comes to an end in 2016, and the long time anchor has said he doesn’t know if he’ll be renewing it.

All this has led to much more open discussions, and Schaub has just taken it to the next level. While voicing his opinions, he pretty much blasted UFC president Dana White as a shady ‘Scrooge McDuck.’ It’s probably safe to say Brendan Schaub won’t be fighting for the UFC if he ever does come back.

[VIDEO] Jon Jones’ First Pitch at Blue Jays vs. Yankees Game *Barely* Misses Strike Zone

(“I hear Robinson Cano is the future of the #Yankees,” via @JonnyBones)

With only a few days before a light heavyweight title defense that’s, shall we say, less than exhilarating on paper, UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones did some last-second promotion for the fight by throwing out the first pitch at last night’s Blue Jays vs. Yankees game in Toronto. If you follow baseball, you may recall that Jones threw out the first pitch during a Padres game before fighting Vladimir Matyushenko, so this wasn’t a completely random experience for him. Plus with UFC 165 taking place in the city this weekend, it was a good opportunity to get the locals fired up for the event.

So how’d he do throwing out the ceremonial first pitch? Well, let’s just say that Jones admitted that he “didn’t practice much” beforehand, so try not to be too hard on him. That video, courtesy of UFC.com, is after the jump.

I think I speak for all of us when I copy and paste this classic sound byte…

Okay, so it wasn’t a great pitch. But at least it was better than his dunk attempt, right?

Tito Ortiz will be attending the UFC 121 press conference on Wednesday.UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, No. 1 contender Cain Velasquez, undercard fighters Jake Shields, Martin Kampmann, Matt Hamill and Tito Ortiz, along with UFC President Dana White, will all meet the media on Wednesday at the UFC 121 pre-fight press conference. And if you can’t be there at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, you can watch it live right here at MMAFighting.com.

The press conference is open to the public, and it will be a good opportunity to see how the fans in Los Angeles react to Lesnar and Velasquez. Although Lesnar is the UFC’s biggest draw, he’s something of a villain to many fans. Velasquez, on the other hand, is a quiet, soft-spoken and likable guy who has been marketed heavily in Southern California by the UFC. So expect Velasquez to get the cheers from the crowd.

The press conference begins at 5 PM ET and the video is below.
